Golfspy_CG2
That was pretty incredible. 13/14 fairways, 18/18 Greens and 24 putts. That had to be toughest 2 footer he's ever made for the 58. Pretty Cool to see. revkev
Par 70, really a 60 no big feat - sent from space I remember having this debate/discussion elsewhere when someone shot a 58 on another tour. Should the record be based on strokes under par or the number shot? It's the first 58 ever and that has to count for something.. But is it as good a score as a 59 on a par 72? SPY VIP The Dansome Posted August 7, 2016 SPY VIP Share Posted August 7, 2016 59 is 13 under on a 72 and far superior. On a 72 you need 2 more birdies or 2 eagles on par 5's you can't always reach in 2 - sent from space Yo #JustPlayBetter Follow @GolfSpyMBP

revkev
A par 72 has those additional birdie opportunities though. I agree the 59 on a 72 is the greater accomplishment but I don't know about the far greater part. The number is the number and it's the first time ever. SPY VIP GolfSpyC Posted August 8, 2016 SPY VIP Share Posted August 8, 2016 Love the fact it was Furyk and I love the fact his dad is the only coach he's ever had. You can debate the whole par 70 vs. par 71 vs. par 72 all you want, but imo, the 58 is the more impressive round because it's never been done. Over a million rounds on tour, and he's the first and only player to have ever achieved this. Get someone to shoot 58 on a part 71 or 72 and then there's a debate. Until that happens, this is the lowest round ever shot on the PGA tour.

Kenny B
Absolutely a great round of golf that could have been even better if he had made a couple of those short putts! If only having one major didn't put him in the HoF, this did!! He was "in the zone". I had one of those days a couple of months ago when I shot 73, and it just feels incredible!! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Golfspy_CG2
Saw this afternoon, that Carballo had his score on 14 down as a 3 not a 4. He apparently verified with the walking scorer it was a 4 and changed it. Just think if he hadn't corrected it and Furyk with all the emotions afterward had signed without noticing. He would have signed for a 57 and been Dq'd. That would have been horrible.
