This is sad news Prince was one bad due, but also very strange. I remember Kevin Smith talking about doing a documentary about him for him got everything all finished up and Prince just throws it in his vault. His assistant said don't expect it to come out. He has all kinds of unreleased music and videos where he has spent tons of money. His legacy will be huge.

When I was the Accounting Manager at the Ice Palace(aka Amalie Arena), I had to settle the Prince concert (around 2000).  The Box Ofc Mgr only ordered a cash advance of $6k for the crew.  Well, it was actually $60k they wanted in the settlement that night.  I scrambled and borrowed $50k from the Concession company in order to satify their request.  So here we are, at 2 AM counting out $60K in small bills during the settlement.  I did get to see him perform that night, but only for a few numbers....My memories of Prince was that of an extremely talented artist, probably the most talented of all at that time.  I have a decent collection of his music and will be playing it all weekend in my car.

 

From the very beginning, his name was Prince. The musician who died Thursday morning at age 57 went by several names throughout his career but Prince was his birth name. His father, John Nelson, was a jazz musician who played under the stage name Prince Rogers in a group called The Prince Rogers Trio. When he had a son with the trio's singer Mattie Della Shaw in 1958 (he already had four children with his ex, Vivian Nelson), he decided to give the baby his stage name, so the boy became Prince Rogers Nelson. In a 1991 interview, the elder Nelson explained his thinking behind the choice: "I named my son Prince because I wanted him to do everything I wanted to do." From the very beginning he went by the singular Prince as a stage name.

Very sad, I actually had a classmate in Seminary who toured with Prince in the early 90's. it's so funny because this guy is very straight laced. He said that Prince was a top shelf Musician, extremely professional and fun to work with.

Doesn't seem right and it doesn't seem fair. Prince is gone and we still have to deal with Kanye.

I would trade Kanye and all the Kardashians to have Merle and Johnny back. Seems fair to me.

Kanye outside of music is a little crazy and annoying but his music is very good. You can have Kim and them though.
