For basically being a bluetooth screen the price seems a bit high.  If they could have come in at $50 or $60 bucks I could see it selling.

Those old GPS units we had on the carts at my home course had the pace of play thing. I do assume mostly the old fart members and tourist golfers did not pay them any attention. It did not speed up play any. If you had someone like me that is not the most gaget savvy it could possibly hold up play. At least with my Bushnell I can point and shoot after clicking the button of course. I guess if someone was gaget savvy it would be ok. If I bought that thing I would have to borrow someone's 10 year old grand kid to work it for me

For my money a GPS watch has to be stupid easy to use, or its just not worth it. Tried one a few years ago but they really couldn't have made it any harder to use.

Tried the new TomTom last week - loved it. Dead simple and dead accurate.

This idea might have a niche for someone who already had an app but would something wrist mounted

I may had said it before and I'll say it again. I might.... might consider a band type of GPS device when they get very thin. And they will eventually. No thick bulk. I don't even wear a wrist watch anymore and never wore one when I played anyway. All I care about with GPS devices if front, middle, back. I mainly use my laser for hitting objects like bunkers, trees, water, ravines, etc.

These pace of play GPS watches have given me a great idea! We should start charging for actual time on the course. So slower rounds cost more.. "Sir I see you finished in 3 hours, that will be $40." and later: "Sir I see you finished in 5 hours, that will be $100." Hahahaha glorious

What if you get stuck behind a slow group? Do you both get charged? Or do they tell the slow group hit the bricks and get off the course? LOL

Yes... I like the idea.

Great idea except for the poor suckers stuck behind the 5 hour guy....

The more I think about this watch, the more interesting it becomes. You already have an app, you're interested in a watch but don't want to or can't shell out the $$ for one.

I do agree about the pricing.  They're setting this thing up for $129.00, and let's say your app cost you $25.  That's $154 total.  Noticed they do have a GPS watch - don't know if it's any good - for $159.  Even if you have the app already, it's a matter of about 5 or 6 bucks difference.

Does that make sense?  Like I said, I like the concept behind this -- but what would be a reasonable - and realistic, from their perspective, price point where they can make money and also offer solid value?  To me, that $99 intro price is a realistic starting point, but it's still a lot for what really could better be called a "dumb watch," since it doesn't do anything without an app.

It's easy. If your group is stuck behind them all you have to do to not pay over the minimum is make sure that your round is either slightly faster or at least no slower than the round that is holding everyone back. That way you get the benefit of the doubt. Bingo problem solved. When This idea catches like wildfire just know that it all started here lol.

Not sure that the watch is a value at that price point.  I got a Bushnell watch last summer for my son for a little bit more than the price of this one and is a better fit and finish with no phone or app required.

Hmmm....

So just about everything you can already do on your smartphone....but they want to charge you 99 bucks?

I'll pass.

Incidentally, if groups of players stopped playing with mobile devices during a round golf, the pace of play may actually speed up. Just a thought.
