Blade
Originally I had asked my rep to try and locate a black version of the White Damascus, he told me he was unable to locate one since I didn't want the new iX version with the high toe. Just got an email from a buddy of mine who is in Japan and he found one at a shop over there and he grabbed it for me. So in a couple of weeks I should have the same putter with a black finish, my wife thinks I am nuts that the finish matters that much to me. She's right, but you're not alone. lmh3
My buddy may want it for the black one, but if he doesn't, I very well may. Of course knowing me, it will probably end up in a rotation with the other one. That's what will really tick her off the most. BIG STU
Those are nice irons. I have a friend of mine who is an assistant pro at one of the courses on the South end of the Strand and he is a Cally Staffer. I believe he has a similar set up on shafts as you do except he has the black KBS shafts. I played with him last week and did hit his 8 iron and 9 iron and they really hit good. I did not want to hit them much because I might like them too much and I cant afford them besides I just changed clubs 3 or 4 months ago for the first time in years and my wife would throw me out if I bought those Maybe if I hit the lottery Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. lmh3
My White Damascus ix was delivered today. Not crazy about the high toe, but I think it will grow on me. The feel is very solid and it rolls the ball very well. lmh3
I got to roll the two White Damascus putters out on the practice green. The ix with the Metal X face milling definitely got the ball rolling a little quicker and it seemed to roll a foot or so further than the standard milled face on the regular Damascus. The feel is very similar, maybe a touch firmer with the ix, a nice crisp sound and you know exactly wear you hit it on the face. It may be in my head, but it seems like the high toe design gets the pitter releasing faster than the level toe version. I'm leaning towards the ix but I'm sure the regular one will see the course as well. lmh3
The Versa came back from Charles at Spryevo, he did a great job, it is in my kitchen drying, so I am going to steal his photo of it. I'm going to try it out tomorrow, weather permitting, and if it is as good as I think it is, I'll go on and order a matte white shaft for it to complete the look. lmh3
Didn't get a chance to roll the Versa on a real green, 9" of snow kind of stopped that, but I was able to hit a few on the green at Golfsmith. The first thing that was obvious is that the copper added a lot of head weight, I mean a lot. At 33", it has a swingweight of F-1. The total head weight is now 409 grams which is just a bit heavier than the head weight of the Tank putters so I am going to see if I can get them to send me the 40 gram backweight they use in those putters. As far as the feel off the face, the copper produces a very solid feel at impact, almost like there is no insert at all. The ball rolls really well, and it is very easy to get the ball started on line. It looks great, will look even better when the white shaft comes in. lmh3
How does the Damascas stack up aginst the Method 003? Fairways & Greens My Friend, Richard I like the feel of the Damascus much better than the Method. It has a more consistent feel than the Method, puts just as good of a roll on the ball and the smoother edges are much cleaner looking. lmh3
I got around to putting the Versa back together properly with the back weight and everything today. It has a really good feel with counterbalancing, good distance control and a solid roll on the ball. I'll probably only use it on slower greens though as it was a little tough for me to control speed on shorter putts.
