  4. This is going to help out a ton of people. As of right now I’m the research bot for a friend of mine. However, he has been sent the link so he can start to enjoy his own bargain hunt!

  5. Same here, I can't believe I'd never heard of GolfPartnerUSA. Also Matt I should have lead with this, I agree it was a great article!

  6. As an unbiased user of golf forums I think 2 of the biggest places to both buy and sell and get the best price were left out. Golf forum classified sections are fantastic. I know ours is down right now and wrx has the biggest one, but still a great place to buy and sell. The other is the golf club traders group on Facebook. It has over 166k members and is very active. With either of those options you will generally sell items for more than you would get from a trade in, and if buying you will usually get a better price than any of the big online used sellers and definitely better than retail.

  7. Thanks, all! And obviously, I probably should have put this in the article, but if you have a local shop you love and trust, by ALL MEANS give them your business! I happen to live in an area where the closest golf shop is an hour away, and I don't always have the option to go get hands on.

  8. Great article, and I have only one thing to add. Strength training is a must. Especially if injured. In my right shoulder I have suffered a medial rotator cuff tear, repair, tear off, and a severely damaging bicycle crash. Then I had my right knee replaced last year. The physical therapist in both the knee and shoulder insisted that strength training (never ending) was the key to a pain free damaged/repair zone. Stretching and warm up are a must (do them both ), but if your lats aren't strong enough to pull your club head through that heavy wet sand out of a fairway bunker or quads and low back aren't strong enough to support and turn your torso on that awful side hill lie where the ball is 12 inches below your feet and the grass is wet you are going to hurt at the end of the day.

  11. Nice article, Matt! I thought I knew about every site there was to buy used clubs, but this was the first time hearing about GolfPartnerUSA. I’ll have to remember that one!

  12. Absolutely agree with you. My background is in sports performance training and I agree that it is an essential part of overall sustained health. There will be more articles to come that highlight strength training specifically.

  13. Nearly every club in my bag is from Rock Bottom Golf, or Global Golf, and most of them were purchased used. I like that you are able to trade in clubs, but it does come with limitations, in that you get the higher value as store credit, but then you are limited to their inventory. There is a lot of used inventory, but it comes and goes, and you do need to know what you are looking for. Really enjoyed that this article was part of the newsletter, however, do we really want more golfers in on our secret? It's getting harder and harder to find quality used equipment out in the real world for yourself or trade value. I for one, will not be sharing any further secrets !

  14. Yep, I got my "used" TaylorMades from Callaway's site. I feel that they were in excellent condition despite Callaway calling them "average".

  15. Very well said! I appreciate you providing me some additional resources for when I’m on the hunt for new sticks. I have had success finding clubs at the PGA Superstore as well. They have a variety of preowned clubs to choose from and also sell demo clubs when a new line of equipment is released. For example, When the SM10 was announced they had a bag of demo SM9’s for sale for around $109. The clubs were in good shape compared to the pre owned options. -The AI Smoke line was released during this time and they had a bunch of Paradym Drivers, fairway woods and hybrids to choose from last month Take advantage of the trackman data provided from the simulator to see what type of club/shaft fits your play style. Tip: Bring your Gamer Ball and Glove too. They have a solid 30 day performance guarantee return policy just in case you want to test them on the course. Callaway Preowned has a different sale each month and sometimes offers an additional 25% off when they blast emails. If you live in Las Vegas, Phoenix, or Houston Nellisauction.com has a variety of golf items for a heavily discounted price. I got the Roll a putt Mat for 26 dollars and other gadgets too. May the odds be in your favor.

  16. Great article! I exclusively buy used and highly recommend it any time Im asked IF you do as stated in the article and: you know generally what you need for your game, you do your research extensively, and use common sense when buying. There are a lot of scammers in this market and as long as you ask the right questions and pay attention to red flags you should be fine. FB marketplace/FB club selling groups wasn't mentioned but is also a great option. You do need to be more wary of fake profiles and scams, as it's vetting process for sellers is lenient to nonexistent. Lots of 2 day old Facebook profiles selling sets of brand new irons for stupid low prices should be easy enough to weed out as fake though.

  17. I had never heard of Golf Partner, but will be checking it out. I can vouch for Global Golf…they are always running some kind of sale and I have gotten some really good deals on clubs. I also like that you can start the trade in process and apply that credit to an order ahead of them receiving the clubs.

Where to Buy Used Golf Clubs

Great write up. Always looking for more places to buy clubs I dont need

  19. Definitely not disagreeing with either of those suggestions - where were you when I was writing the dang thing ? Honestly, so much of these is trying to find the best option for a bunch of non-obsessed golf nerds, and to be honest, even if WRX's classifieds section wasn't JUST on another forum (which I'm not sure how HQ would feel about recommending), I've hated several interactions I've had there, and would not recommend it to most people. That being said, I know people have gotten INSANE deals over there, so for the brave amongst this crowd that want to venture over there and deal with ... that ... go for it, lol. As for the FB group, that is impressive, but again - for MOST people reading the main site, FB Marketplace would be the place they'd go to buy/sell clubs long before they joined a user group (or forum). But definitely appreciate the feedback!

    Ben Hogan's Swing

Ben Hogan said Mickey Wright. The bigger question is what criteria are we using to evaluate the swing? Swings are a little bit unique to each player so experts could probably nit pick them all including Hogan. Hogan's swing probably isnt a good model for someone that struggles with a slice.

  22. If someone has limited mobility or ROM in the lumbar spine, for example, that could in turn lead to an increased risk of injury directly related to the golf posture. It's not necessarily a black and white statement. Movements a golfer makes throughout the swing will certainly play role in the risk of injury, but to completely dismiss the golf posture as a potential cause is incorrect IMO. When speaking about compensations, that also plays into the golf posture lending itself to injury. Someone who lacks core strength to stabilize the trunk during a golf swing may put too much reliance on the muscles of the lower back, which could lead to an increased risk of injury. Again, it is not a black and white statement or definitive statement to me, so if reads as that way, it was not the intention.

  23. I wish there was more video of Mickey Wright. The one that is see is pure. I liked watching Payne Stewart and Fred Couples. They look effortless. Smooth and like they never had a care in the world.

    Forum Recap: Rapsodo MLM2PRO

Premium lapsed a couple of years ago as I'm happy with basic info as I'm playing very little golf due to illness issues and using the Rapsodo as a practice motivation in my back yard oh well another hurdle to get over...

  25. If you were to sell it that new person would have to create their own account and pay for the premium membership. I can't say one way or another about changing email, but it would be your premium account that is attached to the email. Which makes sense. Best thing you could look at when your membership is up, stop and start it up with a new email address.

  26. Very nice article. Global Golf and 2nd Swing are where I buy most of my golf clubs. There are some great deals to be had.

  28. I've used all of these places and more. there is a local place near me under the "worldwide golf shops" umbrella and they have a pretty good selection of stuff and their 90 day no questions asked guarantee can't be beat. I traded in 2 or 3 sets of irons within that 90 day timeframe and they didn't push back at all. I wonder where the best place to sell used clubs is? I've always done ebay and haven't had much luck on fb/craigslist/yard sale. trading in is a last ditch effort for me. I've done it a few places and they only give you pennies on the dollar. Frustrating when you see the exact club you're trading in for sale at 120 and they give you 60 for yours, slap a price tag on it and put it in the bin.

  29. Great article. I’ve had to incorporate a warm up routine recently and it’s helped. I lift weights 4-5 times a week but adding more mobility work is something I need to work on.

  30. Great article, and I agree that stretching is important. As I age (I'm 78), I realize just HOW vital it is to maintaining even just normal functions. I have an Orange Whip, and have used it fairly regularly for 3 years, but I suspect that it has caused me problems with my left shoulder (I'm right handed). Last season I began noticing daily soreness with that shoulder. It did not keep me from playing....in fact the soreness would go away while playing or hitting balls.... but the rest of the time I felt the soreness. I began wondering if the super flexibility of the shaft of the Orange Whip was multiplying the weight at the end and putting an excessive amount of torque which strained the shoulder..... MAYBE I was swinging it too hard (I was swinging it at my normal tempo and speed), but I have noticed that over the winter, since I'm not playing or swinging the OW, that my shoulder soreness has gradually declined. I still feel it, but not nearly as much as it was while using the OW. So, even though I think it's a GREAT practice device for tempo, feeling the clubhead lag, etc. I think I'm going to stop using it and just swing a weighted club.....or maybe even nothing at all except for stretching. Of course, maybe it's just an age thing too....I know I'm getting up there and with age comes "aches and pains." Just my .02 cents worth.....

  31. Shoulder injuries are no joke. I've dealt with issues with my left shoulder from years of baseball (was a pitcher and played some college ball). Thankfully never a rotator cuff, but strengthening and stabilizing the shoulder joint is super important!

  32. Absolutely keen on stretching after my outing this past Sunday. I took a buddy out for night golf on his birthday. While I stretched, he swung the club at least 10 times at the tee box. By the back nine, he had slowed down a lot as his back and knee were killing him. He pulled through but the audible groans were not the most pleasant sound. Definitely going to take your advice on the therapeutic gun and work on strengthening my shoulder. A blown rotator cuff sounds atrocious.

  33. A few minutes after I read the Hogan article, I was poking around Facebook and it showed me a reel of Payne Stewart. His swing was pretty sweet too.

  35. To say myself, as well as the entire mod staff, is excited for this opportunity for the forum is a massive understatement. Huge thanks needs to go to Flightscope as well for going ALL-IN with us on this test and @GolfSpy_APH closing the deal on a great call with them. I have a feeling it could lead to a great relationship with FS going forward as well!

  36. With purchase of MLM2Pro comes a one year subscription to their premium service. After the first year, it is an annual renewal of $199.99. The unit can be used without the premium subscription but the functionality is pared down i.e. no spin data, combines, or simulator.

  37. I will echo what @GolfSpy_APH has said. The MLM2Pro is leaps and bounds better than the first generation MLM. To be fair to the MLM, at its inception it was tremendously better than other devices at the same price point. The progression that Rapsodo has made over the generations is astounding and I can’t wait to see what they update next. This unit would be worth your consideration at twice the price. What are you waiting for? Go get one!

  38. I continue to be impressed by the updates to the app and development of this product. It is leaps and bounds a far greater improvement over the MLM and am just so impressed. For the price this is a tough item to pass up for any serious golfer who is in the market.

  39. Great Review. This will most likely be the LM I choose when it's time to pick one up.
