Where is it? The actual address is below, but it is located on Lake Sam Rayburn in the Angelina National Forest north of Jasper Texas.

I have been trying for a week to get all the data together but Rayburn Country Resort is a 27 hole golf course. They actually have a Adam's Pro Tour event the weekend before this so it is a nice course. They have a 80 room hotel on the premises and a restaurant.

 

The sweetest part of this deal is the price. 2 days/1 night/3 rounds of golf is $155. If anyone want to stay for 3 days/2 nights/4 rounds of golf it is $ 205. And these are for a single occupancy room. Double is cheaper if you need that.

I think it best if everyone makes their own reservations rather than sending money to me to do it. We can do it that way via PayPal if necessary but PM me if that is necessary.

 

I have not finalized everything yet with reservations not knowing how many we will have but I expect to have that done by Friday.

I would love to attend if I can swing it with the wife, the price is definitely right. The problem is, it's a 12 hour drive for me. If I flew out of here, I can go to Dallas or Atlanta for cheap and it would be a haul from either of those as well. I'll see what I can do.

Great deal, near 5 hour drive... Unfortunately being a Thu/Fri event makes it a no go for me. Starting a new position at my campus this school year and taking two days so early wouldn't be good. Appreciate the work going on to set this up though!

I am an idiot and looked at the wrong month. This was the 3 rd Saturday and Sunday in September which I think is 21-22 and staying Friday night is $40 more.

Not sure I made this plain enough. This price of $155 includes green fees, cart and lodging. It is actually $135 for the two rounds of golf on two days. And it is $20 to replay on the same day. And the Hotel is $40 per night.

 

I plan on going down on Friday and staying Friday and Saturday nights and playing Friday - Sunday. But we will see about everyone else.

It is a 12 hour drive from Atlanta, and the most likely vehicle for this would be a Chevy Avalanche that can accomodate 4 passengers, 4 bags, and overnight bags. If it's just me, I'm taking the SMART car or the Ducati.

Hats off to Best Grips, well, actually hats on because of Best Grips. But he has stated that he will be making a Texas Open Hat for all those who attend. Also, he will be making special hats to your specs for a small nominal fee. And it really is a small fee when you consider how much other custom made hats are. But stay tuned.

Right now I am looking at driving from the Atl on Friday. If I am driving solo, I will hit the road about 5am with the intent of hitting the Resort around 3:30/4:00PM local time so I can meet and greet that night and have a good meal. Play with the group Saturday and Sunday. If the Sunday times work out, I can either stay sunday night or drive halfway to Atl Sunday evening.

 

Looking at the route a little closer, I would probably wait until the week of the trip to choose I10 or i20 as the better route (weather and departure time dependent). The best halfway point on for the return would be a stop in Gulfport or Mobile.

 

If there is interest, I'm not averse to sharing space or caravanning. I do have a tendency to set cruise for speed limit + 8mph and just roll .

 

I like the location because it is reachable for pretty much anyone in the US, and the price is reasonable. Being September the worst of the east Texas Mosquito population should be more or less dormant, and we'll still be before the Daylite savings time switch, so I would love to see as many MGSers get out as possible.

The date was changed because the weekend before when it was scheduled there was a Pro event scheduled at this place. Pine Dunes was booked til November and everywhere else was either $100 per round or booked with some event.

 

Zach and I will be there Friday and Saturday and Sunday. Sorry if that weekend was a bust for you. It is tough at this late date. Not many weekends left to choose from.

Rover, is the next week impossible or is this the only week we can book it here?
