It would have been nice to receive some follow-up communication when your three-hour maintenance window extended well beyond what you initially communicated. I tried pinging you guys on Facebook and Twitter and never got any response. :)

I work in IT so I understand that server upgrades can sometimes go sideways. But if I did that to my customers on a platform that any of my teams support then I'd eventually be out of a job. Just saying...

I agree, when I was unable to get on the site I jumped over to facebook hoping to see something like "the site is down for a couple hours" or "updating the site, keep checking back"

It is definitely a nice little perk I've seen done other places...

We sent a message to all members letting them know of the change. Dont think there is a more direct way to do it. I think that was better then you having to go on Facebook and Twitter to find out of the change.

The switch took 45 minutes total. The DNS changes which we have no control over might have taken longer in your individual area. But like I said previously we have absolutely no control of that.

I honestly thought you would be ok with us switching this over at 1 in the morning to a much better service. I am surprised you still have an issue with this to be honest. It was a necessary switch that needed to be made and it was done in a very efficent manner.

I didn't have an issue, I know it's necessary to keep improving the site... I was just saying that I've seen it done on other sites... and I totally forgot about the email. so I guess you were right... my bad...

I could not get in for about 8 hours over the night. Ultimately though, the new server seems fast and great from my node.

Paul-

Keep in mind that I didn't know about the DNS changes when I posted the message. I did see the email and that was great. But the DNS situation made it look like you were down longer than you actually were. You obviously knew that was the case. Your users didn't.

Anyway, I'm kool in the gang. You asked for ways to improve the site and I made a suggestion. Not every suggestion made will be a nugget. :(

No I appreciate the suggesstions from everyone but when it comes to server switches I assumed you would understand what we were in for. We actually did not know about DNS issues at all because it populated in a short 45 minutes for us. But we figured DNS could take longer but that is not something we can monitor or control.

Thanks for that. I know there were cheaper options. Your commitment to the mission and quality of this site is what makes it stand out.

Geez, LOL...if you can't get on the site...just go do something else, LOL. There are other websites, ya know. LOL

Thanks Mod/Admin for the message of the site being down, and thanks for the site.

barbajo  You'd think a fantasy team with Webb Simpson, Rory, Hunter, Graeme McDowell & Louis Ousthauizen would do some serious damage at the Player's. Well, they did, but not the kind of damage you want...
