Never dealt with Titleist's warranty department before, but wondering what you guys think will be the likelihood Titleist will cover this under warranty seeing as it also had the dent in the heel? I know dents like that aren't covered, but being as I hit it after the dent happened knowing that and the head exploded, I was wondering what the likelihood is that it would still be warrantied. I called and the rep I spoke with said to send it in and they'd evaluate it and determine what the outcome would be and if the crack is related to the dent. I wouldn't think it's related to the dent being as it starts nowhere near it and split toward the toe and not the heel where the dent is, but I've never dealt with them on warranty issues (yes, I hit it a few more times after it cracked initially and it kept getting bigger).

Doesn't look like the dent and crack are related to me.

Then again I don't know how to perform rocket surgery either so take it for what it's worth.

They are more likely to warranty it than not. Why? It is worth more to them to do so than to piss you off by not doing it. They want your return business and the business of whom ever you talk to. They can buy that business pretty cheap considering they have moved on to the 913. Anything they have is dead inventory and if they do not have any they may offer you a discount on the 913.

I had some AP2''s that wore really fast that I sent back. They said it was not a warranty issue but offered to replace the heads for $11 each. I jumped on it and ended up with brand new clubs for $88. Which I promptly sold and bought some ZB's.

Which brings me to my next point. Do I go ahead and send it in now, or wait until the 913 releases in November and send it then? LOL

What the hell, wait. It is not like you are having to use a 3 wood because you broke your only driver. You probably have as many as your proshop at your club.

It's been years ago, but I snapped a shaft right after I purchased a 975J-VS and they wouldn't replace it. I was still in the store where I purchased the driver, hitting in the indoor range. I paid $400 for the driver, then immediately had to drop another $120 on a Harrison shaft.

Interesting stance. I consider myself a pretty straightforward & honest guy, but I didn't see that as being dishonest.

Lets say someone intentional cracked a driver just to get the new 913....dishonest.

If someone bought a cracked 910 driver dirt cheap on the bay with the sole intention of sending it in for a warranty new 913...dishonest.

Waiting for the opportune time to send in for warranty to maybe get a 913 instead of the 910......I dunno.

What about a hypothetical:
What if he sent it in now, got a brand spanking new 910 and promptly sold it. He'd get way more for the pretty, new, still-in-the-wrapper head than he ever would have for his dented used one. So then he used the money for a 913. Net effect is the same....913 from a warranty.

I would say it's a matter of sending the club to titleist when you see the problem and say, here's the deal what will you do?

They may well choose to send the newer club knowing that Rookie will be over joyed with it. It would be a great business decision on their part.

Intentionally holding onto it in hopes of receiving a newer club or something of greater value would be ethically wrong IMO. I've known Rookie long enough to think he cares about such things. He and dogpro are the reason why I'm on this sight. For that matter I believe that most golfers care about such things. That's part of why we play the game. It teaches integrity.

I think you care about that very much RR. It's why you play golf. You've asked a fair question. It's up to Titleist to decide what to do. Once they've sent the club Rookie may do with it what ever he pleases. That's what I think.
