I spent last Friday and Saturday at Moparpalooza 2016 near Richmond, Va. at the new Dominion Raceway. Lots of beautiful Mopar's especially them Hellcat's.  The wounded warrior that Jay Leno gave the red Challenger Hellcat to was there with his. And then there was me and my lowly Dart...lol.  At least it's mine and all paid for, no payments!!!!

Unfortunately it rained on Saturday (Show Day) I got 2nd place out of 10 Darts. I didn't even bother unloading my trunk or back seat either.  Maybe why I only got 2nd...lol

 

Love the 3rd and 4th pic down, an old 70's Cuda with a new 5.7 ltr Hemi in it.

My wife is a Mercedes gal.  When I met her she was on her second one, a 380SEC, a nice 2 door with a truck big enough for four golf bags!!  But lifting her photo equipment in and out was not good for her back, so she sold it and we bought the E320 wagon.  She asked me last week what she should get next.  Uh oh!

I've got to admit, I've had a lot of cars/trucks/vans but I really enjoy driving Mercedes just for the sake of driving.

 

FWIW, now that they've discontinued the M & GLK lines, there's some good deals on CPOs starting to hit the market.

Thank you.  Got that at Carmax and I don't know if I'll ever by a brand new car again.  That's a 2012 that was an executive lease and had 41K miles on it.  Not a scratch on that car anywhere.  If you didn't know they had updated the style somewhat you would think its a brand new car.  Clean Carfax.  Very low pressure approach at Carmax as well.

It's the 3.8.  But 2012 is the year they boosted the V6 horsepower from 293 to 333.  It has plenty of pull.  That Subaru is nice too.  We went to a Subaru dealership but their inventory was awful.  No Legacy's but they had a shiatload of those ugly Forresters the guy was trying to steer us to.  I kind of chuckled.

Well after two weeks the Hellcat is broken in and I was able to open it up for the first time today. A few takeaways.

 

1. This car is fast and I am talking scary fast. Was finally able to use launch control (only enabled after the car has 500 miles on it). The car still wanted to go when I shut it down at 145 mph. Need some more wheel time before I get over that.

 

2. On my way back home forgot to change out of track mode and lit the tires up changing lanes at 70 mph. Never did that before and it was honestly a bit frightening.

 

3. Sitting in traffic it will go from a dead stop to about 20 mph on just the blower and fuel injection. Much more drivable in traffic with the power dialed down to 500 hp.

 

And as a side note I get a lot of comments on the car. Today I had some pull up next to me at a light, roll down their window and shot "rock and roll man". I am not even sure what is the correct response to that?

 

4. This car needs more rubber on the a$$ end to really launch hard. Not even considering running it on the track with the factory Pirellis. Drag radials at a minimum are a must.

So for the second time in three weeks driving home on Southern State Parkway I watched someone roll their car because they were driving like an a$$hat.  Had the slow Hemi last night and doing about 70 in the middle lane and a late 90's Sebring convertible blew around me (and cut me off) like I was standing still.  About two seconds after he passed me he lost control, caught the right hand median and rolled it into the guard rail.  Not sure how the guy made out but the car was in rough shape.  Few weeks back someone tried to pass on the shoulder at 90 mph and rolled their car off the guard rail.  Sometimes I have no idea what people are thinking but last night spooked me a bit since I almost was involved in it.

Glad your alright dude. Ppl can't drive for crap. Yesterday, in my neck of the woods, some road raging a hole shot someone in the head in 5 o'clock traffic.

Yeah - for God's sake people, slow down! I see it at least twice per winter someone is haulassing and ends up in the ditch a mile up the road.
