Xr vs xr16 driver

I'd say yes. The XR16 is more forgiving and definitely has given me faster ball speed than the XR. It's one of the more forgiving drivers I've hit actually. The shaft in the XR16 (although you can select from a lot of options) is leaps and blinds better as well. It's light but very well balanced and stable.

Would you say it's worth the extra money? Is the xr a hard driver to hit?

Yes I would. I'm hitting the XR16 better than any driver before it while I was always generally underwhelmed by the XR.

If you are looking, And you are concerned about the price between those 2, the XR16 is way better, but another option to look at would be the X2hot driver, it is better than the XR, and almost as good as the XR16, and it can be purchased for real cheap. I thought the XR wasn't any good, the XR16 addressed the problems, but they had a really good one with the X2hot. Or X2hot pro line.

This!

X2 Hot gave me better numbers than the XR16 by just a smidge... but it's much cheaper.

I played the XR all last year and the XR16 since June of this year.  It (XR16) is miles better for me.   It was worth the difference in upgrading.  I might have picked up 10 or more yards, tough to tell as I never got on a LM with them together.   But the flight of the XR 16 is much higher and it is generally more forgiving on my miss which tends to be low and toward the heel.

I'm currently using the 588 custom and averaging 260 yards but I just don't find it very accurate, and the stuff shaft still seems way to flexible for me.

As I said, If cost is an issue, then definitely look into the X2hot or x2hot pro, very inexpensive and every bit as good as the XR16

I'm a huge fan of the Callaway X Range, with both the Razr X Fit and X Hot Pro being in my bag at one point or another.  The Project X shaft in my X Hot Pro is the same in the XR series (not sure about the X2 Hot), and it is easily one of the best driver shafts I've come across. The Speeder shafts that the XR16 comes stock with is a bit hit and miss for me, but that might be due to the demo clubs I've actually hit.

I'm also a golfer who prefers a heavier shaft, so the XR driver would be a better fit for me - the head and shafts are a little bit heavier and feel more solid.

Personally, I'd find a driving range/golf shop with both the XR16 and XR products in stock, and try them back to back. It's the only way you'll know for sure on what you want. 100 pounds (keyboard doesn't have symbol) is a lot of money to spend on what might only be a few yards of extra distance.

X2hot pro has the Aldila tour green, and the x2hot has the Aldila tour blue shaft

On top of the X Hot, X2 Hot and XR range, I'd have a go with a 2014 Big Bertha (the driver that I, and a few other Spys have in the bag). It goes just as far as the XR, but is a bit more adjustable (sliding weight around the perimeter) and is slightly cheaper (roughly 60 pounds).

Also, a dark blue driver is sexier than a black/matte one!
