2008 Taylormade Rossa Itsy Bitsy refurbish - Help

Recommended Posts

Hello, I recently found a 2008 Taylormade Rossa Monza Itsy Bitsy Spider with the plumbers neck for $28. I'm looking to refinish it and black it out myself. I'd like a matte black finish on it and I will most likely just buy a black shaft rather than try to paint it. This will be my first time every doing any kind of cosmetic work on clubs. I haven't even paintfilled before...

Anyways, I have 2 main questions that I need help with:

1) What could I use/do to get the paint off of the insert without removing it from the head and replacing.

2) Since it is made out of both stainless steel and aluminum, how should I go about getting the current paint off and prepping it for the new paintjob.

Also any general tips regarding how to do it, what specific products to use and what not is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I've heard to use that for stuff like paintfill. Do you think it will affect the insert at all?

If it's the aluminum insert you should be fine. If it's the polymer insert I'm not quite sure

It's listed as a titallium insert so I'm assuming it's a polymer.

You want ti remove it to do it right. Ive got a ghost slant s apart right now. Theyre a pain ti disassemble, im refinishing it for a customer. Ill post some pics of it apart so you can see it. Basically face comes out first (boiling water technique to remove it). Sole plate comes off next. Remove screws from body to frame connection. Remove screws from behind the face plate. Boiling water again to soften the gaskets then pull apart. Remove rubber gaskets. Done. Then you can blast and refinish.

Photobucket should be able to go through the properties of that image and get there.
