  2. Good morning Spies, We had a rather rough evening. Five hours in the ER. The foster dog attacked my wife and I yesterday afternoon. I was saved from serious injury by a baggy sweat shirt and leather slippers. I have very minor abrasions and a destroyed t-shirt and slipper. Unfortunately my wife did not fair as well. She required stitches on her right forearm and leg. My wife in a word is amazing. The hospital staff at Crouse Hospital was exceptional. We dont know what triggered the dog. But she was 4 years old and as a stray we dont know her background. Animal control took the dog. Some positive thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. @Dcfrench3 welcome to a wonderful and supportive community. The Good Morning thread is a staple of my day. CHA (Club Hoes Anonymous) is what really sucked me in to forum life when I started becoming active here. @Wheelieb good luck on your retirement. Retirement was thrust upon last year. My quality of life has never been better. Wishing all a wonderful day and a blessed Easter weekend.

  3. Good luck with the house, @Shankster and congrats on moving to Hawaii. @Preeway and @CFreddie hope you had some quality birthdays. — Morning all! Missed the community call last night. Hope it was fun. We had movie night last night—Atomic Blonde. A pretty good action film, if you’re into watching a 10-minute, single take fight scene. Earlier, I spied on birds feeding. One did not look happy. Have a good one.

  6. Good morning everyone and TGIF! I'm glad the weekend is almost here, just one more day of the grind to get through before we get it started. The weather decided to have a sense of humor this morning and turn cold. I looked at the weather channel and saw a frost warning for this morning. I enjoyed what of the community call I could yesterday, it was great as usual. I had to go to the doctor for my yearly and all the preliminary stuff looked good and now it's just waiting for the results of the blood work. I hope you all have a great Friday!

  7. Good morning, Spies! At the office before 6 am to emulate @sirchunksalot today. Or, to knock stuff out before golfing this afternoon. It's supposed to push 70* today. What a Good Friday! I had three different, diverse people engage me in overtly friendly conversation at the gas station this morning. At 5:00 a.m. no less. After something of a rough week, that was unexpected and welcome. It struck me how something so simple can positively impact someone's day. It did mine. I was grateful for it, and hope to pay that forward. My homestead is rooting hard for Purdue this weekend. My mom, FABWIFE, and eldest daughter are all PU folks. Boiler Up! Good luck @Shankster with your move! I wish you all the very best days and weekends. Happy Easter if you observe. Fairways and greens!

  9. Good morning spies and a happy Friday to you. I know a lot of people have today off, I’m a touch jealous. Weather here is high 50s and sunshine today so the golf courses will be busy but, unfortunately I will be grinding away at work. Since July 4th is on a Thursday this year, my employer cancelled our holiday today and moved it to July 5th for a four day weekend at that time. Hopefully today doesn’t drag too much. Have a great day spies!

  10. Good morning Spies on a frosty Good Friday morning here in Michigan. Best of luck with the house sale, and congratulations on the promotion and new assignment location @Shankster. Glad to hear initial results from your doctor visit look OK Jason, @sirchunksalot. My schedule for today is to help my son with some repairs he needs to complete on his car this morning, and then I have a tee time for early afternoon. Supposedly getting to about 50 degrees F, and sunny, so at least Mother Nature is cooperating today before we get rain headed our way for the Easter weekend. Hope that your day is the best it possibly can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

  11. Good morning spies, Chilly Indiana morning (37f), but hoping the forecast is correct and this afternoon I can hit the range and practice greens. I need a full practice session hitting off grass before the weekend round, but what I REALLY need is time on the chipping green, bunker and putting green. Need to get a couple of rounds booked in for next week as it's spring break and I'm sure the courses will be busy. I have a couple of GroupGolfer vouchers I need to use up in April, so will check at least one of those off the list next week. Have a great Friday all and here's to playing well over the weekend. Don't forget the chocolate eggs for mid round fuel!

  12. Morning All, Yesterday I got news that basically confirmed that I am putting in my request to retire next week. I emailed my detailer and asked about getting orders to a certain area, cause if so I’d re-enlist for those orders since retention and recruiting efforts is not the greatest. But with his response, which was not bad at all, it just set the wheels in motion to request to retire. So I will be talking with my Command Career Counselor next week in order to do that. I also thought I was going to have a 4 day weekend, and while I kind of will, I have to go into work today to let someone in for about an hour. No biggie. Rain has stopped, so maybe going to the range after that. hope everyone has a great day.

  13. Good Morning Spies! Another Friday has crept up on us and none to soon by most accounts! Had a decent day on the course yesterday with one exception being the driver. After a promising start on 1st, next two holes were embarrassing so it was put in time out for the remainder of the round... Not sure how long it will remain there but definitely a range session in store. Happy Easter to those who observe and hope everyone has a long weekend in store that includes some golf. Fairways and greens!

  14. Good morning all! We have reached the end of another busy week. Both older kids went to play at some friends houses and I did grocery shopping with our youngest ahead of a busy weekend. My sons birthday is Sunday so trips to see both sets of family this weekend. Though to kick off the weekend he has requested stuff crust pizza so will be attempting a homemade version of that this evening which will need some luck. Just need to get through one more work day. Also belated happy birthday to @CFreddie and @Preeway. Hope they were good days! Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!

  16. Good morning Spies. Nice hot cup of Apple Cinnamon tea with a dollop of honey soothing the last of the sore throat... today should be the last day. No temperature, chills pretty much gone... goodbye to the flu! Back to the practice range this afternoon to work the driver setup again. Have a great day and hit 'em straight!

  17. Good morning MGS troops! Hope this Friday morning finds you well and happy! I’m not coffeeized yet. Still pondering whether to get out of bed. Lucy the Rhodesian Weenback is on the mend. The spousal unit is happy about that, and she’s happy I got to get out and practice yesterday. I only played the back 9 at Airport Golf Club in Cheyenne. We got out late from the surgical team so only had a little time left. I’m trying Golfshot and figuring out the app. It sometimes screws up the club but here are the results from yesterday. The top picture is why I’m using Golfshot. I’m working on swing timing and mechanics. It works with my Apple Watch and measures my swing. Some of the other data right now is inaccurate because I’ve been messing around ant the app has also messed up my shots. But as it learns me and I it it will get better. That’s all I have to report this morning! Hopefully we will all get some golf time today. Happy birdie hunting and have a beautiful day! Wyo out!

  21. @MattWillGolf I am very sorry for this, and hope for a speedy recovery for your wife and you. We had a rescue attack our daughter in the face a few years ago due to food aggression, several months after joining our family and showing no aggressive tendencies. She turned out ok thanks to some skilled surgeons. It is immensely scary and upsetting. Take good care of your wife.

  23. Well, since the house is on the market… I will be transferring to Hawaii this summer, and I am promoting to Chief Warrant Officer in 2 weeks. Looking forward to a new chapter in my career and be able to play golf 366 days a year (on leap years) soon. Could use some good vibes from you all on the house sale, we were expecting to be here for 6 years, but 2 is what we got…

  32. Good morning this Good Friday to you all. To those celebrating the holiest of Holy Weeks; may your faith bring you solace, peace, and strength. @Wheelieb may the retirement decision propel you on another of life’s adventures, thanks for your service. @Shankster hoping the sale of the house goes quickly and the move goes with ease. Congratulations on the promotion and transfer. Congrats to the nation for being able to continue to rely on your continued service. “ Those people “ that pay my salary are still having problems reading a calendar. I am not suppose to be on the clock until next Monday, the 1st. Yet, here I am headed to a work location this morning to replace someone that is having “ personal issues “. The driving, shaking of fists, and hard manual dexterity use of the hands and wrists will be a good test on if they are getting better or worse because of those activities. It will be quite the joke on me, if golf turns out to be the main culprit in causing the wrist and hand issues. May everyone enjoy the coming weekend, whether it is a 4,3, or 2 day timeframe.

    Realistic Goal

Like @GolfSpy_APH said break it down into smaller chunks and dont think about a final score. In addition to what he said take the round 3 holes at a time and try to get a 14 on each of the three hole groups. You get a fresh start every 3 holes so if you miss the target score on one set it doesnt seem so bad for the whole round. It takes your focus off a total score for the round. It is a small mental thing but seems to work for a lot of people.

  35. I might have accidentally bought another putter. Wasn't even my fault, my wife wanted to out looking at some yard sales, and someone was selling this for $250 AUD (about $160 USD) with the original headcover and grip, and it would have been rude not to buy it for that.

  37. Good morning spies, happy Friday! I was supposed to have an early release at 2 from work today but ended up getting a meeting schedule from 2-4 so that killed that. Looking forward to weekend and seeing family. @MattWillGolf I’m sorry to hear that happened. I’m wishing you and your wife a speedy recovery! Have a day everyone!

    Realistic Goal

This is just my opinion but put less focus on the number itself and look at little things like - no penalties off the tee, a no 3 putt round, hit 8 greens in regulation and those sorts of things. You'll find removing some of the big mistakes and those in round goals lead to more pars, more Birdie chances, fewer big numbers (doubles plus) and in the end the scores follow! And breaking 80 is always possible! @GolfSpy SAM didn't due it till last year and crushed it with a 75!

  39. Got a Stack system so will be joining that thread soon! Plan on doing the first session today. The forum staff have nearly all been making big strides in their games and working to improve so it's time for me to step up as well. Realistic Goal

Some great advice already. My improvement came at what felt like a snail's pace - but now looking back at it, it was pretty fast. Two years ago I had never broken 90, and I put that on a list of goals I had for the year. Every Friday (my day off and golfing day (along with any/all other chores/shopping I have to do)), I would make sure I was either playing or practicing, sometimes both. I took a series of lessons that REALLY helped. I started looking at my stats analytically and tried to find areas I could take one or two strokes off every round. For me, consistent iron play and getting better around the green were the two huge ones. I spent a LONG time putting, chipping, pitching, etc. My goal was, when chipping/pitching, to get down in two. It's hard. You don't do it often. But I started getting incrementally more confident in my chipping. And then in my putting. So that was my plan of attack. I shot an 88 about 8 months into 2022. Once that dam was broken, I kept doing it. Not EVERY time, but often. 2023 (late 2023, mind you), I shot a 78, and the next week shot 75. I haven't broken 80 since. Lol, but now I know(!) I can. So much of this game is confidence. Look at your game and pick an area you think you could be better at. Then practice the hell out of that. I found that it often leads to improvements elsewhere. And then come back here and let us know what you're working on - there are SO many smart people on here who LOVE to help! Just my (slightly more than) $0.02 -Matt

  47. An instant classic. Think of the bragging rights on who captures the first wayward Colonel ball. Love it. Quite the collectors item. You could have a raffle on who collects the first pair of “Colonel” balls. Simply priceless. But of course you would need the matching Colonel ball mark.

  48. Congratulations on your promotion! What branch and MOS? Hawaii was a good duty assignment for me in the early 70's. I would advise that Island fever is a real issue for those who do not engage and enjoy available activities. Hope you and your family enjoy the assignment?
