I have been having a ton of issues getting out of greenside bunkers lately. While traveling for work I rented a set and played a quick round on the road. The rentals were awful, but I got up and down 3/3 times that day. Then it hit me - My mizzys have almost no sole width. But the "game improvement" rental clubs had massive wide soles. So I went out and picked up a wedge with the widest sole I could find - TaylorMade ATV 54° ($9 used). Sand is just not an issue anymore.

 

Now the hard part - which club to take out? I could do a wedge for wedge swap, but this one has a different shaft and lie. I thought about taking out the LW, but I just can't part with that club. Finally ended up dropping the 4 iron. After playing a couple rounds I think I made the right call. So, here's the new bag:

 

D - BBA 10.5 (but there's a new Nike Vapor Flex 440 on the way!)

3w & 5w - circa 2005 Diablo (find a club that works better, and I'll use it - nothing comes close to these)

5-PW - Mizuno JPX 825 Pro, KBS Tour shaft

SW, GW, LW - Mizuno MP-T4

SW - TM ATV (just for greenside bunkers)

Putter - TM Rossa Monza Spyder

IMHO you made the right call for your game. I would not change a thing with the ATV wedge. There is absolutely nothing wrong with carrying a wedge (or other club) for that one special shot. I will on occasion switch say the 60* for different sand conditions for different courses. I am an equipment junkie and observe set ups for different players and I am talking good players. I have seen some carry 5 different wedge set ups and take something out of the top end of the bag. One guy I know who does that carries no fairway woods at all and his highest iron is a 5 iron but he has a 19* hybrid he can hit several different shots with he is real versitile with that hybrid.

Yep you have to do what fits your game
