  1. Alright, Geez everyone haha. I didn't think a teaser would cause so much contention hahaha. Here is a little more for you all. I will be doing a video/picture review here in my actual post. Also, I Will add more photos here in a bit. Making dinner with the wife and kids!

  3. Good luck with the house, @Shankster and congrats on moving to Hawaii. @Preeway and @CFreddie hope you had some quality birthdays. — Morning all! Missed the community call last night. Hope it was fun. We had movie night last night—Atomic Blonde. A pretty good action film, if you’re into watching a 10-minute, single take fight scene. Earlier, I spied on birds feeding. One did not look happy. Have a good one.

  4. Good morning everyone and TGIF! I'm glad the weekend is almost here, just one more day of the grind to get through before we get it started. The weather decided to have a sense of humor this morning and turn cold. I looked at the weather channel and saw a frost warning for this morning. I enjoyed what of the community call I could yesterday, it was great as usual. I had to go to the doctor for my yearly and all the preliminary stuff looked good and now it's just waiting for the results of the blood work. I hope you all have a great Friday!

  5. Now Rob I did count 7 clubs haha. So Josh gave the grips to me (Kudos to him). However, I prefer the SuperStroke Traxion Tour Oversize. They are my gamers on my Srixon's so I will be gripping them this evening. Then I will post a first Impression vid.

  6. So, I hated missing the community call, but just as I was finishing work at the GC, my neighbor 200 yards away calls and says there is an awful smell coming downwind from my property. then my son calls to tell me that there is poop bubbling out of the ground. Yup.. poop! I rush home, and sure as sh!t, there it is. Call the septic pumper out to meet me. Says it will be after 530. (It was 230 when I called.) He asked if the tank lid was accessible, if not it's an extra 300 for locating and unearthing. So I grab my trustee rebar and sledge hammer and begin pounding dirt. Turned out I have 2 lids! Saved myself 300 bucks! So this was my afternoon and evening events. Pumper shows up, they pop the lids, and as I was expecting he quoted cousin eddie..."sh!tters full!" They were nice enough to run a tornado line down the leech field pipe though.

  7. Well, since the house is on the market… I will be transferring to Hawaii this summer, and I am promoting to Chief Warrant Officer in 2 weeks. Looking forward to a new chapter in my career and be able to play golf 366 days a year (on leap years) soon. Could use some good vibes from you all on the house sale, we were expecting to be here for 6 years, but 2 is what we got…

  11. An instant classic. Think of the bragging rights on who captures the first wayward Colonel ball. Love it. Quite the collectors item. You could have a raffle on who collects the first pair of “Colonel” balls. Simply priceless. But of course you would need the matching Colonel ball mark.

  21. That was 1st time getting on the call, definitely won't be my last. I wish I knew about this sooner, just ignorant to it I guess. It reminds me of the car forums I used to frequent often, filled with s*** tons of knowledge with it being golf instead of hotrods. The wife says I have expensive hobbies....golf, guns, and muscle cars. Still might be cheaper than hookers and blow, maybe lol. All seriousness, excited to nerd out more since I love the tech side of things, especially since the advancements are ongoing. I really immersed myself a few years back with ball labs and most wanted testing, watching all the NPG episodes, etc. After the call I ran out back and snuck in a few more holes before the sun starts to hide. On that note, the new Tour B RXS barely go as far as the TM Soft response for me.

  25. Good morning, Spies! At the office before 6 am to emulate @sirchunksalot today. Or, to knock stuff out before golfing this afternoon. It's supposed to push 70* today. What a Good Friday! I had three different, diverse people engage me in overtly friendly conversation at the gas station this morning. At 5:00 a.m. no less. After something of a rough week, that was unexpected and welcome. It struck me how something so simple can positively impact someone's day. It did mine. I was grateful for it, and hope to pay that forward. My homestead is rooting hard for Purdue this weekend. My mom, FABWIFE, and eldest daughter are all PU folks. Boiler Up! Good luck @Shankster with your move! I wish you all the very best days and weekends. Happy Easter if you observe. Fairways and greens!

  26. Good morning Spies on a frosty Good Friday morning here in Michigan. Best of luck with the house sale, and congratulations on the promotion and new assignment location @Shankster. Glad to hear initial results from your doctor visit look OK Jason, @sirchunksalot. My schedule for today is to help my son with some repairs he needs to complete on his car this morning, and then I have a tee time for early afternoon. Supposedly getting to about 50 degrees F, and sunny, so at least Mother Nature is cooperating today before we get rain headed our way for the Easter weekend. Hope that your day is the best it possibly can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

  27. Like @GolfSpy_APH said break it down into smaller chunks and dont think about a final score. In addition to what he said take the round 3 holes at a time and try to get a 14 on each of the three hole groups. You get a fresh start every 3 holes so if you miss the target score on one set it doesnt seem so bad for the whole round. It takes your focus off a total score for the round. It is a small mental thing but seems to work for a lot of people.

  28. This is just my opinion but put less focus on the number itself and look at little things like - no penalties off the tee, a no 3 putt round, hit 8 greens in regulation and those sorts of things. You'll find removing some of the big mistakes and those in round goals lead to more pars, more Birdie chances, fewer big numbers (doubles plus) and in the end the scores follow! And breaking 80 is always possible! @GolfSpy SAM didn't due it till last year and crushed it with a 75!

  32. Date 03/29/2024 Course Name Sun City Golf Club Cowan Creek Gross Score 68 Course Handicap 1 Gross Strokes over/under par -4 Net Score to Par -5 Net Score 67 Net Birdies or better Longest Drive SIM Round Well beware of the sick or injured golfer! We played late today. Gave me enough time to hydrate. Still under the weather, but played very well. Hit the driver outstanding and putted insane. Did just enough with the irons and wedges. Hit 10 fairways, but was never really out of position. Hit 11 greens, but really 15 ngreens which made the putts stats look better. I only had 25 putts! Started out hot birdied three of the first four and one putted all four. Birdied number seven to get to minus 4, but didn’t get up and down from the front fringe on eight for a stupid bogey. On nine hit two big shots, but was short sided with a front pin tucked behind the deep front bunker. Safety first and hit the pitch just a touch too long. A two putt par. Played the back 1 under. Two birdies and one bogie. A solid 68, it probably won't get any better this week. I’m not playing again till Saturday. Blue tees rating 69.1 and slope of 122. Course handicap from the Blues was a 1. Attested by Darren Jackson.

  34. I've had the same putter (Odyssey White Hot XG #9) since I first filled my bag. Today I was in Dick's, dicking around, and picked up a few putters to waste time. Now listen, I know the holes are cut bigger and I know the artificial greens "fall"to the cup but something just felt so good about this TM Bandon 3. Out of the five or six that I played with, it certainly stood out. Might just have to sleep on this, though. B

  35. I finally made it home, but after my 6 hour 80 mile drive, I didn’t feel much like going to the range. The good news is I will be there early tomorrow and playing tomorrow. I just ordered a new weight for my hybrid. It has a 10g in it, and Jon said said I needed a 4g instead of the standard 10, and a 10g in my 3 wood instead of the 12g in that. Luckily, I can move a hybrid 10g to the 3w.

  40. And here she is, side-by-side with my DIY version (@Shapotomous) Early impressions: The plastic gives every indication of being of adequate strength. The board really doesn't flex, which is good. For the record, I'm currently about 170lbs. The green surface on the PSB is suitably grippy. I like it. Right now (with limited use): I'm liking the little spikey bits on the bottom of the PSB. One of my biggest issues using my DIY board is that it would spin out (the board would turn counterclockwise as I attempted to use the ground in the downswing). I am going to have to give some attention to whether the PSB affects the carpet underneath it. The spring system works as advertised. It's not ridiculously hard to press down, but you notice it. The "audible" indication that you've gotten adequate weight to the front side is there, but it's relatively quiet. Looking forward to putting in some work here. I know I need to get to my lead side earlier in the swing. So I'm going to be doing a lot of sequencing work on this in the weeks ahead. I also have a Stack session scheduled for today, so I intend to do some warming up on the PSB. I'll try to report back with how that affects my speed numbers.

    Realistic Goal

I've been reading these threads on the journeys of breaking 80 and such. It got me to thinking about what a realistic goal for my year should be. I'm not really sure, I'm pretty sure breaking 80 isn't it! Let me tell you a little about my game and see what you all think. I Just started back playing gold in late fall/ early winter after 12 or so years of not picking up a club. Before that I play sporadically and usually shot in the 90's, I shot mid 80's a few times many years ago. Since starting back I've shot anywhere from 92-102. I've joined a course and trying to play weekly. I seem to have strings of 2 or 3 pars in a round and then 2 or 3 holes where I have trouble even making solid contact with the ball. I have a 20 handicap right now, got my handicap card for the first time ever this year also. What kind of goal should I set for myself 15 handicap? Not sure that breaking 80 is realistic right now but maybe something to work toward?

  42. Got a Stack system so will be joining that thread soon! Plan on doing the first session today. The forum staff have nearly all been making big strides in their games and working to improve so it's time for me to step up as well. Can't let them beat me too badly in a few years when we head to Bandon!

  43. When I initially tried the JumboMax Grips, the size below the one they recommended on their web site fit me best. I tried the size they recommended, but it was too large. The next size down was ideal.

  44. I might have accidentally bought another putter. Wasn't even my fault, my wife wanted to out looking at some yard sales, and someone was selling this for $250 AUD (about $160 USD) with the original headcover and grip, and it would have been rude not to buy it for that.

  45. The website says I should go for large, but I can't imagine needing more than the medium. Can only imagine how fat the XL is! lol. I've tried from XS to M and have a superjumbo (regular grip superjumbo equivalent size) on my garage workbench to try at some point. Agree on the feel and feedback. I'm really liking both the Ultralite and Zenlite grips. Next test grip for me will be the STR8 Tour. Endlessly tinkering. Ha ha

  47. I haven’t made a call in ages Work has been nuts and we’re about to hit our busy season so any chance I have of even listening while at the office is pretty much gone. Disappointed.

  48. I tried the XL Ultralite on the Qi10 and it was too much for me, but I figured try the largest one first, right? I caved in and used the website sizing protocol, and now have a medium on order and will try that once it gets here. I like the tackiness and feedback the grip provides quite a lot. The quality of the ball strike (compressed/thin/heel/etc.) could be felt clearly, but the feel was still soft. Excited to try the medium and see if that works better.
