The True Rules Of Golf - Part 1 of 4

The game of golf is 90% mental and 10% mental.

If you want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age.

Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three.

When you look up and cause an awful shot, you will always look down again at exactly the moment when you ought to start watching the ball if you ever want to see it again.

Any change works for a maximum of three holes and a minimum of not at all.

No matter how bad you are playing, it is always possible to play worse

Never keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your mind during your swing.

When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one

more club or two more balls.

Very nice. I feel the "go back and start earlier" one very deeply. I got put in group lessons when I was little but didn't like it. Took up the game seriously at 20 and have ever since rued the missed opportunities of playing junior tournaments and HS golf.

I was similar to that too.

You know how when you were a kid, you'd kinda go through periods of being friends with different kids in your neighborhood. Well, the summer I was 12 I buddied up with a kid in my neighborhood that he and his dad played golf. His dad was a cop and worked nights. He spent almost every day going to the golf course and playing golf and/or cards. About 2-3 times a week, he'd take his kid (my friend) and I along. We'd hit balls on the range, and then play 9 holes while he played cards. My friend was a good jr golfer (played competitive jr golf) and would score 36-40 for nine holes, from the men's forward tees. He taught me a few things, and I usually would score 40-45....playing by the rules. I played a lot that one summer, then went back to school and got back into the football, basketball, baseball or track usual routine.

When I was a Sr in college I got new clubs, took them to college, and dabbled a very little in golf. After graduating, I began to play....but only played about once every month and a half. Finally, at the age of 27, I got into the golf business, and began to play about once ever week or so. That's when I feel like I started being a "golfer". Of course, at that point, I was worse then I was when I was 12 and was lucky to shoot in the 90's, LOL.

Welcome Sarah. Its nice to have someone of the female persuasion on the board. That will keep us honest. ;)

One comment on your link. I don't want to speak for the mods so this is just my personal bias. If you're going to post a link then make it contextual. If you want someone to click to your site but it has nothing to do with the topic being discussed then it probably belongs in your sig. Just something to consider.

Yeah...that's awfully close to being spam, IMHO.
