kmaygolf
Is there anybody out there that changes their ball position in their setup? I understand it makes sense around the greens. I'm wondering about full iron shots. For example I would play a 4 iron more towards the front of my setup, about 8 inches inside my left big toe. But for a 9 iron I play it a lot more towards the back. I've always done this but I've been struggling recently. Any insight would be much appreciated! Undershooter
Personally I try and move the ball around depending on the type of shot I am trying to hit. Cut, draw, high, low, it all kind of varies. Generally the lower the loft, the more forward it goes in my stance. Eseay32
That's the way the game was taught for a long long time. From wedge to driver it moves further up in the stance with driver off left toe and wedge middle back. I tend to be almost everything center of stance except driver which is left toe. Now if I'm trying to hit a shot I move it around. Cut-up in stance, draw-back in stance. High shot-up in stance, etc. Edit to add: your ball position should be where you make contact at...sounds silly but I mean if you take five practice swings with a 9 iron and make contact with ground at front of your stance then you should put ball there...if you swing 5 4 irons and make divot at middle then place the ball in the middle. Not sure what your struggles are and the shot you are hitting but if you are fat or thin, check to see where your practice swings are contacting at. Knoxville, TN. 6HDCP, TM R11S driver. Fireinthehole
Just this. Good enough for Hogan, good enough for me. I have never seen this version that shoes the shoulder width line, that reduces the confusion I have always had about this picture. revkev
I will move ball back and forward depending upon the shot that I'm trying to hit. Generally speaking I'm a little inside the left foot with everything except driver. 808nation
While playing last week, I noticed one of the guys position his ball dead center between his feet where I would usually play my seven iron and this was for his driver. His drives would tower over mine in comparison. I didn't bother to ask him, but would anybody know why his shots were going way higher higher than mine and longer, I position my ball off of my left toe. His ball flight wasn't ballooning at all, it just started high and long. Could it be because of the swing speed difference, I swing about 95 and he had to be at least 105+ Sent from MyGolfSpy mobile WITB: Driver: Sim2 Max w/ Fujikura Motore X F3 shaft FW Wood: F9 wood 14.5* Hybrids: Sim2 Max 3 Hybrid & Vapor Flex 4 hybrid Irons: Z565 - 7 thru PW & ZU85 - 5 thru 6 with Recoil ZT9 F4 shafts Wedges: RTX4 52*, 56*, 60* Putter: Scotty Cameron M2 Newport Ball: Black & Pro V1 Bag: 2018 MyGolfSpy stand Bag & 2021 Greenside Golf stand bag
