Jsmith2678
It was my distinct honor, to meet the legendary Pete Dye, at a vendor outing. It was after playing the Ackerman course, at the Birck Boiler Golf complex, at Purdue University, one of his own designs that had just opened this June. Very friendly, and even had time to sign a hat for me. unforgettable moment, and a great keepsake. paulmdepoy
Only Pete Dye course I have played is Mystic Hills in Culver, IN. It's the northernmost course of the Pete Dye Golf Trail. If you go after 3pm, it's only $25 for all you can play with a cart! And all beer is $2 a can, even imports. Very friendly staff and course was in great shape when I played it. revkev
I guess you either love or hate Pete Dye as a designer. I'm in the love category. I've played all four KOHLER courses, the DYE course in Port St Lucie, Kiawah and Sawgrass. I've played some of them multiple times. His courses just fit my eye. The key is to get on the proper set of tees if you show up and play the tips on many of them and don't have a tour card or aren't playing golf at a Major college you will be eaten alive. He has the unique ability to design courses that are fun for everyone, playable but challenging all at the same time. I've at least had a 9 in the 30's at all the aforementioned courses yes including Sawgrass and Whistling straights. Thanks for posting those Pics. Har in the Hat
You guys are lucky ( or not ) how you look at it. Up in Canada, we do not have any PD courses,so when i was in CHICAGO a few yrars ago,i had to try one of his courses. Played Ruffled Feathers. After getting my ass kicked from here to china,i only have one thing to say about Pete. He is a SADIST. What's in my Mizuno BR-D2 bag OFFICIAL TESTER FOR THE PING i500 CLUBS.
