Ship Sticks

Anyone ever use them? After my latest experience with flying with my sticks I am done taking them on airlines. Delta destroyed my brand new travel bag on the way down and my son's on the way home. His has a hole in it that I can fit my hand into. Then to top it all off TSA decided rather than open the TSA locks on the bags that a bolt cutter was the way to go. My son's bag was okay but when they packed mine they decided that my driver, hybrid and wedges did not actually need to go back in the golf bag. Apparently next to my golf bag was good enough. Thankfully nothing was broken so I have that going for me.

I use them all the time, pretty impressed so far.  Last time I used them was a trip to Vegas.  Shipped them directly to Wolf Creek, arrived at the course and my clubs were waiting for me on the golf cart.

Thanks.  Normally do a search and was blind with rage after I opened my golf bag.

I almost used them when I went to San Diego but gambled on delta because ship sticks was crazy expensive!

Fedex ships clubs too. I think they are cheaper than SHIP STICKS. I am going to give FedEx a try next summer.

I hate traveling with my clubs because I like to travel with as few bags as possible, and I have had TSA open my carefully packed golf travel bag twice! Club Glove bags are the most durable (though I have never owned one), but that still means I have to lug it around. Plus, if TSA leaves your sticks outside of the bag what is the point?

Update:

 

Did a quick quote on the FedEx site to ship from Iowa to Vancouver, 20 lbs, and it was $40 ground (4 days). That is less than the bag fee the airline charges. So let's say it is $100 there and back. I will give it a shot and report back next summer.

Glad to see the positive feedback! Bought a ClubGlider Meridian on sale that came with a domestic R/T Ship Stix voucher .. have not used it yet, but may get a chance sometime this Winter.

I have used ship sticks and it is excellent service. However I fly so much for work that I have status with a couple airlines and get free checked baggage. I have no problem with carrying the bag in and out of the airport, so I stick with the airlines.

Same with me, and have used my Club Glove for more than 10 years without incident.  I have a collection of TSA search tickets and I leave all of them in the bag.  Trying to see how many I get!

I pretty much live on Delta and American and apparently being Diamond on Delta did not prevent them from destroying two of my travel bags.  Think I will be using Ship Sticks for my trip to Pebble and see how that goes.

I found ShipSticks a little expensive. When I'm flying (out of state) I normally ship FedEx. They've been cheaper so far for me. When I'm flying around Texas I'll check them onto the plane.

BTW - I have a FedEx box at home I've used a few times. They're pretty sturdy.

Same here. I've used a hard case. Always fun to check how many tickets by the end of the year. Tells me if I traveled for work more or golf more

Going on 9 years of hard travel, not once have I had a damaged club or bag yet. I am sorry to here you've had bad luck. My experience with Ship Sticks has been excellent and I am sure they will not disappoint for your trip to Pebble Beach

Looks like they just dragged it behind the luggage cart. I don't fly Delta often so I can't speak from prior experiences with them but that is a total lack of care.

Looks like they dragged it behind the *plane*..! (including both takeoff and landing). OUCH!!!!

Never had an issue at all with my normal travel bags. Going on 4 years and close to 750k miles with the same bags.

I don't think I will be either. Your comment made me rethink the hard case and it would fit if Dodge knew where to put the subs in the trunk. Funny part is it would fit in my Hellcat no problem.

Odd.  I looked at the Hellcat in the showroom last week while getting a service, and the trunk is smaller than my Charger; but maybe a little wider.

I thought the Challenger trunk was smaller than my Charger, at least a different shape.  I know I couldn't get our two cart bags in the Challenger, let alone our two SM pushcarts.

I don't think the 30% savings will do much to cover the cost of a golf trip.  

 

I have a trip coming up to Phoenix in February, so I checked the cost.  $50 each way and I have 2 sets (no, I'm not in one of them!).  So, $200 to ship clubs...  I get baggage free on Delta, so depending on where we play, shipping our sticks costs 1-2 rounds of golf.  I can't afford that.

I am taking my chances again on Delta tomorrow with a flight to SFO. If they manage to kill my new travel bag I give up.
