  1. Hey guys I just got a message from one of our own, our Mod Golfspy_CG2. He asked me to to share that he’s in the hospital with COVID and pneumonia. He’s responding to treatment and hopes to be home in about 3 days. I’ve got him in my prayers and I’m sure he’s appreciate thoughts and prayers from all of us. Stay safe guys, we aren’t quite done with this yet. In the home stretch for sure but it’s not the time to let up yet. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  2. Hey Guys, As @Golfspy_CG2 mentioned in his earlier post regarding some changes in the moderation team, I wanted to formally introduce myself as the new Community Manager for the site - formerly Tarheelvolvo, now know as GolfSpy_THV. What is a Community Manager and how does it differ from a Moderator? Great question! The role will include a bit more behind the scenes work focusing on creating new features and enhancements to the site for all to enjoy - think of it as a business owner creating requirements for development and then managing that process through to implementation.

  3. Got home last night. Feeling better but still low oxygen levels but they have me on home oxygen for that. So im on the slow road back. From what i’ve heard, those that are hospitalized, it may take several weeks to get close to normal. Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement. It really did make a difference! And @jlukes you cracked me up with that comment!

  4. Thanks Rev and everyone for all the prayers, support and encouragement. JB is right, i’m ready to kick Covid to the dump! @hckymeyer had the most appropriate tweet to me last night. That i will handle covid with no issues. But how many clubs will be ordered while im here. Start the over/unders ha Update: i was sick all Christmas weekend, had a fever and coughing. On Monday i started getting short of breath and had a telemedicine call with my Dr. he sent me to the ER. They tested me for COVID and pneumonia and admitted me. Since Tuesday am. 6. So here is a small but good update from this afternoon. Doing ok. They took me for a walk with no oxygen to see how i did. The level dropped to 87 which was expected. But it was good to get out of the room and move around a bit Everything else looks stable. The Dr said i should be able to go home tomorrow, but with oxygen to be used at home for a short period probably. It’ll be nice to finish recovering at home.

MGS has been my “home away from home” on the web for over 10 years. I am very pleased we have this terrific staff. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  9. Thanks all. Day 2 home went well. Had a Telemedicine call with my Dr. to make sure im on track with what I need to be doing. A big step was going with out the oxygen machine most of the afternoon while im just resting. Maintained a decent level of 93 without it. Tomorrow we’ll see what some activity levels are without it. Hopefully it stays above 90 it’d be nice if that activity level was the unboxing of some ZX5 irons at my office But there’s plenty of time for that later! I Am always very good on completing my PT after a surgery or injury. So i won’t chea

  11. Well gents it had to happen. I’m constantly around a lot of people including being in and out of hospitals and spice facilities. I’m as careful as you can reasonably be, wear a mask, keep my distance, wash my hands - though I could better at that last part. I brought communion to someone who is dying on a Monday and the text from her daughter came on Tuesday. After I left she had gotten a call from her work letting her know thats coworker tested positive. You guessed, she went, got tested and is positive. She developed minor symptoms yesterday confirming the test. So I’m quarantined

  13. Today I took advantage of some free time and called into my local Golf Warehouse to get inspired for my next purchase. When I walked through the door my heart skipped a beat when I saw my childhood idol Sir Bob Charles in there doing a book signing. Sir Bob is the greatest Kiwi golfer ever and he's a lefty so I was obsessed with him when I first started playing this beautiful game. Naturally I was far too shy to just rock up and talk to him but then he started talking to one of the fitters about shafts. Next thing I am watching Sir Bob be fitted and talking to him about launch angles and

  23. A HUGE shout-out to First Tee of Naples, Florida and Lipman Family Farms, a local produce company. The following pictures are of a golf practice area that was built at Immokalee High School in Immokalee, Florida. The project was funded by First Tee of Naples with a major donation from Lipman Family Farms. Immokalee is a rural farming community with a large migrant farm worker population and golf isn't really part of the culture in the community. There aren't any golf courses nearby and our golf team members often have to travel a pretty fair distance just to practice. This will give

  24. My father coached HS basketball for 40 years, and I grew-up in the gym with him. I played hoops in college, and semi-professionally after college. I coached HS hoops for years, and had opportunities to coach in college as well. Having kids, and with the lack of pay teaching and coaching provides, I gave up my passion years ago to be able to provide for the family. My oldest played one year, 4th grade, but ultimately decided it wasn’t for him. My next child fell in love with gymnastics, and wants to be a collegiate gymnast. So, my youngest has been trying to find her “thing” so she dec

  26. Doing very well overall. Im off oxygen during the whole day. Still use it at night for a couple more nights to be safe. But my levels are starting to maintain 92 to 93 during the day without the oxygen. Still working toward 95. Hopefully by sometime next week. Im increasing my activity each day. Hope to work my way up to working a couple hours a dsy from home next week. So progress but a bit at a time

  27. In 2020 some things went well and others didn't. Given that I broke 90 about a doz and a half times with a low score of 84 and an ending index of 18.6, not too shabby for a 73 yr old coot who started playing after retirement. So I'm pretty happy with the result. What I'm less happy with was my approach to achieve my goals. It wasn't as disciplined as I would have liked and especially after reading Adam Young's book "The Practice Manual". For 2021, my end goal is to consistently play in the low 80's and at least once break 80. I think I know what needs to get done, but wish I was able to ca

  34. So I realize I haven't updated this thread in a bit. I've been down and out the past 5 days, and slowly getting better. So hopefully I'm able to get some LM time next week to provide some data. And I'm excited to be able to include what could be a real contender for driver of the year, from the early reviews I've seen. The Srixon ZX5 has done really well in some of the YT reviews out there, we'll see how it does for a bit less than YT material club speed I'll have some more pics next week, but it looks really good.

  35. I broke my cherry! I played out of my mind good! I will remember this round of golf for the rest of my life! I finally got the monkey off of my back, and did it! This is also the first time I've ever had a clean card (nothing worse than a par on the scorecard). I guess I need to update my "Broke 80" thing on my profile, to the "Broke 70" one, huh? Golf is frustrating about 99% of the time. And then there's this! Unforgettable for all the right reasons!

  36. My club setup is pretty well locked in for 2021, but I've been thinking of replacing my bag. I was doing some online bargain bin shopping tonight (as is my custom), but was running into a recurring problem. Basic rule of shopping for clearance golf bags: the link will show you the bag in a classy color scheme, but when you click, the only color left is radioactive unicorn vomit. Then I stumbled on this classy bag: I love the understated color scheme. And the Pioneer is always a top performer in Most Wanted testing. Found a site that was selling it below normal retail (which is

  39. ... I always tell golfers that are self conscious that nobody cares how you play as long as you keep up and are pleasant company. On the first hole today, I really put that to a test. I have a 1:36 tee time but come early and the starter tells me he can't get me out early because he is booked with 4somes solid til 1:42. It is 12:15 so I just putt a little and my back is really stiff but I don't want to stretch and warm up only to wait and get stiff again. Starter yells "SAM!" (always a good idea to befriend the starters) and it turns out one of the guys that teed off got an emergency phone cal

  40. Just wanted to post a quick thank you for the many of you who help keep the Forum clean by flagging spam posts. Typically, if you see a post whose text is only slightly coherent and then the post ends with a link to another site, it is very likely spam. This is especially true if the user account is new and this is its first post. When you see a post like that, feel free to report it. Click the three dot menu in the upper right of the post and click "report." You can add your comment, but most of the time, it's pretty self-evident that the post is spam. 46. 82 yesterday in 40 degree weather. Happy but disappointed. I was 7 over headed into a par 5 17 with a chance to break into the 70s. Hooked my drive in the trees and ended up with a double after hitting another tree. Three birdies on the day helped. Arccos data after the round focused on how I missed the green on all 4 par 3s and didn’t get up and down so had four bogeys. I putter pretty good but did miss a few 6-10 footers to save par. Arccos has really helped show me where I’m strong and what I need to work on. I can see multiple rounds in the 70s once it warms up. Shot of the day was I hit i

  47. Titleist TSi3 Driver- Official MGS Forum Review by HeathS16- Introduction- First of all, I would like to thank Titleist and MyGolfSpy for this amazing opportunity. While this is not my first test for MGS, this is my first driver test so here is a video of my swing: My typical ball flight is a slight draw and I tend to launch the ball at a mid/high trajectory. The main miss is a low, nasty little duck-hook that just sneaks up and bites me 2-3 times per round. Due to that miss my driving is BY FAR my worst statistical cat
