Last week I received a most unexpected surprise from adidas Golf.

We haven't heard directly from them in a while, but it's always nice to see what Masun Denison (Global Footwear Product Director for adidas Golf) and the rest of the adi golf team have come up with.

According to the included material, the Crossknit Boost was inspired by adidas ULTRA BOOST. It's probably not unreasonable to say that Crossknit is the adidas answer to Nike's FLYKNIT material.

I find that adidas' knit offers a bit more structure, whether or not that's a good thing depends on the individual.

Over the past few years adidas proper has been much more proactive in sharing its technology with the golf division. Ultimately that's led to much faster innovation on the golf side, and that has the potential to benefit all of us.

As far as where Croosknit Boost fits in the marketplace…the idea here is a crossover shoe (good for golf, and not golf), that's breathable, comfortable, and supportive. It's not the Tour360 Boost, but it's not a running shoe either.

Cushioning comes from the full-length BOOST material, while the adiwear sole provides traction.

*A quick note on sizing. I slipped these on and walked around the house a bit. My early take is that they run a bit narrow.

Expect four different colorways. Available 12/1 for around $160.00

Loosely related new thing, which we'll want to keep an eye on… If you look closely at the photos that show the card provided by adidas you might notice the following text:

“Our lawyers ask we remind you that if you post this online, please note you received this product for free. #FREESWAG or #COMPED should work.”

I prefer shoes like this as I don't feel like the spikes are punching my foot from the bottom resulting in tired and achey feet. I would definitely wear these although with your note on them being a bit narrow, I would hope they are available in wide.

160.00, that's a deal since Ultra Boosts retail for 180.00.  I don't think these will stay on the shelves for too long.....
