GolfSpy Barbajo Posted June 5, 2016 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Re-gripped the gamers today, just a few weeks after putting in some Pure Tour Wrap midsize grips. Love the Pure's, just not sure about the midsize, so I decided to go back to standard size and went with the Golf Pride Patriots. The Z-Grip Patriot has a pretty unique surface texture - not quite cord-like and not quite Tour Velvet like. Love the color pattern and the fact that a portion of the proceeds is donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation. I used air to put them on - easy as can be - and they look slick as can be. The only thing that could be better is if they had a #12 on them and said "Free Brady!" I also installed a new Tour SENSR on my Edel putter. If you're one of the testers we select, I would recommend NOT using air. Didn't use enough soap to slick up the shaft (pardon the phrase!) and it ballooned badly during installation. I eventually got it on but it's a little misshapen and a tad loose in the middle. Going to try it out tomorrow and see if it hampers play. Still, it looks pretty sweet. Will let you know what I think of the grips after tomorrow's round. I understand it's personal preference but I noticed on some grips, the grip patterns are not the same on the top and bottom hope you guys know what I'm talking about...would that affect how the grip was made to play? This Patriot grip looks to have the same grip design all around so I guess it wouldn't matter with this grip if it was logo down or up... Don't know if bitchin' grips will make me play better, but I'll feel good about myself! Biggest adjustment surprised me -- was getting used to the midsize grips on my wedges. Taking them off and going back to midsize is more of an adjustment than I realized. 3w through PW was no problem, but the Gap, 56 and 60 felt very, very weird, and I didn't hit them very well. Back to the work and we'll have to dig it out of the dirt once again...
