I wish I could... Vegas is one of my favorite places to visit.. I have played a few spots down there. Best layout so far for me is a tossup between Red Rocks and Paiute.

Ok, I ended up playing at the Paiute Snow Mountain course - beautiful and fun!!! can't wait to go back and play again.

I learned a HUGE lesson... finally realized that fitting my personality, I like to try and overcome challenges that course designers have set in front of me. I'm a high handi cap player, and I like to ignore this and attempt to play holes as if I was under 10.... and this only causes me to play worse. stupidly simple realization, but hopefully I can reign myself in on this and learn to play to my ability first, and then push from there.

I also played the Callaway Center's 9 hole course that same evening. Simple, boring... straight forward, too many matching distances... but I was sucked in by the Happy Hour special - $25 included two cocktails!!! hahahahaha slight rip off, but hey, I was there, it was 8 p.m. and what else was I gonna do at that hour in Vegas.

Great pics (which is to be expected). I think that the realization you came to is important, and many others would benefit from it as well. Yesterday I shot a personal best and I feel that good course management had a lot to do with it. On one hole in particular, I hit a poor drive and decided to play down the parallel fairway instead of playing "normally" because the "normal" way involved a very long carry that I wasn't comfortable with from the lie I had.

On the other hand, one of the few shots that I will always remember from this round was one of those, "This is the shot that the situation is asking for, so I'm going to hit it" types. I guess it comes down to the question of, "Why do you play?" If you're trying to post the best scores, course management is key. If you're just playing to have fun and hit some memorable shots then there's no sense in aiming away from the pin.

Such a simple concept, and yet no matter how hard I try, I simply don't have it in me to "play smart". My club Championship is this weekend (which will be my first attempt at an individual stroke play event), and as much as I've tried to prepare myself by forcing myself to always play the safe shot, it's just not my game. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, I honestly believe I can hit any shot on the golf course. I may be methodical and calculating in every day life, but on the golf course, I'm a cowboy. Here's hoping you're better at playing within yourself than I.

Great pics as always, Tim. You should really write up a post on photographing golf clubs...or at the very least send me a comprehensive list of instructions.

Were you in my brain again T? Next you will be complaining about your tempo being too quick...

I can't wait until we can put together a Golfspy foursome some time down the road (or trail, pardner).

barbajo  You'd think a fantasy team with Webb Simpson, Rory, Hunter, Graeme McDowell & Louis Ousthauizen would do some serious damage at the Player's. Well, they did, but not the kind of damage you want...
