I have been posting and reading quite a bit on here this morning. I am getting used to the new format so to speak. Figured out how to give likes etc. I figure if I can get used to the new format anyone can do it. I will admit some of us older guys are set in our ways and are resistant to change but I have come around to it somewhat. The only gripe I have and it seems like I am not alone is the Facebook thing popping up on the right but I can live with it. But remember even with the new format one thing on MGS has not changed The Staff and The Members and those two things is what makes this site great

My first week is finished! It has been enjoyable to do the sessions. Gotta say something about the dynamic warm-up, it's awesome! I came home from work today feeling like swinging a club would be miserable. Ever have one of those days where you were so sore it felt like even your hair was hurting? Yeah...that's kind of how I felt. Going to buy new clubs yesterday took a lot of swinging and I was feeling it today. I'm hitting the course tomorrow and then I'll crunch some numbers to give to y'all. I plan on taking the radar to get some on course numbers, along with some Arccos stats. Can't wait to put the new Cobras in play. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

This just popped in my head this morning... The cure is simple!!! Reverse psychology!! A 1 wood or driver should just be called a 0 wood. 3 wood a 2 wood And a 18 degree 3 iron is a 2 iron!! 36 degree “8” iron is a 7 iron. That way no one will be amazed when they hit their “7” (5 iron) 200 yards. Faldo - “Unbelievable! He just hit his zero wood 350 yards!” Pay up!!!

I'm not sure how you set up your filter, so this is how I have mine (just follow the same steps to your liking): 1. First thing I do is check Unread Content 2. If you have a specific preference, there a few default options you can filter with 3. Alternatively, you can create your own filter. I personally leave everything default, and only change the Read Status option, so I don't have to go through every page and can just jump right back to where I left off. 4. Once you have configured the stream to your liking, save it as a new stream 5. Then make it your default stream 6. Once it's default, you'll have easy access every time you come to the forum

Not buying a car but car related. Finally decided that I don’t really need a warranty on my toy...so it gets dropped off tomorrow for a rework on the blower, new injectors, long tube headers, full exhaust and a new tune. Nothing less than 925 rwhp will be acceptable. Should run just over 10 seconds at the track. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

... I am probably in the minority on this subject but wedges are instruments that pound the ground taking deep divots, splash thru deep rough and in general take a pretty good beating. I am not a fashion guy and have never worn a watch or any kind of jewelry so accessorizing my wedge is something I have zero interest in doing. And paying extra for that service just seems like a waste of money, especially since we replace our wedges more than any other club in our bag if we play a lot. ... That said, I get there are those that want bling and are willing to pay for it and of course nothing wrong with that. But I think this will always be a niche product and never something that can be mass produced by an OEM.

I've got one that's special to me: Teeing up the first ball on hole 1 Think about all the steps and *work* it takes to get a round together. Setting up a time to play, coordinating with your partners, clearing your schedule, getting a blessing from SWMBO all need to take place before this is even a thought. In between approval and the round you may even hit the range, catch a lesson, mentally plan your round, and check the weather. Fast forward to gameday you pick out your outfit, make a few club choices, select the balls you'll be playing, load up the bag, plan your meals and drinks, then drive to the course (sometimes a longer drive than others). Once you've arrived at the course, you check in, load up, warm up and practice. Then, FINALLY, make your way to the first tee. The first tee represents potential. You could have the round of your life today. You could see something you've never seen, experience something you've never felt, or make a new connection. The first tee is a blank slate which opens opportunity to your adventure for the next 4 hours of your life. You will be at peace in nature without distraction from the outside world. You can write your day however you want. Nerves are coursing through your veins as you step up to put the first mark on your story. Playing partners and passerbys watching. Maybe there's money on the line, maybe there's glory, maybe there's pride. This shot is the first step in your journey. You've worked hard to get to this point and it's now time to deliver. A purely struck shot is certainly the best physical feeling but teeing that first ball is undeniably the best spiritual feeling in golf. In today's society of rush rush rush, it's easy for people to take this moment for granted. Next time you stand on the first tee, take a moment to think about all the effort that has led you to where you stand.

Untill sales and profits go down, prices will go up. It is a supply and demand problem. The demand is still there so price will keep rising. Especially with a brand like Titleist, who has an elite vibe, they can keep raising prices. People with money can/will pay for status symbols. Why do you think PXG is still in business. I always buy used and haven't paid over $150 for a driver. I don't care about status symbols therefore the newest and greatest doesn't appeal to me.

Before you hit your alarm button in the morning, you check your phone to see if there is anything new on MGS. During commercial breaks of your TV shows you check the MGS forums for any updates. During a golf tournament you aren't checking the leaderboard on PGAtour.com, but you are checking the latest MGS thread to see if anyone is talking about the last interesting shot or controversy by someone from the tournament. After getting thoroughly embarrassed by the Euros in Ryder Cup, you don't talk to your actual real life friends about it, but instead you rant incessantly on MGS to vent your every frustration, over the course of a week afterwards.

The sweetest feeling I have experienced in golf was not breaking the sub-80 round the first time. It was doing it the second time that was the best feeling. Knowing that the first time wasn't a fluke gave me the confidence to do it 3 times since. On a side note, I have had many hole outs over the years but never had a hole in one. I assume that if/when that happens that will be my new number one.

after what I call the "start up costs" (i.e. acquiring the gear needed to play) the most expensive part of golf is (a) getting the time and (b) greens fees.... ...there's a lot to be said for the guy that shows up with a set of ping eye 2's, an old 2 ball putter, a TM 580, a great big bertha and a topflite XL 2000 with a maxfli bag. RESPECT.

I'll be going out today getting some time in on the course and I can't wait. It's probably going to take a bit of getting used to since my old irons are older than some of the guys that I work with. Today's just going to be for fun, but I'll at least get a baseline of what these bad boys will do. My local driving range doesn't have yardages right, they constantly move the tee boxes up and back. Arccos will definitely help me learn my distances. A quick shout out to them, by the way. Once I got them set up I noticed that the course I play most wasn't in their system. Shot them an email on Thursday and they got back to me the next day saying to get them the course info and they would take care of it. That's phenomenal customer service. my best feeling is the iron shot that is struck so purely off the sweet spot then flies beautifully to the green, you hardly even feel the shot off the face it's so well struck, sounds beautiful too. A rare occurrence these days

I am in the "poor man's" group. I pay $30/month unlimited walking at a pretty decent course, I have two young kids and play once a week. If I take a lesson this year it will probably be online. You learn to get creative on how to make things work for you. New equipment is probably out for me but will buy and sell when I really want something. It's almost always used. Been playing for about 8 years and still buy lakeballs. Great savings! Don't think new premium balls can help me lower my scores Got my Clicgear about 5 years ago and still holding up pretty well. And I play between 50-80 rounds per year, all walking. I get my shoes from budget golf when they are on sale... last year got 2 pairs of Adizero for $30 each!!! So yeah, I'll agree with previous posters: golf can be expensive, but doesn't have to be.

Played poorly, 8 over after 6, 5 over the last 12. Strange round, most of my dropped shots were driver or short game related, my normal strengths. Irons were mostly solid. Really not disappointed, it was a beautiful day, mid 70s, only a 1 1/2 club breeze. Wore shorts for the first time since April and enjoyed a few beers during the round with good mates. All up a very enjoyable day despite the poor golf.

Honestly because of the fitting it is much easier but I hit the 4-7 iron were amazing but the 8-GW were giving me trouble but I think it will get better I mean every shot was right at the pin but short sometimes but silver lining is I chipped in for birdie with the one length gap wedge!!! I've decided not to renew my membership at the club. It's about to get really cheap for me, I guess. I played on an austere budget for years. It was fine when I was a kid, but as I got older, I understood that the grass was much greener where I wasn't. I have to admit that being retired and playing at the club was much better, but it was for a relatively short time and didn't last nearly as long. Not short enough to complain, I suppose. I retired at 55 when i still had my game.. Bottom line, I think it's really hard to play golf on a tight budget, but it's both possible and very much worth doing. Going back to it would probably be tough, but I'm sure that I'd do it if that were how I could still play. Ballooning from an eight to a thirteen in just a couple of years was also tough. I've got to figure that things worked out as they had to work out eventually. .

I play golf twice a week, take lessons a few times a year and play in a few tournaments with no problem. I don't play the most expensive courses in the area and I look for deals. For example: the Cincinnati city courses offer a Birdie Pass for $20/year but you get on average $8-$12 off the regular price for every round you play (they even throw in extra $5 off coupons you can use as well). Are they Pebble Beach? No but they're well maintained and provide a fun challenge. I bought my Titleist 915 driver as a demo so I got that for about $200 less than new at that time. Bought an older set of Titleist AP2's at a used sporting goods store for under $200 and got my Vokey wedges and Cameron putter on eBay for right around $500 total (my Cameron was my most expensive purchase). If I bought all those brand new, I'd be in for over $2,000 but I stayed under $1,000 for all of those. So, golf is only as expensive as you make it. Expensive golf doesn't make it any better for me. Well I am honestly in unbelievable shock right now. Cobra really surprised me with the clubs!!!! I really wanted to try one length and that is what I did with the Cobra fitter. It was the best fitting I have ever had and I have had quite a few fittings. The fitter and I discussed my weak points including my limited practice time, my hectic Navy schedule, and my curiosity with One Length clubs. I literally hit every shaft that was available and wouldn't you know it...the Cobra Forged Tech One Length were absolutely perfect for me. In general I am looking for consistency, proper gapping between clubs, simplifying my golf swings, improving my accuracy, and hitting my approach shots closer to the hole. I have no doubt that these clubs will do it. The technology in these clubs is unreal!!!! I didn't think that Cobra was sending these...honestly the F8 one length just didn't work even though I wanted them to...so I was truly expecting variable length F8s but some companies go the extra mile for even the average golfer...and the company at the top of that list is Cobra Golf!!!!!! It took me three hours to finally take the plastic off...these things are sexy...the clubs are built perfectly to my specifications and even the shaft logos are lined up perfectly...attention to detail is important and Cobra delivers. Don't be surprised if my entire bag is Cobra before the end of the year. Top quality professionally fitted equipment belongs in every golfers bag and if you want the best then take a hard look at Cobra Golf!!!! I am freaking pumped up!!!!
