    Forum Community Calls

Another great call with a lot of discussion and topics covered. Another week with a lot of participation, 26 members on at various times all providing questions or answers through both the call itself and chat feature. Pretty cool for me to see Derek @EasyPutter on the course, especially since I was still at work and could only hope for that opportunity today. @Cfhandyman great video, I watched it after getting home, and thanks for providing some insight into the whole production during the Community Call. Already looking forward to next week's call with the yet to be announced guest.

  2. Oh what a feeling to be on the Community Call again from a golf course! seems like forever since I last joined a call from last year's regular course Elma Meadows GC along Buffalo Creek. Today was from my old regular course Cazenovia GC along Cazenovia Creek in South Buffalo bordering my town of West Seneca. That "stream" in the UK would be called a "river" and that ball under the tree was 2 feet from escaping like @Yellow Ball off for a swim down a 20 foot high and steep embankment. And you got it right I am trying to get back to my 20 handicap before Kingsmill AND trying to train the clubs and balls to miss the unplayable parts of the course! Thanks Jason! I'm always thinking of you when I connect in from a golf course to give you at least one vicarious round a week to be out there with me and 40 days tomorrow until we get to do it for real at Kingsmill

  3. I can't wait Derek! I'm actually planning to get a round in Saturday with some guys from work and it's going to be great to be out on the course after a couple of less than stellar weekends. When though I haven't seeing a club in a couple of weeks, I'm planning on having a good time and not being overly concerned on what I shoot, I just want to play.

  4. Here we go, gang! My first official FFG workout, using the home bands and dumbbells protocol. Only I'm not at home, I had one band with me, the hotel had a mismatched set of dumbbells, but it did have a cable machine which I used in place of heavier bands. So I got the workout done with what was available. After the warmup session and first superset were completed in my room with that one band, I went down to the fitness center for the second and third supersets. None of it was super hard, but after three supersets with no more than 45 seconds rest between anything, I was very happy to finish and even happier to see this on the app:

  5. Another option to consider is the use of a counter balanced putter grip, like the Evnroll gravity grip. The Evnroll gravity grip is a counter balanced grip. It has an EVA foam body molded in a deep V shape. A 70 gram 10” steel rod is installed in the bottom of the V running the entire length of the grip. According to Evnroll, by positioning the weight directly under and a half-inch away from the shaft, the hands can feel the position of the putter face. Tying the hands to the putter face promotes keeping the putter’s face angle square thru the entire hitting area. This virtually eliminates face rotation at impact. This heavier-than-usual grip weight allows for more weight in the putter head. The result is a greater overall weight for increased stability and accuracy, while maintaining an ideal swing weight for optimum feel and distance control.

  6. I regularly listen to the Club Junkie Podcast with Brian Knudson. He commented that the cappuccino color on his Mezz putter looks much better in person than what you see on the website and in pictures. He also did a podcast with the DF3 putter which he got in platinum.

  7. Nobody has seen a pink build. I personally don't have a problem with the "Bubba" model, but boy oh boy, I can just hear the razzing on the golf course. Mind you when I consistently make those 5-6 footers, that will shut them up. Look, if enough people demand it, I'm open to getting and testing it. So who wants to see me in pink?

  8. I love all the colors they've added somewhat recently. From what I can tell, the cappuccino looks

  9. I hate you! I am looking to get the DF3 in orange. I will embrace the goldfish because of Ted Lasso. It is an attitude that is especially important when it comes to putting. “You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It’s a goldfish. You know why? It’s got a ten-second memory. Be a goldfish.”

  10. I am awaiting a dialog with the L.A.B. Golf fitter. My initial reply from them last week was for a shaft length of 34.5" and 68° which is 1 degree flatter from their standard lie. This is the configuration I am looking at the moment.

  12. Some great thoughts here - as I've mentioned before, I've been toying with the idea of a CB putter. And based on that article, I (like @jbern) could be a good candidate to go CB as I typically struggle on lag putting. Regardless, I plan on talking to my fitter about the CB option - who knows what could happen! @Cfhandyman - thanks for sharing the gravity grip, as I've never heard / hit one before. Curious if this could work on a LAB, given the grip differences with the press grips they normally sell with their putters. Plus, I'd have to imagine it could throw off the balanced weight of the putter, right? Also, I'd LOVE to see (someone else) in a pink head - I don't think I could pull that trigger.

  13. I didn't pipe up, but I'm also doing speed work (Rypstick) along with FFG. I'm thinking I'll try doing a Rypstick session before/on the same day of an FFG workout. That way I'll have maximum rest from my last FFG. Rypstick is like 15 minutes and my FFG sessions are 30 minutes for now, so it shouldn't be much of a time crunch except when I'm on a business trip where I'm flying (like next week to Detroit). Don't think I can smuggle the Rypstick into the overhead bin and it sure won't fit in my suitcase.

  18. i had the same dilemma...luv my 2.1 but as a self diagnosed certifiable club ho i couldn't resist and now have the DF3 too...it is every bit as good as the 2.1 (imo) but the DF3 does win on looks (again imo) and the the EE alignment option is working just as i hoped which is point and shoot (i am a find the straight putt putter tho)...just food for thought

  19. Thanks @SDunne the greenkeepers have done a good job over winter and it’s in great condition considering how much rain we’ve had the last few months. It’s Sidcup Golf Club in south east London, I’ve been a member here for four years now. Hope you enjoy your golf over the weekend and ANZAC day

  20. Lovely looking course @Northern Monkey - where do you play? Glad you're getting out, work has been mental so looking forward to the weekend when I aim to get down both days to at least the putting green for more work. I've got rounds booked for next week as we have ANZAC day here which is a public holiday. I've also got some time lined up with my father in law at a local indoor facility where they have PuttView (i.e. where it traces out your line from above and shows how close to optimum speed/line you've got).

  23. My main putting issue is tempo and speed, especially from putts over 20'. From the article, this would put me squarely in the category of golfers that might benefit from a counterbalanced putter. MORE OPTIONS TO CONSIDER!!! My current armlock putter would serve as a counterbalance putter if I gripped it like a normal putter. Since I lock the bulk of the grip against my forearm, this removes the counterbalanced feeling. It's definitely something else to think about and talk to the fitter about, but I think I'm going to lean towards normal weighting unless recommended by the fitter. Even though it's not available on their website, I am going ask about a DF3 broomstick putter. I have tried several different broomstick putters (not L.A.B. though) and they feel pretty natural to me.

  24. Yesterday evening, we had a call with Mike Carroll to have a chance for any Q&A we might have since the app is officially out for Android users (iOS folks likely have a couple more weeks). I found it very useful and look forward to getting going. I plan to start Monday 4/22 with a home-based workout focusing on speed. One question I had for him was how to incorporate speed training (SuperSpeed, Stack, etc.) into my workouts. By way of background, I was one of the forum testers of SuperSpeed back in 2020 and have done little more than some maintenance workouts since that summer (I saw incredible results, BTW 102 mph to start, 120 mph at the end). He suggested I try incorporating SuperSpeed into my FitForGolf workout: do the FFG dynamic warm-up; do the SuperSpeed protocol; then finish up with the FFG workout I have chosen. Since I am planning on doing a home-based workout, it should be entirely feasible to do as he suggested.

  25. Found a crazy deal on a Stealth 2+ Driver & 3w. Got to try them out on the sim and let me just say the 3w is HOTTT. Both clubs feel good so be interesting to see some results at the range and the course. Wonder if the Stealth 2+ replaces the G425 Max

  26. I had a great save today with the Lob Wedge. When I got home from golf, I pitched my wallet into the tray by the door and missed. It bounced behind the TV. I grabbed my 60° and scooped it right out of there without moving furniture. Does that count?

  27. Nothing special, grabbed a box of Tour X's from Dick's and while browsing Wal-Mart found the last box of Pro Drips that I couldn't just leave behind all alone there in that madhouse!
