Hi-ho-hi-ho... it's off to ho-ing I go!!  

 

I've had so many sets in the last few years..

Ping G10, G20, Titleist AP1, Bridgestone J40, and the list goes on...

 

I think (and hope) that I've finally found something that works for me.  At least I've achieved my lowest scores with this setup!

Maybe I'm a bit weird, but I usually watch how the top 5 finish in tournaments, find out what they are playing and lean that way - that's how I ended up with the Pings.  I know I'm not a PGA pro but I figure if these guys are winning using particular equipment it has to be pretty good.

 

So lately I've been noticing a lot of guys doing well with Callaway gear and tried it out and liked it - a lot!

I've tried Game Improvement, Super Game Improvement, some friends "blades" (don't even know if that's a term any longer...)

Couldn't get used to the "thick" top line and my thinking is that if I want to get good I've got to challenge myself - so I went with the Apex Pros.

So glad I did - clubs are just what I need; somewhat forgiving yet very responsive...

 

Anyhow - here's what's in my bag; my only change might be to get the Big Bertha Alpha 815 driver...then I'll be all Callaway except for the putter. =)

 

Just picked up the bag this year; I usually walk and use a pull cart so I wanted a cart bag instead of a carry bag with those annoying legs that get stuck in the pull cart.

Two things I really like about this bag

- 1 the magnetic ball pouch.  Yep, no zipper and the magnet works very well

- 2 each of the club dividers go all the way to the bottom of the bag so your clubs aren't rattling around as much

Oh yeah - the putter pocket is on the side too.

The pinstripes look really nice also; first time playing this year a guy says "whose bag is that?" .. "mine; why?" ... "just put a bow tie on the thing and it'll look like a tuxedo!"... 

 

One other thing I picked up this year on eBay was an inexpensive Bushnell laser rangefinder.  Got a great deal on it and it really makes a difference!

 

Picked my irons and wedges on callaway preowned where I got some really good deals; got the putter & cobra in great used condition; got the bag new at Golfsmith with XMas giftcards & got a great deal on the pull cart from eBay.

Nice set up. That pin striped bag has that Mafia Look. I figured from your other post you would be playing thrift store finds but that is ok any how . Play what works best for you.

Thanks Stu!... I've only found a couple of decent thrift store things; usually it's off brand stuff from the early 90's that is worn out.

Doesn't stop me from looking though!

I just got that same bag. Pockets and pockets and more pockets! Mine is in pinstripe red.

Righty clubs with a right handed putter.  Since it's in the side pocket it just sits that way I suppose.  

 

You're right!  I do love the number of pockets .. of all sizes!

I do not know about all those pockets for me because with all those pockets I may forget where I put something. I can be a complete dumba$$ sometimes. As far as thrift store finds go I guess I am lucky because we have a lot of stuff in the thrifts that appeals to me and I find a lot of stuff on the yard at work. I guess that is because we have a lot of golf retirees down here. Sadly when they pass on the relatives are in a hurry to sell the house etc and get rid of all of "Gramps old junky clubs" and either dump them at the thrifts or at the scrap yard I work at

Very nice set up. I've got a buddy who bags the ApexPros. It scares me every time they come of the bag. I just hope he flushes it long because it's the only chance that I have to hang with him..

 

They are very appealing to the eye. Wish I could come to MA and see them up close. The wife and eye are talking Cape for next summer (it's where we met).
