Time to roll over the odometer again. Been a fun darn near 2 years Gents. Lots of good conversations, debates, arguing, agreeing, disagreeing, complaining, jumping for joy... Thanks for putting up with me, damn fine group of people here. Looking forward to the next chapter! It’s been fun to watch this place grow, even in the somewhat short time I’ve been here. We are all in good hands, thanks to Adam and the crew at HQ, and the boys that keep us safe from spam, keep us in check as needed, and all of you for making this place what it is... an inviting, every member matters place to be. Cheers! Alan

Whoaaaaaaa bro! The Launchers are safely in the sack My buddy big Dawg wanted my thoughts and I'm gave em a few whacks in the arse. I will say I hit some pretty darn quality shots with em! The cool thing is Dawg's specs are a mirror of my own so the transition was smoother than butter on a hawt sweet potato.

For those of you that didn't watch Friday afternoon - they're squeezing the water off the greens! Also check out the replay of Tony Romo's chip off the viewing platform. Hope Mickelson can break out of the group to retake #1 on Saturday. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

I was planning on showing pics of my new driver shaft I ordered last week. Now I'm not sure if to post here or "got problems" thread. Purchased a new driver shaft from one of the more reputable shops. It arrived today looking like this. FYI the grip end of the shaft was well cushioned with bubble wrap unfortunately the other end wasn't. [emoji35] We'll see how the shop responds. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

We hope so. Unfortunately at this point it's just a numbers game. The costs associated with creating LH products just weren't justifiable as we were getting started. We've definitely heard from a lot of lefties that are interested and we want to have some LH offerings asap...it'll largely just depend on how this year goes. We'd love to have LH stuff in our lineup sooner rather than later though!

Have you considered doing an online lesson or two in order to get a trained set of eyes on your swing? I have been following Larry Cheung on Instagram and Youtube and I love his coaching style and thoughts on the swing. https://larrycheunggolf.com/ If I didn't have a local pro, I would definitely opt for online lessons with him.

Lesson #6 I had my 6th lesson yesterday and we started off by talking about my round on Tuesday. I explained what was working, what wasn't and where I was struggling the most. I warmed up and started taking some swings and we talked about my left misses were coming from my weight getting too much in my toes and thus causing me to come over the top. We worked on exaggerating the feeling that the weight was staying in my heels throughout the swing. The pressure mat showed that while I felt the weight was in my heels, it was right in the middle of my feet where it was supposed to be. This is just another example of exaggerating the opposite feeling of what you are trying to get away from. We also widened my stance a bit, as it was definitely on the narrow side - especially with the scoring clubs. Getting my stance a little wider helped me with my weight transfer and rotation as it reigned in my lateral hip movement while still letting me post up on and rotate around my front leg on the downswing. I have two more lessons to go and I am really happy with the progress I have made so far. Is my swing transformation complete? Not even close. However, I understand the concepts and the moves and I am beginning to put everything together on a much more consistent basis. I am realistic and I know that this entire season is going to be a journey. My work and family life doesn't allow me to practice much, so I know the full swing changes won't become second nature as fast as I would hope. I just have to continue my journey, work within my own time constraints, and keep my expectations realistic. I know I am on the right path and I am excited to see where it leads me.

I've been leaving the pin in, and I have gotten used to it. So much so that when I was in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago, a guy I was playing with wanted the pin out and I decided to leave it out. Bad putting round. Here's my issue; I putt looking at the hole, and I have for 4 years. Since I have been putting with the pin in, I feel like I have a better focus on the line. Not sure why; maybe it's the vertical reference provided by the pin. IDK. The pin stays in. If someone wants it out, I'll pull it then put in back in. If that takes more time because I haven't been reading my putt while I'm holding the pin, so be it.

My wife showed me a weather report on facebook for our area next week. It says 12"-18" of snow likely with the possibility of up to 36"! I laughed and told her no way we are going to get that much snow. I sure hope I'm not wrong on that!

Yep, I will be writing my stage 2 in a day or three so stay tuned, some interesting stuff IMO. Any one with any questions fire away, but I may have you covered in my next post. Had a blast with my buddy ole gray and we were even honored to witness a HIO by one of the members of our foursome, their first so it was very exciting.

I have been a frequent reader of the reviews and rules forums but never post. I have been playing for close to 20 years competing for 8 and am currently trying to shave those last few strokes off my game. I am currently a 7 with a game that always feels like it is on the brink of breaking through. Looking forward to hearing more.

I really admire the work you're doing on your own. However, I think working with a coach, even just for a little bit, will help you build your personal toolkit to self diagnose and fix.
  22. 1 point
Good question. My answer is somewhere between "the thought has crossed my mind" and "I've seriously looked into it." If I were to do it, I'd almost certainly set something up with the coach I've mentioned who's about an hour away. I really like his approach to the game, and I want him to end up as Kirke's coach. If I were to do it, I'd probably aim for some package of a combination of an in-person lesson at the beginning and end, with online lessons in between.

Still subzero temps here, which discourages garage work. But I'm enjoying chipping with with SkyTrak. This morning, I set a new personal best: six 10-yard chips that finished a total of 12' 2" from the hole. I'll absolutely take that every time.

Since you know your swing better than anyone; why don't you just find a few of these that you think "might" work for you and test them out. I know from experience you can find a ton of used shafts online cheap. With tips. I'd bet you could perhaps find 2-3 shafts for $100 total.
  25. 1 point
Thats the shaft I chose last year- excellent performer and most importantly, feel! I'm also a Diamana fan for my driver and hybrid.

I got fitted for a Nipon Modus3 105 stiff in my irons the other day and was able to get them for $27 a shaft 4-wedge. Looking forward to putting them in and swing what the numbers say. As far as graphite goes Diamana has always been a personal favorite of mine. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Electric carts are getting more efficient every year and a lot depends on the terrain of the course. I know some of the mountain courses are so hilly an electric cart will not make 18 holes. Back when my old man ran a course it was hilly and on the weekends the carts with new batteries could maybe make 36 holes. We used to charge them between rounds. I can remember the ones with new batteries were ran to death and the batteries would be shot by spring. Of course those older carts were not nearly as efficient as they are now.

I’ve slowed down a bit, I must be moving slower due to the decreasing temperatures and lack of sunshine... but I will be able to play more golf this year so who knows I might log in less if there is grass in January, February, March, April... December, November... we’ll see. Thanks fellas!

I have gone back to the SLDR and my old Adams hybrids. I try something new and have a great honeymoon but then real life sets in and I miss the good old days :) And I won't even consider a new three metal - I have a tour issue RBZ that is so good - I just KNOW I'm going to hit it well, you know? Ok,I am an addict. I need to stop reading this forum and watching YouTube, although I love the content over at TXG. So there I was, content with my TS3 setup. Hit the F9 at a top 100 fitter, was impressed, but not enough to buy. Fast forward to all the hype around the Ventus shaft. Figured what the hell, I have a bunch of stuff to sell/trade in, should be no out of pocket expense. Well looking around the interwebs, I happen across JDs custom clubs. What do you know, cobra F9, Fujikura Ventus 6s, $549........so I caved. WTF. As an aside. Called Fujikura, and they couldn’t recommend JDs more. He’s based in Minnesota and so far the communication and experience has been off the charts. If you are in the market for new stuff, check it out. His prices are crazy competitive. https://www.jdsclubs.com Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Hit the range, bunker and putting green this morning. Also did my first ASD protocol this afternoon. I really worked on trying to simulate play after I warmed up - drive, approach, bunker, putt it out, drive, approach, chip putt it out. The one bummer is that our rough is dormant - I think Innisbrook overseeds it’s rough so that could bite me. I’m going to try and find some range time again tomorrow. It was at the Chi Chi Rodriguez GC in Clearwater. It's VERY short, so I was leery of it as a scramble site and how it would affect pace of play. We did have to wait on every par 5, and actually a couple of par 4 greens to clear for tee shots (drove one through a par 4 green actually....) It was a good site for this event though with the modified setups for good v. evil. The course conditions overall were on the excellent side of good. There were a few rough/this/bare spots in some fairways, but the greens, for being bermuda, rolled quick and true. A nice course and a good value.

That's an epic stack-and-tilt. Inquiring minds want to know... is he at the top of his follow through after a whiff? Or is he at the top of his backswing, about to hit the ball with the back of the club.

As someone who as worked in a Pro Shop and in conjunction with a handicap chair/committee the only way to fix it is to have the fellow golfers police it. I have seen many different tactics to try to combat sandbagging and while some work for a period of time overall they fail. One of the biggest sandbaggers I have seen was the father of the head pro at a country club. The Pro Shop posted all scores. Still didn't solve the problem, it has to come from the guys he plays with. As far as a 12 shooting a 78, it is not uncommon, however if he is not posting then yes, you should say something. This range of scores is very common in my experience and while it makes it almost impossible for me to play against you net, because of the wide range, I would not suspect sandbagging. (Unless the only time you shoot 78 or 79 is in tournaments.)

Mizuno JPX EZ 2014 version. Sure, people did like the orange, but those mothers were super easy to launch. Awesome irons. Worth spending the extra $100 for too, the $319 price tag on Ebay.

Yup - and you can shank that "Clear" ball into the woods with PXG irons just as well as with a used set from Goodwill.
