Painting CG14 Gel Insert? Anyone tried?

Has anyone ever tried to paint the gel insert on a CG14 wedge? Or tried to color another similar gel insert?

I'm revamping/replacingthe entire bag (post and pics coming soon!) and would like to spice up my wedges. I want to do some paintfill & matching grips but the yellow insert might stick out like a sore thumb. I was thinking of trying to color the insert green with a sharpie, but I'm concerned it won't look good.

Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated!
