I have a spot, but I do not want to upset the Mods, by plugging my own shop... If it is cool with the powers that be, I will give you the numbers you are looking for...

I think that should be fine ... at least I don't have a problem with it.

I would really like to be sure. I enjoy this board, and would hate to get banned. My shop is not a sponsor and I understand that we do not want to take business away from forum sponsors. So, Until I get the OK from the powers that be, I will keep my deals to myself.

I like my GPS. I will only buy a laser if it has as shark attached.

OK, reading this thread, it sounds like lasers are OK for tournament play and GPS may not be. I have only played one course that had the reflectors on the pins. Is this still OK for laser use. If line of sight is not always possible because of the course (or player) how can you use the laser effectively?

If I cannot see the target, I shall not be overly concerned about the distance to the flag...

Good point. GPS does help me to pick a club that should not put the ball into the next tee box. "Should" being the key word here.

Obviously the laser without line of sight is a problem, but does it work without the pin reflectors?

My Bushnell works on everything, trees, flag sticks, etc, without pin reflectors. I guess reflectors would be nice, might make it easier, but they're not necessary at all.

The newer Lasers do not need a reflector on the flagstick to work. They have software inthem that is designed to look for the pin. Makes finding the mileage a bit easier..

I guess I'm struggling with the whole laser vs. GPS thing. Why would anyone want a laser if its limited to line of sight? I know its better on the range but is that really it?

The Laser v GPS is an discussion that we have at the shop with customers on a daily basis. IMO it comes down to this...
IF you are playing the same course or courses most of the time, I'm pretty sure that most players have a goods idea if they can carry the fairway bunker on 7, or get into the lake on the right on 12. If you are playing a bunch of newer courses, and are unsure of the carries, then a GPS does a fabulous job of telling you that. The one thing GPS does not do is tell you how many yards it is to the Pin.
What I find is that most of my competitive players lean toward laser, while the more recreational player enjoys the GPS. For the competitive player, the really important number is the flag. not the front and back of the green.
Again, this is just my ramblings. Take it fwiw.
