Frenck Lick In.

Being from IN. you hear a lot about the resorts and casino in French Lick, it has a great history.

It also has an amazing Pete Dye GC.

sitting atop one of the highest points in the state.

my wife and I finally had the time to go and spend the night in the West Baden Hotel, which if you get the chance I highly recommend.

There are 3 courses around the resorts, Pete Dye, Donald Ross, and Valley Links.

I played the 9 hole, Valley links course, While it was still a little ruff around the edges, it was still in very nice shape, and playing it was a lot of fun.

Afterwards we had decided to drive up the hill to at least look at the Pete Dye course. Having never seen a course of this magnitude before.

I can not express the feeling I got just driving into this course, it was just awe inspiring, the shear size and scope of this place is just breathtaking, let alone the greens and fairways being in immaculate condition,

While I was not fortunate, or wealthy enough, to play the course, the staff were very friendly, and did not mind at all that we had just come to lookie lou, and take pics.

after spending a great hour, looking at the entire course, and talking to the golf pro, and caddies, we then decided to drive the next 5 miles to the Don Ross course, now this course is more like home, while still in immaculate condition, it looked like a more traditional course that I have seen and played, and the staff was just as friendly and had I had the time I would have, at the golf pros urging, loved to play.

So if your from Indiana, or not, if you ever find your self in the area, or just trying to decide on a great place to spend a weekend, I would say come to French Lick, its just a great place to unwind, and relax, and refocus.

If it's good enough for Larry Bird, it's good enough for me!  Gotta make the trek down there - my wife went for a spa weekend with her sisters not too long ago, she said, "oh, yeah, I guess there's a golf course nearby - don't know if it's any good though."

Never gave the place much thought. But now after reviewing their site I'm very interested in putting together a golf outing there. It appears more affordable than some other places I've been and thought of going too. Maybe try and do it next year in the early fall.

Thanks for the suggestion Jsmith.

The Dye course at French Lick is simply amazing.  the Senior US Open was there last year and it basically kicked their a$$.   I attended a wedding there and it is hard to believe that you are in Indiana.  Is it worth $400ish to play? Yes I think so...I just can't get the wife to agree!

We play the Ross course a few times a year and it is awesome as well...I strongly recommend making the drive over to Jasper, IN if you're in French Lick, just a short 15-20 min drive.  They have a course called Sultans Run that is my all time favorite course that I have played.

As for French Lick itself, it is a hidden gem.  Those hotels are incredible, the Casino is nice...just a cool little town.

Sultans Run, is definitely at the top of my wish list for this year. As is the Dan Ross. Hopefully can get both in, but I would settle for either one.
