  1. It's up! Finally - I amaze myself at the computer work I am able to accomplish considering I am an Ice Technician and not training in all this nonsense. Also would love feedback on the new Newsletter (sorry yesterday was a broken morning so the old one went out) However we are working hard on providing a better newseltter for all to experience! It took about 4 months to build - lots of bs along the way - but happy with how it has turned out. Let us know what you think! Hope the coffee is hot and everyone is enjoying their days!

  2. Good Thursday morning to you MGS Troops! Look what I woke up to. Mother Nature said “No golf for you”! That’s ok, have to head to Denver this morning anyway, but check out the forecast: So awesome!!! Yes, yes it was sarcasm. Sunday is supposed to be better, but I play on Friday at Marianna Butte which is in the foothills of Loveland CO. Friday’s forecast??? Rain and snow. Maybe the VGA will cancel. I’m doubtful. Here’s a throwback Thursday pic for ya on my way out the door. Zoey crushing another girl from Dallas! It was awesome! Happy Snowy Thursday from Wyoming!

  3. Good morning everyone. And oh what a testing opportunity this is going to be. A friend and I used to go garage sale shopping for persimmon drivers and refinish them and sell them. We would also tinker and build out different clubs at different swing weights just to see how/if they would perform differently. Still have one of the drivers I built with the old school leather grip. Haven’t swung it in years, no decades, though and not sure how it would hold up after all this time. Happy birthday @GolfSpy SAM and I hope everyone has a great day ahead. Bummed to miss the community call today as I’m sure the talk about Toura will dominate the chatter.

Good morning Spies on this Community Call Thursday from the Motor City. Cool and cloudy now, but supposed to warm-up later as the day progresses. Want everyone here to know to wish @GolfSpy SAM a Happy Birthday today. Rumor has it he is turning 39 for the unknown time again today. Hoping to see many on the call later and hoping that your day is the best it can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

  5. Morning all. Overnight freezing temps, but a sunny 46°F (8°C) outside. Starting up a personal project in the shop, and frankly, I’m a little nervous and excited about it. It’s been a while since I made a piece of furniture. This’ll either go fantastically well, spiraling downwardly to a horrific crash, or somewhere in between. But like golf, just gotta believe in my strokes and find my groove. Speaking of which, yesterday’s golf was a bit of a mixed bag. Hoping to get out sometime tomorrow. Have a good one, all.

  7. Good morning, Spies! It's still dark, but the birds are chirping to wake the sun while FABWIFE and the dogs continue to snooze. Java is in my near future. I think I am having withdrawal symptoms with no outdoor golf since Sunday and travel preventing golf this weekend. Thank goodness for this forum; my twitching has slowed since logging on. I wish you all peaceful, productive, wonderful days.

  8. Good morning everyone! It's community call day and I'm looking forward to being able to talk with y'all this evening. I'm just chilling in the car waiting to go in to work while drinking my coffee and check the happenings of the forum. I'm also curious as to what test the forum leaders have that is so unique. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

  11. Good morning MGSpies on Community Call Thursday from the wet springtime April showers of WNY eagerly awaiting the announcement of whateveritis Jamie @GolfSpy_APH has whetted the appetite for, as if Matt's @GolfSpy SAM birthday isn't reason enough to be thrilled, wait that is a trifecta Looking forward to seeing many of you friends on the call later on and possibly from the "fairways" as it is still a transformation process from park to golf course where I usually play, hope golf is a part of your day! 41

  12. Good morning spies! Got called into work on my day off, but not totally mad as it looks like the rain would dampen my round today anyways. Played great in the cold yesterday, and thoroughly enjoying the Bridgestone Mindset balls! Think they are going to replace my Maxfli’s honestly. Having some coffee and making an egg sandwich for the road. Have a fantastic day everyone!

  14. Good Thursday morning spies. Walked out of work yesterday to the cool temps and high winds that had been present all day so I skipped the golf course. Stepped outside to grab the mail about 30 minutes after arriving at home and the sky was blue with a light breeze. Just a touch of that unpredictable Midwest weather. Temps are back into the 40s today with rain on and off all day. Soccer games tonight and tomorrow so maybe golf on Saturday when temps will still be in the 40s. Have a wonderful day spies!

  15. Golf league was fun to kick off on tuesday. Didnt play great, but also didnt play terribly. Had a few blowup holes but did manage to birdie the second hardest hole on the course so .... yay? Pity I had a triple and quad bogey... (yeah it was that kind of up and down day). Now... I will say the 35-45mph gusting breezes didnt help. Eyes were getting sandblasted with pollen and I was just done by the end of it. Irons.... are in a good spot I think. My driver ehhhhhhh my overdraw was a pain in the ass all day. Throw in a lot of wind and well.... Id have been better off with an iron off the box probably. Now I just gotta figure out how to straighten the driver out. Seriously... how the s*** do I over draw a ball with a club face set 3* OPEN..... may have to hit the range this weekend to see if I cant sort out a setup or swing thought to fix it. Ah well, a 47 for the first official round of the year isnt the worst.

  16. Good morning spies! A rainy, cool morning here in eastern Iowa. It's supposed to rain for the majority of the day, so it's a good day to be inside. Just two days until a 4 day weekend filled with lots of golf. Hopefully, I can power through today and tomorrow and it goes smoothly. I hope you all have a thrilling Thursday!

  19. Good morning all! Was another beautiful weather day yesterday but might finally be a cloudy day today but hopefully no rain. Kids got to do some work at the local bog fixing bridges and other trail work in there. Tonight there is a beaver walk where they are hoping to see the beavers out there at dusk which sounds very cool. Otherwise another work day trying to fix data issues. Happy birthday @GolfSpy SAM Have a great day everyone!

  20. We do have a very unique testing opportunity being released today, but there is a slight hiccup in our system that we are not able to publish it at the moment. As soon as it is back up and running we will have it published and announced!

  21. Good morning all! As I mentioned a couple of days ago, last Tuesday was my first round of the season. I’m pleased with the round and my swing overall. But I forgot how challenging trouble shots (approach shots but tree branches in the regular flight path sort of thing, fairway traps, etc) can be.

  22. Well just as those weather people .. (can't say weather 'man' anymore not just PC but some of the meteorologists on TV .. at least around here on the channel my wife watches in the morning .. are female and kinda hot and one is like a fitness model and the other won some state beauty pageant in the past) .. so just as they said it's wet and grey and dreary here today... Good day for some indoor exercise and indoor practice - maybe fire up the ExPutt and work on some longer putts, and maybe whack a few into the garage net working on pressure shift and hands/wrists coming into and at impact. Looking forward to the intriguing testing opportunity announcement and to the community call later! Followed by, of course, happy hour and maybe date night with my honey Hope y'all make it a great day .. with whatever it has in store for you!!!

  25. This is a unique one that I am extremely excited for as it is a company many of us on the forum know, but may not know well. Their products are truly special and while this test may be a little extra work for the testers, but it will also a lot of fun for the membership to follow as they will also be tied in as part of it. Should be a lot of fun!

  26. Good morning all and happy Thursday. Happy Birthday S/O to @GolfSpy SAM, hope you have a great day! Took the evening off from any swing work last night as I was feeling a bit stiff and sore from earlier in the week and getting a lot of swings in Monday and Tuesday. Will get back at it today. Workday started at 5:45am and will be going until 5pm, so a bit of a longer one ahead of me, but it'll be broken up in the middle with our oldest son's Spring program at 1:30. I always enjoy those as it is quite entertaining to see the kids at school put on musical performances lol. There's a second show at 6:30 this evening as well that we will attend in addition to both sets of grandparents. No work tomorrow and I am headed to Vortex HQ bright and early for a tour of their facilities and a first hand look at their new line of rangefinders! Always a perk to have some buddies with close ties to them in the hunting industry to make connections.

  27. Good morning Spies, Happy almost Friday. Woke to rain. Hoping for a weather break that will let me get 9 holes in but it isn’t looking very promising. My amazing wife will be at the the SPCA today. They having some of the dogs do “painting”. The artwork will then be sold to raise money. According to the USPS the Rhoback polo I ordered is out fir delivery. Happiest of birthdays to @GolfSpy SAM Your profile picture definitely shows that you are aging gracefully. Wishing all a wonderful day.

  28. Happy Thursday all! Had a big tree come down a few houses away last evening. No injuries, took out some fences. A neighbors garage roof will need repair. Lost power. Utility crews were more than prompt, waited out some thunderstorms and got us back. Turns out I'm a big fan of electricity and the comforts of modern life.

  32. There's a newsletter? News to me (ducking the barrage of tomatoes). Seriously did not know about this at all. Good morning, Spies! Awakening this morning in Fayetteville, NC, home of the world's largest military base in terms of number of active duty troops stationed there. But I won't be here long. Two patients, then head for Greensboro this afternoon, just in time for the rain to arrive... Then tomorrow afternoon planning a round with @Tom the Golf Nut on the way home from Greensboro. Great phone call yesterday with Mike Carroll of Fit For Golf for the FFG test, at least for the four testers who have Android phones; the Apple version is still a couple of weeks away. I'm ready to get started. Kinda sorta started Tuesday night, actually, and I'm still feeling it. I'm going to have to pace myself; don't need injuries screwing up the test. HBD @GolfSpy SAM!

  35. Happy Birthday @GolfSpy SAM! A happy, foggy Thursday morning fellow spies! Reading through the thread and enjoying a nice hot cup of Apple Cinnamon tea with a dollop of honey and watching the birds snooping around for worms. Well, yesterday was day one of league play for me, definitely not my best 9 hole round: shot a straight up 50. I am very happy to say driving was NOT my issue: only had one off the fairway! But, it was REALLY off the fairway. I seem to have had case of the pushes on my iron shots for some reason. Last week? Irons all straight. Not last night! Love this game of golf... work on one thing and, well, you know. The good thing is, it's all a work in progress and the learning and improvement is palpable: I love this stuff! Just have to get ALL of it working at the same time! I use Golf Pad as a tracking/scoring app, this is an example of some of the data that can be obtained: Having had a lot of trouble getting drives to go straight recently, last night was a driving pleasure for once! I hope everyone has a wonderful day, hit 'em straight and I hope golf is part of your day! Hopefully the fog burns off by lunch so I can get to the home range and do some more work!

  36. Good Thursday Morning Spy friends! Figured I would start my day with a morning post. Finally got my gluten-free bagels from Trader Joe's and I am enjoying it this morning with some everything seasoning, and a hot cup of coffee. MMMmmm I still haven't played a single round yet this year despite great weather of late ( & ) But my wife still says I am obsessed with golf. LOL! Maybe having a 9-iron next to the desk, regularly swinging a club in the living room or in the backyard, and constantly watching or talking about golf has something to do with it? @GolfSpy_APH Great testing opp indeed! I am not a club builder myself, but kudos to you and the team for bringing this unique experiences to the forum. @GolfSpy SAM Happy Birthday sir! I hope a new bag of Maltby irons are in your future! Have a great day ya'll

  38. Good morning, Spies, and happy Pre-Friday!! Although it was a bit damp yesterday, I was able to get to our local demo day and hit some clubs. I'll be doing a bit of a write-up/review of my experience and what I learned at the demo day, but it was a very educational experience and I'm glad I made the effort to go. The new cabinet pulls/handles came in for the house, so that's the next to do while we wait for the base cabinet to arrive. We think it'll be in this weekend, which would be great to get it installed this weekend as well. There will be some drilling for the handles, but not a ton luckily. I'll post pictures when the pulls are on for the before/after. We'll still need counters and the bench, but you'll get the proper idea of the before/after. More rain the next few days. Saturday after my lesson may be a good time for some range balls. It's pretty much rain starting tonight and tomorrow morning, then clear Saturday. Rain Sunday and temps drop for a couple days into the 50's. So no golf expected this weekend/week. Possibly next weekend, although I haven't checked the weather yet. Well, everyone have a fantastic day, with or without golf!!

  41. Good morning spies! Finally got a bit of a breather to try and catch up. It’s like if I miss a day or so, reading Moby Dick all over again just to catch up (death by a 1000 posts). Happy Birthday @GolfSpy SAM! Hope you get whatever shiny new golf thingy you are wanting Weather is good here today but no golf. Still VERY wet. Monday was the first day of a new golf league for me on a course I had not played in many years. Didn’t remember any of it. Course is not in great shape. Bunkers full of water, really soft ground and ruts. Lost a ball in the fairway. It plugged so deep, couldn’t find it in the standing water. In any case, the AI One Milled putter that I tested last year did its job well. I averaged 1.8 putts per hole. Dropped one in the jar from 22 feet on a par 3 for birdie. I would never have thought that putter would be so much better than my old standby. Who knew?! @GolfSpy_APH I like the newsletter format and content. It amazes me how much better MGS has improved over just this past year. Not that it was bad, it’s just continually getting better IMHO. I (we) all appreciate the effort and time it takes for the staff to do this for us. Thank you. I have to get back to work now (ugh) - Have a wonderful day all! Cheers!

  42. Good morning Spies! Chillier day in Chicago. Temps are unfortunately dropping right before the weekend when I'm scheduled to play my first actual round of the season (according to the USGA). Hopefully will at least stay above 50 and we can still have some fun. Very unique testing opportunity for the Toura irons. Shoutout to @GolfSpy_APH and the rest of the MGS team for putting this together. Very interested to see what others think. Happy birthday @GolfSpy SAM! Hope it's a great one Excited to hop on the community call this afternoon and catch up with everyone. Will be balancing work and watching both the RBC Heritage and the Chevron Championship in the meantime. Have a great day!

  43. Good morning all! Headed to the doctor for a checkup today then back home to work around the house for a while. It’s a bit windy today but it looks like it’ll ease up later in the day so I’ll try to get out on the course in the late afternoon. An update on my goal for the year of 150 rounds of golf: I currently sit at 60 rounds played through 106 days of the year. This puts me on pace for 206 rounds played in 2024! We will see if that keeps up but I’m happy to be on pace thus far!

  44. Good Thursday morning Spies! Another overcast muggy day in store with chance of severe weather late in the day. No golf on the agenda today but looking forward to much needed driver lesson tomorrow afternoon. I know its golf, but I still don't understand how a strength can become a major weakness so fast...? Happy Birthday @GolfSpy SAM, hope there is some golf in your plans for the day. Another awesome opportunity with the Toura iron build @GolfSpy_APH! Looking forward to the Community call this afternoon as well after this announcement. Everyone have a great day and enjoy whatever activity is on your agenda.

  47. A brief update from last night’s range session with the QI-10. I had an hour to kill after dropping my daughter off at soccer practice, so I took a wedge, 8i, mini driver and the 2 drivers and hit a bucket at the range down the road from the fields. Because I’ve been having face to path issues lately, especially with the driver, when I got to the driver I used an exaggerated strong grip with the intention of hitting duck hooks, along with keeping the club face pointed toward the ground in the takeaway. My first couple balls did exactly what I wanted them to, so I continued by hitting a ball and slightly adjusting my grip back toward neutral until I wasn’t hooking the ball. All in all, I was encouraged by the shape and while the distance still isn’t back to where it should be, I have decided to give the QI-10 every chance to make the bag. The work continues…

  48. Good morning spies! I am going to buck the crowd and tell all that today will be hot and sunny! Temps will crest 90 this afternoon so I expect the guys to get my solar panels up quickly (so I can have my driveway back!). Plus we don't expect rain until the monsoons start in July! Ooooo I like the club building opportunity! It is so much fun to play the clubs you have built, and if you play well it is hard not to strut around! Kind of like catching a nice trout on a fly rod you have built. Nobody cares, but what a personal accomplishment! It is probably a tiny thing that you have gotten into the habit of doing. Pain (not saying you had any) can write a swing change habit in less than a round that can be minuscule, impossible to feel or notice without help, and very detrimental to good play. Stay very positive, ignore bad shots, celebrate good shots, and that tiny swing change will be fixed in very short order. You are a good experienced golfer and this is much more of a brain thing than a body thing.
