  2. I'm just now getting on the forum, I've had an adventurous evening and not in a good way. I left work and started to get in the interstate when my car decided to get a case of the rumbles, it felt like I was driving in the rumble strip on the side of the road. I saw the check engine light and an EPC warning along with "auto stop/start not working". Fortunately, there's another exit two miles down and a Walmart there. I called the wife to come pick me up and roadside assistance to get the car. We drove to the dealership after getting the car towed and I should have taken the left at Albuquerque. Instead, I hit Bonny Oaks drive which was not Shallowford road. My wife says not to worry, we can take Hickory Valley and cut across. Unfortunately, making a left there was brutal. The intersection had a red light, but coming from my direction it didn't have a turn light. I waited three turns off the light before I just kind of blew the thing. I had been waiting for around 10 minutes and the wife suggested the suicidal maneuver. I got to the dealership where I was hoping to get a loaner car while mine was being repaired, but they don't loan cars to employees. That was a waste of time. We had to stop and pick up dinner and now I've eaten and cleaned up for tomorrow. I'm going to be driving the wife's car tomorrow since I didn't want to deal with the leasing company simply because I've heard that there's 12 people in line for a loaner ahead of me. Hopefully they'll get the car back on the road quick.

  3. Late to the party today! Hope your Monday is progressing better than Mondays usually do. I had a busy weekend with golf a big part of it. Saturday, I tweaked my already sore right knee and barely made it through the round. Shot 83 with 3 doubles, but did have 2 birdies. Here’s the first one on the par 3 4th hole (my ball is the closest one; the other was a playing partner’s chip shot)... The other birdie was on the par 3 #15 and it was about a foot away. Unfortunately, those were my typical putts made; pretty sure I only had 20 feet of putts made for 18 holes. But I could hardly walk after the round. I wouldn’t have played yesterday if it wasn’t our anniversary; we always play on our anniversary and birthdays. I taped my knee and wore a knee brace, and it wasn’t too bad. Planning to schedule knee replacement in the fall. I shot 80; still had 3 doubles, but only one birdie... a 20-foot putt on the par 4 #14. At the clubhouse waiting to tee off, two groups of new visitors... Today was my cardiac rehab day, then mowed the lawn. My BIL came over from Seattle for another visit so we will be playing golf again tomorrow… another knee tape-job!!

  4. Here are some photos I took, with all clubs in the bag as well. The bigger head cover, did give me a little challenge, but it was all just about where the headcover is pointed.

  7. Had my first tracked round of the year today, and Arccos was an unmitigated total dumpster fire. Started the round, for some reason, without engaging the phone's microphone, so it was not automatically picking up any shots. And then the manual putting entry was another level of garbage. Whether attempting to drag the hole location and the first putt location to their proper spots, or using the distance entry, I'm amazed that neither the hole location nor the first putt location will stay in their proper places, but constantly jump around. I had issue with this last summer (using a Samsung), but it was an order of magnitude worse using my Pixel today. I might actually break out an old iPhone 6 (that doesn't even have a SIM card) to see if that will work.

  11. Definitely very similar. I was at MGS HQ today and Connor uses a Vessel bag so I took an opportunity to check it out. There are subtle differences in the leg mechanics and some finish details. the storage of the Vessel seems to be a little less even with the larger side pocket though I am not sure which Vessel model he has. I'll try to remember to ask him tomorrow.

  12. To sum up today’s play, these made my round really easy. I feel incredibly comfortable on the course gauging distances and short shots offer a lot of versatility between wedge choices. Below is one more, the first one I recorded this morning and it was an approach I historically would dread…forward pin to a back to front slope green. I hit the 59 without any fear and had an 8 footer left for my 3.

    How'd you play?

Played yesterday early afternoon at a local course that typically allows me to play many clubs less than a driver off the tee on many of the holes, due to layout of the holes and course. Was sunny, very windy and about 50 degrees, so perfect golf weather in April in the Midwest. Ended up behind a foursome that must have written the book on both slow play and lack of common courtesy. Best thing is they only played 9 holes, so we played the front in 2 1/2 hours, and the back in under 1 1/2 hour. Had an 80, 40 each side, par is 73 (36/37), and did not attempt to hit many greens in regulation on the front 9, as the slow play ahead of us allowed me to hit multiple wedge shots into each green, and it was good to practice anyways. View of hole 3, short par 3 dead into the wind. View looking to the north end of the course showing how many others braved the colder elements to play. Typical par 4 layout, green here is left of the trees lining the fairway, best option something about 180 - 200 yards off the tee, then left with a short iron or wedge into the green. The epitome of slow play. He played the white tees, and here he was playing his 3rd shot on this hole. Didn't matter to them that they were holding up the whole course behind them. Another short par 4 on the back, green slightly left behind the trees on the left, again 180 - 200 yards off the tee, and a short club into the green. A tributary of the Clinton River runs through this course. This course is very low laying, and the water level is up slightly with the rain we have had this spring. If/when we get heavy rains during the summer months, this area generally is flooded, and the course not playable. Still a cool picture with the Weeping Willow trees and the blue skies.

  20. I was just talking about the lining; not the entire ball pocket, with the "ghost" lettering. Started taking a closer look and it also seems that the padded area above the side pockets is different. Yours is the same material as the bag and mine is a cloth material. @GolfSpy_KFT and @Preeway, you both have the Ghost Oreo bags; what material is the rain hood (does it match the bag or is it a heavy cloth) and what is the material above the side pockets (again match bag or cloth) ?

  22. I know it has been about 5 days since last posted on here. I was not expecting to lose all service up in the Highlands though... I did not get to practice at all up there, but I did get to play a round at a place called Sky Valley Country Club and Resort! If you want a fun track in the mountains, this is got to be one of them. It was located 20 minutes outside of Highlands, NC (Bobby Jones was the founder of the Highlands Country Club, but that like every other club up within 20 mins was Private. So this was the closest I found to being open to public.) It was amazing! I will post a video explaining Sky Valley because it was weird to start out from the start, and easier to explain. I shot at an 89, with a rough hungover front 9 which probably hurt me. Here are some pictures though.

    How'd you play?

Got out for 9 yesterday; temps dropped a bit and wind picked up a bit in the afternoon but hey it was still a good day to be out on a golf course! Played ok-ish, i.e. g-o-l-f ... Good: Wedges - chips and pitches onto greens were all ok - avg first putt distance over past 3 x 9 hole rounds about 22 ft. Really good (at the risk of jinxing myself ): Putting - just felt comfortable with it .. 15 putts! .. prior two rounds were 16 and 17 - no 3-putts this round and just one in the last 27 holes (.. no jinx no jinx no jinx ...) Short Game - one nice up & down from a tricky lie pin-high / left off the green, about 30 yds from the flag Not so good: Tee shots - maybe I'm starting to get a little too aggressive and am trying too hard .. had a few go off to the right and so had to punch out... - Par 3s still continue to confound me; cannot stop screwing these up... Really not so good: Second shots - this is where I'm making the most mistakes and not sure why. Irons and hybrids on the range are starting to get much more solid, and it's occasionally transferring onto the course .. but only occasionally... - Maybe time for another lesson! And, well, bad: Once again sent a ball into each of the two ridiculously small water hazards on this 9 hole stretch .. one for a double on the short Par 3 (re-tee'ed, didn't drop by the hazard) and one for a triple (ouch) on the last hole... Overall +13/48 Work. In. Progress.

    How'd you play?

I played Saturday, too. A little warmer but much windier. I was very happy with an 83 given the course and the weather. Sunday with @DiscipleofPenick, I felt like I could never get totally lose and "finish" my swings. Not too disappointed in the 88, especially considering some of the drives I had.

  34. Ok. So I've played 3 rounds with the new irons and had 2 or 3 sessions at the range. Here is my assessment. WOW. I haven't hit irons this well since my set of Titleist 990 irons a long time ago. What I will say is this, it is crucial to find the proper shaft / iron head combo. I finally feel like the entire club is working in unison. My distances are about the same with my previous irons (Sub70), but the control is much better, and I attribute a lot of that to the shaft. The ball flight is penetrating and predictable. On Sat I played some pretty hard greens and I was able to stop the ball easily, while my playing partners were taking a big hop way past the flag. The feel of the clubs are excellent. One thing I noticed right away was the distance predictability on off-center hits. A few times, I've hit towards the toe and the loss of distance was minimal. Dead center hits feel pure, as they should, but the overall consistency is great. I have as much confidence with my 5 iron as I do with the 8 knowing that even something off center will get it to the green. I kinda wish I bought the 4 iron. The biggest surprise is the Tour V.T. Sole. As I stated in my original post, I am a greenskeeper's worst nightmare taking massive divots. The VT sole really helps move the head through the ball and not into the dirt. Granted the fairways have been a little firm so perhaps the ground is pushing the club through, but so far, I'v noticed a change. Overall, I would rate these irons a 90 out 100. I will revisit this rating in August once I've had a full season with them and the "new club" grave period is over. For anyone looking for new irons, I would say don't rush it and don't have brand bias. Hit as many different brands and models as you can, and choose the one that is right for you. To be honest Srixon were not at the top of the list prior to this process. My playing partner on Sat just bought a new set of Pings, and is a little upset his local club don't carry Srixon after taking a few swings with mine. Until a brand pays me play their clubs, I will keep an open mind towards everything as long as it works.

  35. Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful, cool morning and I'm just hanging out in my wife's car before work. Hopefully I'll find something out about mine today and I hope they find something as the warning went off before I got it towed. I don't want to be driving something that might mess up on me. I hope you all have a great day!

  41. I would say the over all materials used are the same, however the ball pocket almost seems thicker, if that makes sense. It is the synthetic leather though, with the ball pocket lining. This is an interesting to me. @arodrig29, I saw your picture which looked liked mine from the outside but does yours have the Ghost lining and is it the synthetic leather or a cloth material?
    3 points
  42. Looks like your rain hood is the same material as your bag has a lining similar to what is inside the ball pocket? Mine has no lining and is a thick I'll say cloth material.

  43. Hate to hear that @GolfSpy MPR - I've been using my Arccos on my last round and didn't have much of any issue (although I had to manually set almost every pin). You have me a bit worried about using it for this test - I know GPS on it isn't perfect, but I tend to "place" the pin as I'm basically touching the flag so I feel like I'm getting somewhat close here.

  44. Nine holes today on a very familiar what you see is what you get course. I wasn’t interested in keeping score and purposefully hit tee shots to give me anything from 30-120 yards into the green. Below are some YouTube links of videos I took today…for the longest time I was terrified of hitting lob wedges from the fairway from 30-40 yards…not today…Also includes some 50 yard pitches, full swings and some 50* pitches…really happy right now… IMG_4157.mov IMG_4155.mov

  47. Played a very cold round yesterday morning with @MaxEntropy. It was about 40 with the windchill making it a little colder when we teed off, and it just stayed there the whole day. I thought I had a chance to break 80 but I bogeyed 18. After I looked at the scorecard, and yep, the bogey gave me a 40-40 day, which is still solid given the cold weather. I only hit 5 greens, but had 6 more up & downs., and two of the greens I hit were 3-putts. Drove the ball well and played one ball the whole round.

  48. Good news from L.A.B. Fitting results are in This is what I received. Your up next @CFreddie “Hi Chris, Thank you for your video! Your putter looks to be resting in a good position flat on the ground. Your suggested specs for lie angle and length are 69°/35.5”, which is pretty standard. Your eyeline looks like it's a little inside the ball which is why I'd like to take you down to 35.5" in length. This should help your eyes fall a little more over the ball.. Please let me know if you have any questions about your position or our products! If you’re still deciding on which putter, know that these specs would be the same for all of our models, as long as the style doesn’t change (armlock, broomstick, etc). If you have an order already placed, please send confirmation of what specs you would like that order updated with so we can proceed with your putter.
