Wacky wacky rumor of the day, could this possibly be true?

I don't know if I could see him buying TMAG alone. Maybe as part of a larger investment group. I'd have to venture a guess that he is starting to look towards the future as his golf career is very uncertain at this point.

One point I will make is this. Jason Day just resigned his equipment deal with them 3 days ago. I'd have to imagine that he has to have some sort of insider knowledge to have made a decision like that. I would find it hard to believe that a player of his caliber would just resign with TMAG if he had no idea what was going to happen with the company down the line.

He will only be using their clubs though. His clothing will be Nike

Agreed Theoo. That wouldn't be a problem though considering Adidas is obviously not a part of the TMAG deal so he could wear whatever he wanted.

I still say that this could be the start of TW marketing his own brand of clubs ala Nicklaus. This would be an easy way to do it.

Maybe that's where a lot of the Nike oven guys will end up.

If this is true I would love to see if Tiger would play a large role in the design of the clubs. Could you imagine Taylormade technology with the traditionalist views of Tiger?

He's probably seen Jack Nicklaus doing so well with his club brand....... :D

Maybe he's thinking I can't beat jack's record but I'll crush him in sales lol

Very Interesting so to speak especially from a equipment junkie like me's standpoint.

Tiger could very well buy TM on his own or like others said form his own investment group. It would be interesting from an engineering stand point to combine some of the great minds at TM with some of the very apparent talent from The Oven. Those last two factors combined would be the likes of PXG. Tiger like any accomplished player of his caliber knows what golf clubs need.

There would be a lot of people that would buy the equipment because simply of Tiger owning the company. Actually I could see this overall deal being just short of marketing genius

Actually Nicklaus did really well in the beginning with his line especially when he bought MacGregor and the Toney Penna golf companies. After a while though I think they went too far with some of the designs and to really be in the competitive form they tried to stick with some funky designs with too much tie to the past. Actually he tried to go mainstream modern with some really horrid designs like the Linear Nicklaus N-1 Irons and the horrible Penna metal woods

The last thing he did was hollering about rolling back the ball and then came out with a line of golf balls with that golden bear on them that looks more like a pig than a bear.

I say all of this and I am a Nicklaus fan but it is the truth--- And today last I saw of him on the legends of golf he was playing Miura irons

I agree. People will buy, at least at first, just because Woods is name on them. They'll keep buying if he got other good names to go with it.

Look for this. If Rory soon signs a deal with TM, then Tiger is buying it. Bet on it.

Ok. So I'm in favor of Woods buying Taylormade. I think if they signed all current Nike golfers, plus had all the current TM players, they'll have something big. But, maybe it's bigger than we think. TM was owned by Adidas without them putting their name on it. Maybe that's the direction Nike is going? Maybe they'll buy TM and keep making clubs without their name on them. It certainly seems possible. What is your take on this. I'd love to hear. Agree or disagree.

We discussed this during our Sunday round. What if the Nike shut down were because of a plan to buy TMag.

Who knows
