Like I said before, the restructure is going to be a slow roll. We've got ideas we're kicking around for "The Equipment" that will go live when they're ready. Conceptually, the equipment section is used for general chatter on/about the clubs whereas the unofficial reviews section will be for personal opinions once they've been taken out onto the course. It's a very fine line but I do believe there's a place for both. It's basically the difference between subjective and concrete opinions at the core. Regarding official threads on each club release, I'm hesitant to make that many official MGS threads. Official threads take a little bit of the fun away from members trying to discover and share the hot scoops. It's like how journalists fight for "you heard it here first." I'm hoping the new structure will cut down on duplicate threads but it'll certainly never be perfect. Merging is only partially working right now so that'll help out as well once we get that magic wand back. The difficult thing about putting all reviews and discussion into just one thread for each club is it's now easy to lose track of the discussion (like keeping up with 'random thread'). An outside person looking for reviews on the "X Driver" should be able to pop straight to the reviews section rather than sift through hundreds of posts looking for the one guy that bought, played with, and reviewed on post #256 then another that did it at #512. I'm all for consolidating reviews but not necessarily all discussion.

Great to see some of you breaking through that plateau phase! It is important for the readers to hear that the plateau comes for most everyone but you will come out of it. @Jon Brittan We are looking for the SuperSpeed protocols to be done while the person is the most fresh physically and neurologically. If someone is pre fatigued from a gym program or playing a round of golf they typically will be slower training after. That being said it is not a black and white rule. We appreciate you bringing up this point. We want people to train when they feel the best and are getting the most out of the sessions. If later in the day is working better definitely stick with that but don't be afraid to experiment. @mpatrickriley We all have an athletic ceiling where our potential for speed will be at a maximum. We don't really know for sure exactly but we would guess most people are operating around 50-60% of their potential. This athletic ceiling is developed by what types of explosive activities you did as a kid and your unique genetic makeup. If you didn't do fast or powerful movements as a child it doesn't mean you won't be able to gain more speed, it just means you most likely will never be a Cameron Champ. Through the SuperSpeed training we can begin to tap into more of that potential by activating what are called Motor Units. At some point you will max out and won't be able to gain more speed. It takes some work to get to that max out phase though. The first 2 SuperSpeed training protocols will yield the biggest gains. From there the gains will be slower and smaller but still happen. The plateau phase can also be longer.

Tape on bottom of high end putters for outside roll is understandable. Asst & Head Pro attitude stupid. At my age I don’t take fools very well and my answers, if he pushed the issue would not have been cordial. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

My wife and I had a 10am tee time today. It was 28º and cloudy, but the sun was supposed to come out by noon. They lied. We took our cart cover that we bought 2 years ago that fits the Yamaha rentals, but we have no heater. The guy in the pro shop said that two groups were about 30 minutes ahead of us and no one has a tee time behind us. It started snowing. Only a few flakes so we headed to the first tee. I was cold. We decided to play the first two holes, then decide if we would continue since the 2nd green was by the parking lot. It stopped snowing, so we continued on. I took this picture from in front of the #3 green looking across the pond back down the fairway. The pond was frozen... so were the greens. I made a mistake and landed my ball on the front of the 40 yard deep #5 green; went off the back. We finished the front nine and called it quits. I hit the ball pretty well, but there was no way to score today. Riding in a cart, even with a cover, is colder than I remember in years past. We have a 10am tee time for tomorrow, but I think I'll walk; much easier to stay warm.

OK this change is finally live. The subforum for product reviews are hereby split into: Official Forum Member Reviews Unofficial Forum Member Product Reviews Testing Applications I also went ahead and moved official forum tests dating back to 2016 over to the official sub-forum which really opened up the unofficial space. There's some good stuff in there so you should check out some of the volunteer work the great forum members have done. Basic ROE will be that the official tests of THIS calendar year will be stickied and the rest will float around. Once the 2019 season gets going, I'll unstick all the 2018 posts. There have been some requests to split these forums down by year and even by club type. Going to keep it simple for now and see how it goes. Don't want to create too much navigation for members looking for material. An easy way YOU can help with the organization is by using the tag feature when creating an unofficial post. One of the main functions of tags is to help to sort material. This idea will stay on the list but just wanted to let you all know that it wasn't ignored. I know it's not Thursday, but it's definitely worth going back and looking at past official forum tests. Now that they're all in once place, it's a great opportunity to browse some of the quality work our members have turned in over the recent years.

Just recently--- I built them a couple of years ago for my buddy Bear. He never liked them and I ended up with them on the pretense of pulling the shafts and putting them in my 2013 Callys. I have never hit a graphite shafted iron. Took them out on the range one day to see how the shafts may react. WOW those things are sweet!! Played them last weekend and was -1 when rain hit on the 13th hole. They are the same lofts as my Mac blades and are 1 1/2 clubs stronger. But the main thing is that they do not hurt my back. I have been having back issues the last 2 or 3 months. I will play them for now but will never give up my Mac or Hogan blades

Just got back from my first round in 6 weeks. Went 48-42 for 90. Would've been ok, but it was a tight little exec. with par 62. (Actually, it put me right on my handicap.) 5 penalties. They had been closed for 6 months to refurbish their greens and tee boxes. I couldn't get any sense of speed at all on the greens. 43 putts. I did manage a 5 hole run of pars, with one that should have been a birdie. Just lipped the birdie putt out. It was just nice to get a chance to play again after such a long layoff. Content enough that I no longer allow it to dictate the fun meter. That was the key point in my OP. But yeah, you're right, the desire to get some more rounds in the 70's is there.

Haaa.... you're like the rest of us. You just can't shake it off can you? The golf gods granted you a round that you'd like to see again. You know it's in you somewhere don't you? If only.... Sure... you're content. But not really? Am I right?

So I've decided no lessons, just time working on my 8i bump and run chips and putting. I'm simply not snugging up chips close enough. The rounds I score really well are when that part of the game is working. I'm doing pretty well with lag putts but not as well with the chips. It's more a lack of consistency. What I have started doing is taking a closer look at chips as if they were putts - like how they will roll out and adjusting alignment accordingly. Need to get inside that "3 foot radius" more often than not.

Okay, you do your thing then. I just know several people from other forums that wanted to join the MGS forums but told me they found it too hard to navigate, specifically when they were looking for threads on specific equipment. I think you also have to take into consideration that most people find golf forums via search engines and right now MGS forum topics do not appear at the top of search results for equipment because the thread titles aren't controlled and discussions are fragmented. Official forum reviews show up near the top, but everything else is just lost in the wash.

A lawyer was standing in a long line to get tickets for a theatre play. Suddenly, he felt the hands of the man behind him, kneading into his back. He turned and gave the man a stern look, and the kneading stopped. But a few minutes later, he again felt the man’s hands on his back. "Excuse me," the lawyer asked, "But why are you touching my back?" "I’m a chiropractor," the man replied, "and I sometimes I can’t keep myself from practicing my skills." "Get control of yourself," the lawyer shot back. "I’m an attorney, and you don’t see me screwing the guy in front of me, do you?"

The only thing I can think of is that OCN made some changes recently to the courses, and the FSGA hasn't re-rated the courses yet. Here in WA when a course makes changes, they usually notify the WSGA that changes will be made and a rating committee will make a trip to the course rather quickly to assess the changes and re-rate if necessary. We had one course spend a lot of money putting in some new bunkers, but when the committee showed up, they said the bunkers didn't change the rating/slope because they weren't in positions to affect the scratch or bogey golfer... a waste of money if they were trying to make the course more difficult.

The Chrome soft is interesting because I just picked up my re-shafted 9 iron and my fitter was extolling its virtues. I commented that it's a very good ball but that I don't like how soft it feels. The soft balls of today do not feel like Balata did IMO, they feel contrived, kind of like when you get flavored potato chips. That's my take - clearly they have their niche and the answer an objection to the modern ball feeling too firm for some - they just aren't for me.

Played my first round with my new Mizuno MP18 MMCs and Hogan TK wedges. Hadn’t been able to play for 3 weeks due to work and an unfortunate bout of gastroenteritis. Really solid to start, 1 over after 8, greens were slow after a minor tining but rolled ok. Very happy with the new irons, other than a couple of very poor swings they’re very forgiving and I love the ball flight. Ended up playing to my 9 handicap with a couple of very soft doubles after leaving it in the bunker Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

A quick observation today... This morning at the club I tried the TS2 and the Cortex before playing. The TS2 was an 11.5* with Tensei Blue-S and the Cortex was an 10.5* with a Blue-R shaft of some kind. The Cortex was a non-starter due to the shaft. Everything was high and right. Everyone raves about the great sound of the Cortex but I didn't hear that through my ears. Now.... the TS2 was freaking awesome! I only hit about 6 shots that were each pretty much perfect in my book. The sound was great and the ball flight and trajectory seemed just what I prefer. And this was with Srixon yellow range balls. Loved the sound and feel. I had all my shots centered on the face in an area of about the size of a quarter. I took both drivers back to the pro shop and told one of the assistants, "I can play this club just like it is." Now the bad news... He said I had $125 on account and I can apply that to the club and also get the Christmas Sale discount. Hmmm? Fitting? What fitting. It fits! Honestly though, I think I'll get back out there next Saturday and take it on the course with a game ball, Then I'll see. Really see. Could this be the SLDR beater? Maybe.

I feel like you’re leaving out part of the story. I’d never let a golfer use a brand new premium putter without protecting the club. He doesn’t know you and your game and with the internet discounts available there are too many tire kickers who want to try and demo then buy elsewhere. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

... Nice. This is the good ole USA and I have no problem with someone selling a better mouse trap even if they didn't build it. So I have no problem buying a dozen Vice, CUT and Kirkland balls that clearly did zero R&D to test them out and see how they play. But when possible, I prefer to spend my money with someone like Dean Snell that has put in the work and designed balls for Titleist, TaylorMade and now Snell. The MTB Black is as good or better than any premium balls I have played other than TP5X/Kirkland Tour Performance that are just a hair longer for me with longer clubs.

This is the perfect place to say that my college buddies came to church last Saturday evening and brought me a care package that included toilet paper, a bottle opener, a cutter, a history fact book, a bottle of scotch, a regifted card and a box of Tp 5xs. I played with the Taylor Made ball this week and was suitably impressed. The only balls other than the Pro VIx that I’ve played a round with were a two piece as a part of the MGS challenge last Spring. I’ve played a hole or two with the Chrome soft x but honestly that ball is not my cup of tea, feels too soft and spins too little around the green for my taste. The TMag? I could game that one. I just went to PGA Superstore for a driver fitting. Didn’t have any specific driver in mind to replace my F8+(which I loved the looks of but didn’t get fit for) because the ball was just dropping out of the air. I hit some shots with my club and confirmed my spin was to low (1800rpm with a cut) for my 101 mph swing speed. So I told the fitter that I don’t like the look of a closed club face, because I hit a cut, and to bring me suggestions. After trying several head/shaft combos I was as surprised as anyone to have the Cortex come out on top. Best combo of distance and dispersion and got my spin numbers up (2000-2400). Not to mention it is gorgeous!! Ended up with 10.5 with the ATMOS Black shaft with the weight in the draw setting (to help keep the cut from over cutting) and spin weight in middle front. PGA superstore gave me a good trade in on my F8+ to help take away the sting of the hefty price tag. Ill update it after it has made the trip to Hilton Head for a golf trip at the end of January. It will be a good test since most HH courses are tight driving holes.

If you open up the face you'll blade the shot from hardpan. You'll need to get the lowest bounce wedge you can find from those conditions btw. If your wedge has a higher bounce, change it out. Basically you want a sharpe knife for those shots, and the lowest bounce wedge you can find will do. Sent from my coral using MyGolfSpy mobile app
