  1. Community call with Aaron Luttrell from Titleist tonight! Super excited about that and for those looking there is another little surprise we dropped today (little early). Pumped to have Stix on board this week for member testing as they are a great brand that offers a different product. Not to mention a product that has been requested nearly more than any other. Full sets - big thanks to Stix and looking forward to see who signs up and ultimately how they perform!

  2. You’re gonna love the DarkSpeed. Side by side it was a dead heat with my Aerojet and I am spanking the out of that right now. Congrats on the great lucky streak!

  3. Well, we have our first copy-cat color. I took a family poll with my wife and kids and the clear winner was blue (it’s also my favorite color in general!). The only non-blue vote was my wife choosing pink, which made me laugh out loud thinking about @Cfhandyman‘s wife stealing his putter if he chose pink! Our LAB fitter answered all of my questions and really helped guide me to something I should be comfortable with right away. In my fitting video, I was using a standard putter, but my gamer putter is armlock. Having not used a standard putter in a year for a single putt, I was holding the standard putter armlock-ish. This lead to some funky initial fitting measurements (32.5” long & 70* lie). We landed on the counterbalance option so I could have the grip and feel of the armlock without being an armlock putter and without the putter being abnormally short. Below are my specs as submitted including the final alignment design: Hand: RIGHT Putting style: COUNTERBALANCED [ $70.00 ] Head weight: HEAVIER Shaft: L.A.B. Golf x TPT Shaft Long [ $399.00 ] Shaft length: 37″ Lie angle: 70 Putter color: DF3 Blue Alignment mark: I & X with line along the back of putter Grip Selection: Garsen Quad Tour 17″ For the alignment aid, I went with the two lines (option I), the LAB logo (option X) and a line down the back because it’s a shoutout to LAB while still having lines from front to back. It also reminds me of a hammer for some reason, which I like. Let me know what you think!

  4. Morning all, It's ANZAC day here in Australia. A day we celebrate all that Australian and New Zealand forces have done in keeping us safe. The date comes from the 25 April 1915 when Allied forces landed at Gallipoli and is a public holiday here. It's a solemn day and had me up early for a dawn service where they celebrate at the sunrise and sunset to give thanks to all those who have served and serve. It's always nice to celebrate for me as my Grandfather fought in WWII and my brother is in the RAF currently. Even got the chance to buy a former Navy officer a coffee before the service which in my days before kids would have been buying them a beer in the pub later in the day! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and take the chance to reach out and thank someone in the forces if you can!

  5. Good morning all, gonna try and get on the community call tonight provided nothing else pops up. Some more great testing opportunity from the mods who are smashing it so far this year. Keep up the good work @SDunne hope you have a great Anzac Day. There is a commemoration service here today at Westminster Abbey in acknowledgement of those that served

  6. With the VCT, you can come and go as you please. There is no weekly obligation to post a score. If you post weekly, great! If you miss a week or three, no worries.

  7. As a mild fan of the Harry Potter series, but a big fan of the Weasley family in those books, the name Weasley would get my vote!

  8. @CSiders12 loss is hard.. The loss of a newborn is crushing and unimaginable. May whatever faith or spiritual belief that you and the family may adhere to, give you all the strength and salve for your grief while you all start recovering.

  10. So while I fully realize it is no longer even close to the morning, I'm still posting here today! Been a busy start to the day and about two hours ago my day got a WHOLE LOT BETTER! As I posted yesterday, I won a giveaway during Masters week for some amazing headcovers from CMC. I won those by making the correct selection of Scottie at -11, and then a random draw from those who had the same. I also won a giveaway from a small Lefties golf page for a hat and a glove, and just found out today that I won a COBRA Darkspeed Season Opener Edition Driver! I was one of three individuals to again pick Scottie at -11. Three golf balls were put into a bag with our names written on them and mine was pulled. To say I am ecstatic is an understatement! It's going to be such a good looking club that I think I'll have a hard time playing it, but that line of drivers has been so dang good that I'm going to have no choice but to give it a whirl. What a day!

  12. Good morning everyone! It's crazy to wake up and see two amazing member testing opportunities from Vokey and Stix. The forum staff are really killing it this year! I might be able to listen in on the community call this evening, I've got to do yard work in a bad way and can't put it off any longer. The yard is looking like a jungle and driving me nuts. I hope you all have a great Thursday!

    How'd you play?

Shot an 85 from the blue tees at Balboa Park. It's a tough course and the wind was up a little, so I feel pretty good about it. Greens were still bumpy from being aerated a month ago so can't really say I putted poorly since I left a few short but most of them rolled past the hole. Just a few too many bogeys and doubles, but avoided any big numbers and had a nice par streak from 12-15. Doubled the hardest par 5 16th which is my nemesis hole, but then parred 17 and 18 to finish strong. Getting closer to my breaking 80 goal from the blue tees for this year. I already shot 77 from the white tees last October. Really just a few solid shots and made putts from a 79. Just getting my confidence back after a dreaded case of the shanks and heel shots, so feeling good about my swing and practice routing as summer approaches.

  17. Is it thirsty Thursday? Water it is for me , going to be in the 80’s today so stay hydrated! May you be blessed to enjoy your day whatever you do , succeed and prosper ! Winding down for the weekend , time flies when you’re getting older , seems to be twice as fast ! Be grateful and kind !

  18. I agree with @frazzman80, small misses you can feel but the performance drop off is not huge. I hit a second shot on the 15th yesterday after I went long with the first. I caught it a little thin and ended up in the middle of the green. So, the thin flew maybe 5-7 yards shorter. High on the face is definitely punishing, but that is what I expected.

  19. Out of those, I think I like Blue Thunder the most! I'm going to throw out a few more just because I'm sad I don't have a putter name: Berry Sulley Motley Blue

  20. I usually use the "tallest" rubber tee on the range and a similar tee height when I play. But today, pre-round, I decided to try a shorter rubber tee on the driving range and VIOLA, I was hitting nice, effortless draws and rarely fading it. I think I have been setting up with my head too far behind the ball, but need to try this more. It feels like it could be a game changer.

  21. Great color selections by the testers, I would be interested in any comments all of the testers would make related to the colors and how they interact with the sun on a bright, sunny summer day. Too shiny? Too much glare? Just curious if they may actually interfere with vision and making the stroke.

  23. I think the 2 month forced break may actually end up being a good thing. I am a little apprehensive to swing full out and as a result my swing is a little more in sync and I am hitting the ball better than I have in a while.

  29. @Tom the Golf Nut... Ouch, that hurts and the fact you have to wait 26 days to get one is insane! @GolfSpy_KFT awesome win on the Darkspeed driver! I can't wait to see the pics and I love it has the same matte carbon top as the King Tec hybrid. I'm trying to narrow down the lawn mower issues and I pulled the fuse and it was fine. I also checked the blade engage switch and tried looking for the ground and couldn't find it. It's cool, I have a self propelled mower I can use and I'm going to call someone to give it a look over. I might build vehicles, but I'm ignorant when it comes to repairs so I need someone smarter than me. I'm still waiting to hear about my car, I know they've driven it because I'm stalking it on car-net.

  30. Good afternoon, golfers. I was a 3rd grade teacher today and thankful to have my day completed. I am not sure where it disappears to and why, but I found my swing again yesterday in league play. Maybe I should stay away from 4 person scrambles???

  31. I'm here to say, I've hit a few balls with the Haywoods so far that were such bad strikes that the club turned in my hands (see image in the breakdown of my 2nd practice round here to see how badly I hit it off the toe...and still hit the green) and the ball still goes. Tiny misses, especially slightly thin, have feel impacts (as in, you can tell you missed) but performance wise the results on course have been good for me (still hitting greens or just a bit short but online, no big left or right misses). I mean, if you chunk it or totally top it, it's going to be bad, but to me they are more forgiving than my Callaway Apex '19s (where on mishits it's going to be a bad miss and even sometimes on good strikes the ball does things I wasn't expecting). The Haywoods let you know you've missed with feedback off the irons (especially the MBs, but the CBs too) but they don't punish me with results (especially on course, into the net with the Rapsodo the numbers do decline, but not badly).

  32. Good Wednesday morning Spies! Going to be a fair day with the wind laying down a bit. Day is filled with honey do tasks but can't complain to much as I will be taking a week off from them next week in Myrtle Beach... @CSiders12 So sorry to hear of your loss. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. @Northern Monkey water leaks are the worst, hope you are able to make repairs quickly. @sirchunksalot and @Tom the Golf Nut hope your vehicle issues come to a close soon. Everyone have a great day!

  33. Well, I’m leaving for vacation (currently on the plane waiting), so I won’t be super active in the thread for a few days, but I’ll try to keep up as best as possible! I got my fitting email back with all of my questions answered. There was some confusion because my gamer putter is armlock and the putter used in the fitting video was a standard putter. 32.5” is very short for someone 5’9”. More details to come once my order is confirmed!

  35. Yep, the idea was to ease the process for those equipped with a compatible device but keep the manual one for the others. I looked at how to share a round from Garmin golf app (on Android) and you can only share it as a picture... Might be for later Good luck to everyone!

  36. Good morning Spies on a record setting low temperature Motor City Community Call morning. Awesome opportunities for the members here from Stix and Titleist Vokey thanks to the efforts of the MGS staff and these club manufacturers. Looking forward to seeing the comments and reviews of those who are selected. Warming up later today, and the NFL Draft is live from downtown Detroit later this evening. Hopefully the city showcases itself well to those in attendance and watching it unfold on television. Hope your day is the best it can be, that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans, and looking forward to seeing many on the community call later today.

  39. Happy Hump Day MGSTroops! Got to play yesterday and had a pretty good time. It was a scramble day but scored better than I played. Today is a good day for grumpy old men like me. This is tomorrow and we old grumpy men expect recognition!!!! Have a nice day!

  40. Date 04/22/2024 Course Name Rose City Gross Score 120 Course Handicap 40 Gross Strokes over/under par 48 Net Score to Par 8 Net Score 80 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 0 Started off ok, though a little weak. Things were going as planned to hit net par until the wheels fell off on the last three holes. The whole back 9 was a bit more of a scramble as my normally trusty 4 wood tee shot stopped going straight, and putting took a dive. Hopefully will have a better score to share this weekend. Horribly beautiful day in the low 60's with plenty of sun and fresh cut grass.
