SPY VIP The Dansome Posted February 16, 2016 SPY VIP Share Posted February 16, 2016 TIGHTS STEP UP TO THE TEE Scott Pinckney Performance tights have become a regular fixture on runners and in the gym, and on gridiron sidelines and basketball court. Now new Nike Golf Hyperwarm tights tackle the course, providing a locked-in feel and disruptive new aesthetic. “Tights are good for recovery,†Brooks Koepka explains. “We train so hard on and off the golf course that I think it would help us stay on the Tour for a little longer by keeping our bodies fresh for years down the road.†Designed to enhance movement with a compression feel, regulate body temperature and provide an extra layer of warmth, the Nike tights are made with a high-stretch Dri-FIT fabric that helps keep athletes dry. And as Scott Pickney adds, they also tap into the psychological aspect of the sport. "I absolutely love wearing the tights when I practice and workout,†Nike Golf athlete Scott Pinckney explains. “I feel more athletic and my legs always feel better after I practice when I wear them.†The Nike Golf Spring/Summer 16 line disrupts the status quo with bold new polo designs, advanced legwear and radical footwear that takes tailored performance to a new place, for the modern golf athlete. --------------- Well tights just about says it all. Kenny B
This is just wrong. On this I agree with you. Maybe I should dust off my pair of red flannel long johns to wear under shorts on those cold mornings. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Kor.A.Door
This is clearly something that is geared toward the 20 somethings that done know how to dress anyway. This is about as dumb as the 80's where we would put our shorts on over our sweatpants. Except now they wear golf shorts over top. At least we did it because it was cold and we hadn't figured out that it looked way better to have the shorts under the pants. SPY ZINGER
The new trend of AthLeisure was popularized arguably by yoga pants, and housewives everywhere. The idea that comfortable gym gear can look fashionable not only at the gym, in other aspects of everyday living and function. AthLeisure has made it's way for men and women, from the gym, all the way through business casual. Nike gear is probably some of the best technical pieces in the game. But this new push and line-up is misdirected. The look, looks terrible for golf. I am all for breaking down the economical barriers, it's good for golf. Keeping up with the latest in fashion trends, is good for golf. It works in women's apparel, it does not work here. Nice idea, poorly executed. Lululemon does AthLeisure right, the tights have got to go for golf.

EthanSterlingPrice
I've worn stuff like this in colder weather but it's always under pants, not a big fan of this though. I know plenty people my age who would love this and say I'm out of style but they're the same ones who say I'm crazy for listening to Phil Collins, The Cars, and Three Dog Night so what do they know. PlaidJacket
Shouldn't be much longer before we'll see some company pushing Yoga pants for men on the golf course. And I mean yoga pants only. Not under your pants or shorts. Of course I'm sure women already do that on the course somewhere. And while I'm on the subject of Yoga pants... Since when did all the over weight fat women in America determine that by putting on a pair of yoga pants they'd look like a ballerina? The yoga pant fad for women is awful. Most of the ones wearing these things would be better served (us men too) if women would cover up all the flab with a moo-moo or something. Fireinthehole
These tights due not offer enough compression to make the claim it will help with recovery. That aside it looks ridiculous. I am an agreement with others. Nike keeps pushing this idea that golfers are athletes just like soccer, basketball and football players. Worlds different for garment needs. I might be in the minority for people my age (26) but this looks like what a middle/ high school kid would wear to basketball practice, while talking about how Drake's new album is "fire" 🔥🔥🔥 My Mixed-Bag: Driver: Mavrik Sub zero, ventus black 7x Fairway: Still looking! dru_
I live in Minnesota where it seems half of my rounds are played in cooler weather. I'm all for another base layer. Are there any other products on the market that offer better compression and or joint support? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app So, I'm gonna jump into this late, but it will be relevant again in a few months, and for anyone that wants to pick up some tights for the fall and winter, now is the time to shop. Anyways, I'm a runner and a cyclist, so for most of the winter I pretty much live in tights. There are many different directions you can go with tights, and to be honest, I have a bunch of them from many vendors. Nike's products in this market, bluntly put, suck. They are expensive. They don't hold up well (the stitching starts falling apart quickly). The compression is not targeted well. They are, for the most part fashion, not form. UnderArmour is equally bad, and even more expensive. Lululemon, oh please don't get me started. If you want good tights, you have to get further afield. Products like the CW-X tights are consumer grade, and they offer real, targeted compression, but are still short of medical grade, so while they help, they aren't going to go as far as they could. http://cw-x.com/products/insulator-stabilyx-tights/are a really warm, compression tight, and yes, I've golfed in them, both under slacks and shorts. I've taken some flack about it too. Older guys that didn't like them and tried to play dress code games (as they stand there in slacks with frayed cuffs, and a non-collared pullover because it's too cold). Admittedly, mine are all black, not the grey green and black as shown here. These http://zootsports.com/mens/apparel/m-performance-thermo-tight-f11from Zoot Sports are more bland, and are purely a warm, active layer. But when you start looking at these products, there are some VERY good products out there at the high end. http://www.2xu.com/us/p/compression-tights/MA1967b.html?dwvar_MA1967b_color=BLK_NRO#start=1 http://www.2xu.com/us/p/3%2F4-compression-tights/MA1942b.html?dwvar_MA1942b_color=BLK_BLK#start=1 But here is the thing. Nike and UnderArmour are both in that same price point, and the product is nearly identical in materials and quality to these: http://sleefs.com/collections/compression-leggingswhich are about 1/4 the price. At $25 a pair, I'm sorry, but Nike and UA are just not even competitive. As for the appearance, I'm going to come right out and say it. The 'double standards' of the CC Dress Code curmudgeons needs to go away, yesterday, not only across gender but also generational gaps.
