  1. I've mentioned before that I work for a major auto manufacturer and one of the perks is killer deals on lease cars. I went yesterday and replaced mine with an Audi Q3. I've been wanting to lease an SUV, but never found one at the right price until recently. Our company was offering major incentives on the Audi brand and I couldn't pass it up. It rides good, looks amazing, and I've just always wanted a digital cockpit. Figuring out the radio was a hassle, but push enough buttons and it works itself out.

  2. Would love to see a company do a utility iron + hybrid test. Each tester gets both clubs in a similar loft and then testing centers around on course performance comparisons

  3. Put in an offer on a house yesterday which was accepted today. Barring any discoveries during inspection I'm going to be a homeowner for the 2nd time, however with a much, much larger mortgage this time around. Nervous, scared, excited, anxious -- so many questions and things to consider. One thing for sure, I am going to have to stop club-hoing and be more budget conscious which scares me more than anything.

  4. We'll be starting the 2021 MyGolfSpy Forum testing season soon! A little peak behind the curtain: I regularly have members ask what gear is on the calendar for the upcoming year. The total truth: we almost never know. The OEMs are really in the driver's seat when it comes to testing. Their priorities have a much greater impact on what we do in testing, and that's as it should be. (As a reminder, that's also why some tests are US only or have other restrictions.) An OEM might make a whole line of products, but they're going to offer for Forum testing the products that they want to create b

  6. Obviously, big ticket items are fun to read about. But there are small ticket items I would love to see, also: More DTC brands. I think the Sub70 test last year was wildly successful. Would love to see their wedges. But brands like Haywood Golf, Ballistic Golf, Golfworks, etc. Bringing back something like the Ping long game challenge would be cool. That was an amazing opportunity for the testers and a fun read. Shaft testing is intriguing, but kind of difficult to execute. We've had some really good efforts with the past ones, though. Experiences (though tough to do

  7. Once again, let's not speculate on the cause. This isn't about protecting Tiger. It's because we don't know; right now, we can't know, so by definition, we'll be arguing with absolutely no ability to resolve the argument. It's a recipe for strife without resolution on the Forum. There are plenty of places to post your speculations; this won't be one of them.

  8. To support my buying habits and feel okay about them, I find ways to perform crazy transactions. For example, related to that SIM Max above: Purchase price of the SIM Max was $499 but I traded in a PXG 0811 XF Gen 2 for like $320 trade credit (50% trade in bonus and PXGs were expensive at the time) Sold the stock TM Ventus Red (non-velocore) on ebay for slightly over $100. Bought a Ventus Red Velocore for $150 on ebay. Sold for about $200 after 1 year of use. Did have to buy back a stock shaft to trade in with the SIM Max, so got a TM stock Ventus Blue (non-Velo

  9. Well, that's some compromise; a few hours drive vs 5 hours in a plane and 3 time zones. However, once things settle down, I could be talked into a trip east later in the summer. IMO wife and I are driving to LA in 3 weeks to attend Monte's clinic; 1000 miles. I want to attend his clinic early so I have all summer to screw it up. Only 6 students for 3 days; my wife and I and 4 others. Should be fun.

  10. My special order MMT shafts came in this week. Very quick turnaround time from Mitsubishi, I think it took less than a day from time of order to grips4less receiving them and then shipping to me took one additional day. Side note, I used grips4less for a lot of things in the past month and they've been fantastic to work with, and the free shipping over $75 is awesome. The hybrid shaft is matte while the utility is gloss to match the iron shafts. The original plan was just to start with one hybrid shaft in the Super Hybrid, but I figured I ordered a second shaft and might as wel

  11. 10.5 I am not sure if this was hoeist or the time I bought a left handed club just to pull the shaft (Ventus Velocore), then bought the same club in right handed but with a cheap stock shaft, pulled the cheap stock shaft and put the stock shaft in the left handed club and then sent that as a trade in.

  14. Lots of good stuff posted. I like where @edingc is going with a little competition within the testing too. -I'd like to see a Srixion iron test with them being praised but still a smaller brand -Any driver test... because its the Boom Stick! -Putters because they're so personal and there's so much variety in shape and materials. -I'd love to see a Planemate review. I know several members already been doing this and talking about it. I could see that getting going like Super Speed has. -Superspeed C maybe? And of course I'd love to see a #CCC5. It's a

  15. I've made the decision with my wife that I'll be joining the local semi-private golf club which is 5 minutes from our house. Slope is 140 and 141 from the member tee and the tips., maxing at at 7k yards Last year was a terror making tee times each week, but also finding a quality course to play without dealing with too many yahoos and 5 hour rounds. Looking forward to playing a fantastic course week in and week out, allowing my golf game to grow at a wonderful facility.

  16. I don't have a lot of different swing thoughts in general, but on the course I'd say I do things in order. I'll make some kind of rehearsal, a short practice swing, a slow-motion swing, an exaggerated drill, but something with a specific internal focus. But when I get to the ball, its all external focus, thoughts about the target, or visualization of the shot I want to hit.

  17. So I didn't buy it, but my fiancé did for my birthday at my request. I'm getting a new Ping Hoofer Lite to actually make walking more courses a thing this year, and if she starts playing she pay take my push cart. I love her a lot, she's really great. Oh, I guess I also bought the SIK Flo from my putter fitting thread since last I jumped in here as well.

  18. ... I have a playing pard this winter from Chicago. He is 49 and seriously long. I am giving up about 20 years and considerable length. One of the biggest differences between us is when I hit a bad tee shot I am usually in play. His bad tee shots are so long they bring stuff into play I can't reach. We play a short uphill par 4 that requires a 280yd carry over water to drive the green OR a long iron over the right side of the water that is a 220 carry for a LW in OR lay up short of the water leaving 110-120yds to the flag. He hits driver occasionally, 2 iron quite often and hit some spectacula

  20. I had to come home from work and do some touch up cleaning on my car because I found out today that my new lease is in and I am scheduled to pick it up tomorrow. I was hoping to get a full practice session in, but I ended up taking a few swings at the Divot Board instead. It's starting to get there, still have a long way to go, but I'm loving the feedback I'm getting from it. I'm still working on not swaying and better rotation. Getting out of the habit of relying on my arms in the golf swing is going to be a long, hard road but one I hope pays off.

  25. On Get Up this morning, Wojo, had spoken to a couple orthopedic surgeons who read the statement from the Chief Medical Officer on Tigers injuries. The compared it to not unlike Alex Smith's injury in the way that infection from the bones that broke the skin were among the major concerns. We don't know if the actual injuries and surgeries are similar, but if Alex Smith can come back and have Aaron Donald jump on his back for a piggy back ride and go on to play reasonably well. Maybe Tiger will make it all the way back. But that appears a long way off and certainly not the top priority

  27. Got my new GoPro today and had to brush up on the editing skills a bit before breaking it out for golf-related things. Safe to say I majorly annoyed the dog this afternoon: Going to take a bit of practice with the frame rates and resolution on the GoPro before things get real polished. It's been well over a decade since I've done any video editing outside of iMovie and I'm pretty rusty (using HitFilm Express at the moment).

  29. It never ends... i received my TS2 16.5* on Friday, the 19* and 21* hybrids aren’t coming for another 3 weeks because the shaft is back ordered, and I’m already debating whether to switch out to a 7 wood... Any thoughts you have on the matter would be appreciated. I know you’ve tried a club or two in your day, and from prior conversations I know we hit the ball similar distances...

  32. Was supposed to be in the 60s today, but it probably never got out of the low 50s with lots of clouds and some rain. The course was completely saturated and unless you were on a hill you were standing in casual water. Short game and putting were solid but my full swing was a mess. 41/40:81 4 fairways, 7 greens, 30 putts.

  33. Most Wanted and Forum Testing are two totally different entities and really serve two different audiences. Most Wanted is to help the average consumer who usually buys off the rack without getting fit, to have an idea of what drivers performed the best over a large range of testers. Forum Testing is targeted obviously to our Forum readers who are more likely interested in details of how a particular driver worked for someone that may have similar swing DNA to them, over a period of 4-6 weeks which likely includes several rounds and range sessions. It also allows t

Married 12 years in July, 2 kids 4 and 16. I play maybe once a month, if I'm lucky twice. I live in oro valley, az luckily weather in the desert is fair most of the year so I spend a lot of time hitting in the net out back. I'm a 16 handicap, my driver and short game hurt the score but I've been working on it so fingers crossed. Now the clubs. Driver: Callaway Mavrik 9* set to 8* neutral.
