Jaacob, great article & congratz on your performance!! I'm glad to see that things are going well for you.
For the MGSers that aren't familiar with Jaacob, his site, Swingmangolf is an excellent site for helping to increase your swing speed and distance. A lot of the sites that market this have gimmicks and/or rehash the same 'ol crap in a different package.
Not Jaacob. His site's first rate, as is the content, and if you follow his programs, you will obtain significant gains in both your SS and your distance.
Along with that, much like the Novosels over at Tour Tempo, when you have a question or problem, you deal directly with Jaacob. As most of you are aware of my IT limitations and when I first joined his site, I was totally clusterf*cked. He returned my call immediately, couldn't have been nicer & got me squared away, within a couple of hours.
If you're serious about increasing your swing speed, you owe it to yourself to visit his site. It's a great value! He's also the swing model in a swing instruction book based on the swing theory of Mike Austin, who Jaacob was fortunate enough to have as his teacher & mentor.
For those not familiar, in 1974, with a persimon driver, balata ball and at the age of 64yo, Austin ripped a drive that travelled 515 yds, a world record for longest drive in a professional tournament that stood for over 30+ years.
Again Jaacob, kudos on your performance, and the very best to you in your future challenges.
My Best,
Richard

Seriously, think about the above quote. 80% of the people that I meet in a day have "quit," and they're just goin through the motions, waitin for their heart to stop beating. It's sad!

Great read Jaacob - really enjoyed this - I had passed on it earlier because I was so busy - trying to get caught up with life post Christmas now.
Played yesterday - an exasperating 4:45 affair - while I'm not sure that I would enjoy only playing speed golf I'm of the opinion that a round should never last more than 3:30 and that a 3:00 round should be the norm that we strive for. The guy I played with believes that 2:30 should be the goal and that if there were a way to get the average round down to 2:30 we would double the number of golfers.
His suggestion is GPS ball tracking at affordable prices - I think you'd have to add slower green speeds and change the rules a bit - I like the lost ball rule here and OB being a drop with penalty at the spot the ball went OB. Perhaps also a 3 putt maximum except in competition.
Regardless this was a really fun read and I'm going to check out your site.

Thanks for the kind words and support guys! Glad you liked!
I agree, not everyone will want to do speed golf and certainly time is a factor for a lot of people in deciding to play or not...but it's actually quite reasonable for a foursome to finish in 3-4 hours. We do it during our practice rounds when we just walk...and still find time to socialize, enjoy the scenery, etc.
