I have an appointment later this week with an instructor to put together a 3 month program that matches my goals, limitations, and preferences. Something tells me sitting in the locker room eating chips and watching TV won't be part of the program.

  9. So somehow those two blondes .. longtime friends .. find themselves walking together on the same side of the street. One of them stops to pick up a lady's makeup compact lying on the sidewalk, opens it, looks in the mirror and exclaims: "Huh! That girl looks familiar!" The other blonde takes the compact and looks in the mirror, then she exclaims: "You dummy .. that's me!"

  13. I may not be as old as you but I'm sure my body feels like it's 85. Having a bad back & bad hip (trying to get the hip replaced this winter), really takes its toll on my workout routines. But .... that's what drugs are for afterwards. So my pains are in the same spots they always are, nothing new there. The back-ass-wards swinging on the wrong side of the ball ... YIKES! That is a sight that no one should see. Mrs Nut watched me & said "you're going to break something swinging that way, WTH are you doing?" I did see my swing speed jump to 103 mph though. I was pleasantly surprised by that. Looking to do another session this evening when I get home from work, right before the hockey game!

  16. An update: I was tooling around Amazon last night, and found that the seller I listed above (MegaGrass) also sells some of their product there. What stunned me is that I found this page: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BX5KLHN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is their highest end putting surface (as listed on their site). Direct from them, it's $2.49 per square foot. My green is 6x11, which would run about $165, plus another $50 shipping. On Amazon, you can buy an 8x10 of that surface with free shipping for $115. (I can trim the extra off the side and fill in the ends without any problem.) That's a massive savings, unless there's some catch yet to be discovered. So I pulled the trigger, and I'll keep everyone posted with a thorough review.

  17. My soreness is exactly where I would expect it all on my left side. I will say that it’s hard to tell if it’s not as much from playing in super thick rough on Sunday - I had one shot out of that rough which really hurt. Interesting to hear that some of us are close dominant to non-dominant sides - I’m 10 to 12 mph different. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

That's actually Ruby, who we lost at just 2 years old from brain cancer. She suddenly went blind in one eye in late November 2015 and we lost her in Jan 2016... absolutely crushed my wife and I. With a retirement soon following and relocation to Montana, we opted to be dog-less for the first time in our married life. This past spring, after returning from Yuma, we are now being ruled by River. He is 7-1/2 months old and had limited days on the water fishing - that will change next year. I mostly fish 4 and 5 weight, 9 ft rods here in MT. PS: Shout out, thanks to the OP for creating this thread. Pets are so amazing and it's really fun seeing everyone's extended family.

  21. That's basically what I thought golf was before I started playing. Not a real "sport", no sweat, no work. I was used to competitive football (soccer) with miles run daily, gym daily, training sessions etc. Golf was for old people who couldn't manage a real sport... Since playing I've come to appreciate the subtlety. I've played with old gentlemen who do like to play a sedate game but have such a finely tuned game they are impressive, while I've found I can move things like this type of exercise from my other sports and you really can see it as a sport you train for...

  22. I did want to let everyone know that yesterday's soreness is gone. I'm still intrigued by the differences that we are experiencing in regards to initial results. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with our swing types. While I'm not at 20 percent faster with the lightest, green club, I'm significantly faster with it and there is a nice progression down until the Red, heavy, club is a couple of miles per hour faster than my driver SS.

Oh... yeah... I guess I thought all PFT's were the same. haha. Marines is/was 3 mile run in 18:00 = 100, 20 pull ups = 100, 60 situps in 2 min = 100.... I might have the situps one wrong but I always thought that was the easiest. There weren't too many 300's and if you got one it was quite the accomplishment!

  29. Well, being the oldest tester of the group, I always have pains. I had been doing some of the exercises prior to playing for quite awhile (touching toes, arm circles), but not a set of exercises that targets many parts of the body one after the other. However, I have a new pain that showed up after the first session in both hips. I've never had an issues with my hips. It didn't get any worse after the second session. I'm liking the exercise routine; just need to get better with my balance. I don't want to be a statistic... "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"

  31. I was a little late to the start party due to being out of town and playing in a golf tourney yesterday. Got my first session in tonight and it went pretty well. Although I realized halfway through the warmup that I should have made a list of all the stretches.. I feel like I missed one.. Due to my schedule, I did my session in the evening, but I don't feel like it slowed me down. I should be able to get a morning session in once per week, so I will keep note if the time of day makes a big difference for me. My non-dominant swing speed is fairly decent as well, I guess all those days messing around left handed have helped! I was as close as a 1 mph difference in a couple of the sets (although my max for each side put my dominant swing ahead by 4 mph). My golf friends have sometimes joked that I should switch to playing left handed because of my horrible over-the-top move I have on my dominant side (which doesn't show up when I swing the wrong way). Maybe I'll have to revisit that depending on how comfortable I get swinging on the left!

    How'd you play?

39-39-78 on a soggy, mess of a course. Greens were just punched. FIR 9/14 Good enough for me. GIR 10/18. Irons were really bad today. I couldn't start a shot online at all. Putts 17-16-33 greens were a mess. The were wet and sandy. It was a really tough putting day. I chipped really well. That was the bright spot of an otherwise meh day. I hit so many good chips.

  33. Ok guys, week one session two is in the books. With the exception of the first three swings with the lightest club, I saw a slight improvement on how fast I was swinging. I think the whole I just got home from work thing slowed me down. It was just slightly less awkward swinging on my non dominant side, I just really don't want to see video of it. I'll be doing my next set Friday after work. I was hoping we wouldn't have to work, as I work four days at ten hours. Yay! Overtime. I really wish there was a sarcasm font. Then I'll get some range time on Saturday and hopefully play Sunday. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

Shot a 38/44 today which is a great score for me. Front 9 felt great. Swing left me for a 5 hole stretch on the back, but still got out of there with a score i'm happy with!

    Pics from the course

It was super wet today had ponds on the course where there never are ponds. Had a par 5 turned into a par 3 because there is ground water and standing water on most of it. And I stopped and even backed up a 4 iron from 195 out.

  40. So not a club.. But for golf nonetheless.. When doing the Bridgestone wedge review I made some golf swing videos. Took my own videos with my phone and was a huge PITA. The videos however have really helped me improve my swing mechanics and tempo.. And fix some swing quirks too. Additionally I want to post some more approach videos in the Bridgestone review and in the event that I'm ever chosen again down the road, I'm set. I can control the camera remotely from about 100 ft away. Takes really clean vids and photos. Sent from my VS985 4G using MyGolfSpy mobile app

Yeah....there was a 2nd LT in our platoon who was a college runner and I tried to keep up with him for as long as possible. When I finished I thought I was going to die ... literally thought my heart was going to explode and fly out of my chest.... I think I ended up with a 17:50 for 3 miles or something like that.

It's been a while but I think our was 12:00 or under to max the 2 miler, and something like 75 pushups and situps. There was a scale based on age but it was a loooong time ago. I remember beating 12:00 once and couldn't believe it was possible to run faster than that.

Nice! Is it still sit-ups/pull-ups/3 mile run? Best I could get was a 280.... could never get 20 pullups...maxed out at 18. Sit-ups and run were much easier.
