  1. As I suspect most of you noticed, we've had some technical difficulties in the past day or so. The Forum regulars have been forced to do something else with the Forum down. So... You know the MyGolfSpy Forum is down when: you suddenly realize that this was a Presidential election year. you end up on another golf website and get mocked for asking about anything other than rebar shafts. something random happens, and instead of telling you Forum, you talk to your wife.

  2. It's taken 9 years but I now present to you my 5,000th post. It's slow compared to some of the have a chats here, but I got there. Hopefully I can get the next 5,000 before 2029. Thanks to all of you for making this, as far as I'm concerned, the BEST golf forum on the interwebs.

  3. Our very first grandchild arrived this morning at 3:30 a.m. Even though we have three kids, at our age we thought we'd never see a grandchild. Do you all think it's too early to give him this present or should I wait a bit (sorry for the sideways photo - can't seem to rotate it)

  5. Well was able to finish my yard work Saturday and today is 70 and just a ridiculously nice week for November overall Dow as able to get to a local par 3 course with @B.Bostonand our kids. Holes range from 80-160ish here and was good to get swinging after over a month of not playing. Good contact overall and was happy with distance. Was bringing a lot right to left so was just off and only hit a few greens. +6 with 2 doubles 2 bogeys and 5 pars. Son played ok. At the age where he does and doesn’t want guidance feet placement was tough and overall his swing looks good but just missi

  6. LOL, all those happened to me. I didn't have anything yesterday to distract me from the election news yesterday I am amazed how many people are freaking out that the 80 gram TX shafts are not available until Jan for the TSi series on a different forum. Come on, most PGA tour players don't use 80 gram driver shafts... I was talking to my wife about my TSi 2 driver. She knows nothing about golf and i am sure doesn't care

  11. So, I didn't spend the money, my wife, Chanin did. She got a new car to replace her 18 year old Rav4. This is a brand new 2021 new release model. I actually like it although there's no where near enough room in the back for clubs unless you put the seats down. It's AWD so she'll be set for winter.

  12. Just wanted to say thanks to the MGS forum. This last week has been one for the books. My entire family has COVID and our daughter's 3rd birthday was Saturday. I started the weed pretty down, but this community has been huge for me. @fixyurdivot sent me a driver to replace my 20 year old stick on my quest to pass the PAT, thr forum selected me as a tester, and so many wonderful members have helped take my mind off of whats going on. We actually packed our kids up in the car and took them on a tour of Halloween lights for the oldest birthday, and I have had some great time with them. All of tha

I will update this first post with deals as they come in, so you don't have to scroll through the thread. EDIT: Trying something different, I have created a Google Spreadsheet to track deals. You all can add deals as well as you come across them. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/173nPxA38Xo3_AMo8iKjZcPMwyk_cNfpvYEFbAEeUtis/edit?usp=sharing

However, we've got 4 lucky golfers who are going to beat those winter blues and keep their games nicely honed and ready for next season with the Spornia Practice Net. 17. Snuck in a final nine hole round before surgery at a local par 3 today, and had the best playing partner ever! The future Mrs. played her first ever round of golf with me, it was absolutely the best day of golf I’ve ever had! Couldn’t even tell you the score, but she had a blast and wants to play again so I’m calling it a win.

  18. Guys...you have to go here: Didn’t hit it well today. And honestly 7400 is a bit much...but even though I only hit 3 or 4 on the screws I had a long of 294. I was still hitting it 265 or so on average with no roll on my miss hits Things were kind of soft. The day was incredible, cool club, cool course and that 19th hole is breathtaking! Came 4 ft from a hole in 1. What a day. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  19. So proud of my daughter. She had multiple college offers for Basketball and Track. She decided to focus on track while pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. Yesterday was the big signing day for her with Belmont Abbey College. Kind of freaked me out. All the camera clicking, newspaper was there for pictures and a rather lengthy article. Speaches from her coaches.

  20. After some time on the range last week, I got out on course twice with the driver this week. This was my first ball on the first tee, with no range warmup. You have to look closely in the lower left hand corner to see the drive distance—-232. This is my longest drive EVER on this hole. And just fo be sure. I hit a second one, that was literally 5 yards to the left of it. This was on a par 5 that im usually around 200 or so, but I carried it just far enough—about 215, to catch a slight downslope. Looking forward to more of these this

  21. Having played Friday and Saturday I figured I wouldn't push it. But my wife said to me at 8:45 this morning, " aren't you going to play golf this morning?" Being the quick thinker that I am, yes dear I wasjust waiting for it toget a little warmer out. Still golf shorts and shirt weather. 74 degrees and sunny. You ever have one of those rounds where you played you butt off but didn't score like you should have. I shot 70 on Friday, 70 on Saturday, played much better today. All but one drive didn't find the fairway. Most drives were dead center and long for me (about 240 to 250). That was

  26. To everyone that commented on this thread: I got the new driver a few days ago, and today was the first time out since my Covid isolation. One of my playing buddies gave me a kn95 mask so we could get out on the course. They noticed my ratty 975J headcover was missing pretty much right away. The 1st hole is a short, tight dog par 4, so I hit the regular six iron, and we all parred so I hit last on the second tee. Its a 400yd par 4, straight away, and I usually have 135 or so left. I ripped my tee shot, got a bunch of oh wows, and staggered up to my ball, 80 yds out. I hit it over 30

  31. Played this ball for my last few rounds before hanging it up for the season. I've had a spin-o-rama driver swing late in the season and not for nothing, I did find more fairways while gaming these. How much of that is me and how much is the ball is open for debate, but I do like the ball. It spins like a Bas***d on the green. And it sure as heck does pick up dirt during normal play. After two holes is was pretty messed up - much like a matte finish ball would be - but it cleans up in the ball washer way better than a matte finish ball does. I'll give Wilson credit - they're trying s

  32. Lots of scouring the bay, golf forums, and the like while waiting on my wife's covid-19 results turned into a Brand Spanking New Titleist TSI3 8* driver head coming my way. The price was so good I had to do a double take. I think I'm gonna have to hit the simulator quite often this winter with new irons and driver in the bag. Maybe even a trip south to actually play a round. Edit: She is negative for those that may be wondering!

  33. TESTERS ANNOUNCED! The stats are clear: hitting the ball further is a huge advantage in scoring lower. Even after the first round of the Masters, when 62-year-old Larry Mize tied bulked-up-Bryson, the bigger picture told a more complete story: As we tweak swings and equipment to maximize every bit of potential, then, we'll be watching with interest to see if these SQAIRZ shoes can unlock a fraction more ball speed for our testers. And those testers will be: @2puttbogey @Larryd3 @Urbs_Valhalla @GregB135 Congrats, guys!

  34. 2020 continues its wrath and I am back in the got problems thread. Got a call from my wife that my Mother fell in her apartment and broke her thigh bone. She's in the hospital (fortunately I can visit during visiting hours) and will have to have surgery. Issue is we need to figure out how to do this since she is only a few months out from her heart attack/stent/blood thinners and need to determine if the orthopedic will do the surgery without taking her off meds. I haven't talked to the Ortho but my wife did and they are talking a rod, plate, and possibly could even require knee replacem

This is a quick review for the Skillest mobile app. Skillest's self-described purpose is "Skillest connects you to the best coaches in the world, allowing you to communicate with your coach entirely remotely; sending swings for analysis and discussing your game through live video." How It Works In the app, you have the option to select from a large selection of golf instructors who have chosen to provide lessons via the Skillest app. The app also provides user reviews of instructors, and some i

  43. Played an interesting course yesterday in Sun City Center called Cypress Creek (66/128). Even though it was only my second time out in the past month or two - after the front I thought I was going to score well. Then came the back - and as the saying goes "a tale of 2 nines". Not quite sure how many balls I lost on the back - maybe 5? - 2 balls on one hole alone . Ended up with a 95 which bumped my index up to 19. However, both my wife and I really liked the course - next time we'll just come with more golf balls. Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention #17 was a 204 yd par 3 (140+ yds to c

  44. Shot 41/40/81 today with mid 80’s weather. On the #6 Par 3, I skulled my 8 iron to just before the right front bunker. I then hit my 58* Zipcore wanting to flop it over the bunker and onto the green. However, I slammed the ball into the berm above the bunker only to watch it bounce high onto the green then roll 25 yards to a back pin then disappear into the hole for a Birdie. My buddies just stood in shock shaking their heads.....What a day! I love this game! Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

Here is also a picture of my daughter and I scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef. I was one of those part-time golfers for years, and only started digging into the game the last 10 or so years. 47. Ok guys. Got my first classic bag round in today. I’ve decided I will play a different set from a different era for each round starting with my oldest set working up to my circa 1994 set. Today’s round was with my circa 1949-51 Powerbilt set. The irons are 2-9 Powerbilt 8990 DTC’s from 1949. The woods 1,3,4 are Powerbilt 500’s from 1951 or 52. The sand wedge is a Powerbilt Sand Blaster wedge and the putter is a Otey Chrisman made hickory shafted Powerbilt probably from around 1960. The woods and irons all have the original cork and rubber vulcanized grips. Ball was the Wilson Zip.
