  3. I swear I only took 3 out to putt with. and I put them back in the box. I didn't want to hit them into the net and get them trashed up.

  4. Great recap! I enjoyed following along on this test. The ball seems to be high quality and I agree with @Rob Person, having the interaction and feedback from Odin was great to see! These are definitely on the list to try out.

  5. Great recap! Also to note: how involved and interactive Odin was during the testing process throughout. Providing nearly instant follow-ups, answering questions, and took feedback seriously. I followed through the test, and have to say I'm impressed with everything I read. Great job testers!!!

  8. I would like to add that even though I was not even on the forum for the testing period or anything of the sort, Jordan was quick to email and thank me for the order. It was not a simple automated email either. As he promptly responded to my follow-up email. Can't wait to try the X's out

  9. Love to hear it, @Javs! It is a great feeling ball and I can't wait for spring to get here so I can get it out on the course. Especially after the success you guys found with it!

  10. Great write up! I am still playing the Odin X1 as my primary game ball. I have ordered six boxes!!

  11. As multiple members have stated, @Jordan ODIN Golf was fantastic with interaction with not only our testers but the entire community that engaged in this test! Have to give credit where credit is due to @GolfSpy_BNG for getting this opportunity set up for the forum and for helping to shed light on by all means a great performing golf ball!

  12. I ordered a box of the Odin X's that will be here this weekend to try out. Not the X1's but I am hoping to compare them to the TaylorMade Soft Response and Wilson Duo Softs I have been gaming. The compression on the X's is 80 so I am expecting a big difference.

  13. @Rob Person the fee in Florida, to maintain Handicap through the Florida State Golf Assoc (FSGA) is approx $27 for the year. As @Jnoble89 stated, some memberships include the fee for the FSGA. Each state has their own state association. Keep in mind, if you do some traveling, especially overseas, some courses will require you to validate your handicap in order to play certain tees.
    7 points
  14. Rob, that is correct. To maintain an "official" handicap, there is a yearly fee that is due to the USGA or other governing body. For me personally, the fee is included in my membership at our local country club. Again, unless you're playing in events that require a truly official handicap, one is not 100% necessary. You also can typically play in events that require an official handicap if you do not have one, but I believe a lot of times they require you to play at scratch.

  15. Well written and very informative! I was shocked to learn I would have to pay to maintain a handicap ? Is that correct? Currently I have an excel spreadsheet for a tracker.

  22. Great reviews and write up , I just ordered a box. I was afraid to purchase since I’ve switched over to yellow but I played yesterday with white and only lost one ball due to not seeing where it went. Also got 15% off with MODGOLF code I found on line. Covered shipping costs

  23. As others have stated - this was a great recap, and I am def still using the ball.

  24. lol I couldn’t resist getting it early. So far the AI Smoke appears to be slightly more fade biased than the Paradym but will know more Tuesday night

  25. There has been a lot of excitement about the new Ai-Smoke TD amongst the forum staff. We are yet to see if it will translate to us making purchases ... well one of us already has. However it will be interesting to see how the season progresses with so many drivers available!

  28. Paradym TD is easily the best driver I've had as well. Nice writeup here!

  29. I fully agree that the Callaway Paradym TD is a great driver. I put it in the bag this past summer. Replaced my beloved PXG 0311 Gen 6. I also tried the Ping low spin and the Titleist TSR 3. The Callaway TD is still the best of the group for me.

  30. ... I have been writing reviews for many years now and very rarely do I run across any product that has no negatives, only positives. The Maxfli Tour is just such a product. Compared to a ProV1x I honesty find absolutely zero difference in performance. I could make the argument the durability of the ProV1x is better, but even then It is more the ProV retains its sheen better than the Maxfli, but performance isn't effected. To be fair I start every round with a new ball so I can't comment on playing the same ball multiple rounds. My young 37yr old playing pard is a +2 and after my recommendation he switched to the Maxfli Tour X from the ProV1 and he routinely gets 2 to 3 rounds from one of his Maxfli's. ... As a scratch player I have never paid any attention to what is played on the PGA tour and that would include the ball they use. Now if Titleist wants to provide me with free balls and pay me even a paltry $1,000 a year to play the ProV1x my only question is where do I sign? But since I have to actually pay for my balls and at $30 a dozen when buying the Maxfli Tour 4 dozen Cube, I can't imagine playing any other ball. Ymmv of course ...

    Ben Hogan's Swing

I think the thing that most stood out to me was that he GRINDED to find a swing that worked for him. I'm not necessarily suggesting we model our swings on his in totality, but more the idea that this guy was not a phenom - he worked incredibly hard to find a swing that he could do every. single. time. For me, Hogan's swing is just absolutely beautiful to watch - I won't be modeling every part of my swing on his, for sure, but I WILL be taking his attitude towards getting there as my own. Nine years for him to win. That's insane to me.

    Ben Hogan's Swing

Ben Hogan said Mickey Wright. The bigger question is what criteria are we using to evaluate the swing? Swings are a little bit unique to each player so experts could probably nit pick them all including Hogan. Hogan's swing probably isnt a good model for someone that struggles with a slice.

  34. I bought a nitron after reading these reviews and it is the real deal. The biggest things that won me over were the handbrake, compact size when folded, and the auto open. There is no better feeling than whipping the nitron open in the parking lot

  39. The fee here in Washington is $39 and then some courses add in a fee for their Men's/Ladies Clubs. I think it's $20 at my course, even if you don't play in their Men's/Ladies clubs.

  40. Thank you to everyone that participated and obviously we're happy to hear the testers are enjoying their Sub 70 putters. Feel free to contact us any time if you need anything or have any questions. Hopefully we'll do some more forum testing in 2024!

  41. This is a very timely article given our most recent member test. Also for those that may not have known, it was this item which Jason received which kicked off the conversation for us to get this most recent member test going. Big thanks to him and appreciate him doing this writeup!

  42. Good question - in order to give the best representation of what's available from Cobra today, we were only able to select "stock" options (listed on their website). However, there are many great options available (both woods & shafts), including KBS and Hzrdus varieties. Hope that helps!

  44. Thanks Jason for doing this write-up. I know you are a little bias having taken part in it, but what a cool experience for all. Was nice to see all this in one recap as it was a busy thread to day the least.

  45. I've been playing a Callaway XR16 for many years now. Tried the Epic, the Rogue, and Mavrik and none of them did any better than my XR16, so I stuck with it. Just recently tried the Paradym and Paradym triple diamond and they were both noticeably better than my XR16.. Way more forgiving and longer off the face. The triple diamond was consitently 4 to 5 mph off the face compared to my XR16.. and when I really tagged one it was crazy long.

    Forum Recap: Maxfli Golf Balls

If either of you ever want to make a trip in, let me know. We know a few people who can help with some more comfortable accommodations should you want to stay. Otherwise, I can just grab tee times and if I have any of my discount coupons left help get you better than public prices.

  47. You know what's crazy? I ordered the cube back in February - fully under the assumption that I was buying the "new" 2023 ball. I'm not sure how or why I thought that - it's entirely possible that the new ball hadn't even come out yet (I'm fuzzy on the timeline), but I definitely have all 2021 balls, not the new 2023 ones. Interesting. I would have sworn I had the new ones Thanks for the heads-up! (They're still a great ball, obviously, but I'm loving the new Tour ball, for sure)

  48. I played the Tour X for most of this year, and have just this past month switched to the Tour, as I prefer the softer feeling and I don't seem to miss the extra spin of the X. The durability is surprising - I'm okay with them losing "their luster/gloss", as long as they don't have any cuts or anything to affect ball flight - I played the same ball on Friday, and despite the record number of three-putts (I WISH I could blame the ball for that), it still flew perfectly off the driver on 18, so it's back in my bag ready for the next 18. I bought a dozen of the Yellow Tour to try out this winter, less because of the color and more because I'm curious if there's ANY performance difference (extremely doubtful). I also kind of like playing a yellow ball (shh, don't tell anyone). Oh! One weird thing I've noticed is that with the double-line of the Tour X, a LOT of people think that's a driving range ball. I had one guy pick it up and put it in his cart, claiming that he "thought it was just a range ball" (why would he take that? Good question), and I've had playing partners ignore it when they see it (in the VERY rare instance I hit it offline, ahem) in the rough, thinking it's a range ball. Just a heads-up, in case you ever hit it in the rough
