Got rained out today and my wife insists we keep pictures of my golf stuff (great idea by the way) so I figured I would post my What's in the bag(s).  Apologies for the terrible indoor pics and don't mind the mess as I am in process of cleaning out some areas of the basement.

 

The first bag is what I am playing out of right now and was initially going to be my travel set, but with not playing that much they are my go to right now.

 

Driver:  Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 815 10.5* Tour AD DI 7x.  Set to -1 and neutral, 5g in heel 3g in toe.

 

3 Wood:  Callaway X2hot 3 Deep 14.5* Aldila Tour Green 75x

 

Hybrid:  Callaway X2hot Pro 18* UST ProForce V2 90x

              Callaway X Utility Proto 21* Project X Pxi 6.5

 

Irons:  Callaway Apex Pro 5 - PW KBS Tour 90s.  Love the feel of these with the light shaft and kick at the bottom of the swing.  Lightest steel shaft I have ever played

 

Wedges:  Callaway MD3 "Lucky Shamrock" 52* & 58*  TTDG Tour Issue S200

                Callaway MD PM Grind 64* KBS Tour V

 

Putter:  Right now it is the Metal X 2 Ball milled, but the Scotty Circa 62 Circle T will be back in the bag after vacation in late April.  No shot I am traveling on a domestic flight with this putter.

 

Bag:  Callaway HL5 Arnold Palmer 50th Anniversary Master's Edition

Approach into a par 5 off the cart path gave it the scratches.  Looked great up until that point, but the club flat out performs for me.

Yes, but where the drop would have been where I could not get to the green. Best move was off the path.

That's a bold move cotton... How'd it pay off for ya?

Turned out okay. Hit it to 20 feet for an easy two putt birdie. The drop would have put me in jail.

64* wedge is out for now and a 24* X Utility Proto is in the bag in its place. The wedge is needed less than a 4 iron at my club.

Have you tried the newish Apex UT? One came into our shop yesterday and it feels like "butta"! Seemed pretty easy to hit as well.

I have and they are sweet. I am partial to the older ones since they have a more pronounced flange. To me it inspires confidence in long irons that I have not hit overly well the last several years. I was close to added the 24* Apex UT yesterday but found the X utility at a nice price in a local shop.

Callaway bag is going into hiding for a few months and the Hogans are back.  Need a set that I can flight a bit lower than the Apex Pros since all I have been doing is playing in 40mph winds at my club.  

 

Added a Tank#7 to the bag and putted better with it over two rounds than I have in a few months.  Nice to see the ball start and stay online for a change.  Any putt that I made this year that was substantial was just dumb luck on my part.

Even better is I just ordered new plates for my new car after a WWII P-51D "Nervous Energy". The plate is NRVSNRG. Yes I am truly a history nerd.

Not many.  Had it on two of my Mustangs and it took people a little bit to get it.

Had some changes to the bag and this is what I am going with for the rest of the season and only the putter may change based on the course but doubtful.

 

The Callaway gear is in hiding for the rest of the year and back to my Hogans for the lower ball flight.  My club always has a constant 20 mph wind on calm days and just can't flight the Apex Pros as well.

 

Driver:  Titleist 915D3 8.5* set to 7.75*.  Just picked up a tour issue Matrix White Tie 60x to put in it and after one range session it is exactly what I was looking for.

 

Fairway Wood:  Titleist 915fd 15*, Oban Devotion 7 06 flex.  I hit this off the tee at my club more than anywhere else and not so much from the fairway.  The shaft is rebar and keeps the flight under the wind quite well.

 

Hybrid:  Adams Red 20* Matrix Altus Tour X.  Maybe the last nice hybrid ever made by Adams which is a shame.  Club does exactly what I need it to do.  I can flight it well and it works well off the tee.  The two opening holes as my club are perfect for it.  I am also amazed at the versatility of the club.  I can hit a nice stock 230 yard tee ball then jump on it and hit it 260 yards if I need to.

 

Irons:  Long irons are the Hogan Ft. Worth 15 Hi that I will be testing.  Have not hit them yet, but they will get spots in the bag through he end of the year.  The irons are in 22*, 26* and 30* with Recoil 110 F5 shafts.  Have the same shafts in the rest of my irons which are the Ft. Worth 15s in lofts of 34*, 38*, 42* and 46*.  Not sure why I just did not have these in the bag from the start of the season, just not confident in a blade I guess.  

 

Wedges:  Hogan Ft. Worth TK in 50*, 54* and 58*.  Could have swapped these out for my MD3s but they work just fine for me.  Struggled a lot with these last year out of bunkers, but that is now worked out with some set up changes.  Also helps that the sand at my club is not deep and fluffy so the lower bounce works really well.

 

Putter:  This has been a revolving door for me this year mostly due to LOFT issues.  My grip got poor, posture was poor and my stroke was all over the map.  I could not hit the sweet spot on any putter that I owned, which is a large population to choose from.  I decided to have the Asst. pro look at my stroke and once we fixed my grip the rest fell in line.  The only change that he suggested was to try a counterbalance putter which led me to the Tank #7.  Liked the putter but hated the insert which lead me to what is in my bag.  I was at PGASS getting my son his first Scotty and the GM told me they had a Newport 2 CB at 35" that was ordered and not picked up that they could cut me a deal on.  25% off the list and I was taking it home.  One of the best sticks that I have rolled in a long time and have a lot of confidence in it right now.

FYI great bag

If you saw how bag my grip got you would seriously question my index. Left hand was weak and the right hand was wrapped over the grip. Could not get a ball close to started online and anything that went in or got close was a miracle.

My tendency is to go too weak. Baseball thing maybe? I was a knuckles aligned guy back in the day.
