  7. Phone in back left pocket, score card in back right pocket (if walking and if I happen to be keeping score), full tee and a broken tee in front left pocket, ball marker, divot tool and spare/putting ball in front right pocket. Yeah, I know switching balls mid-hole is a no-no, but I don't play serious competitions and it's easier to pull a clean ball out than try to clean ball I've tortured on the way to the green.

  10. Practice Update 3: Today I spent the entire 40 minutes working on getting 20 putts in a row from 20 feet inside 3 ft. I putted 3 in a row at the same target and then chose a new target and the best that I did was 5/20 in a row. Clearly this is something I need to spend a lot of time on. I did notice that my big misses were generally due to bad reads or a poor stroke. And I confirmed that my tendency is to miss left and pull putts. I am really enjoying spending all this time putting and chipping. Learning my tendencies and how to compensate for them is a pretty fun exercise.

  13. Being a relatively new member here, and reading a lot of interesting and well written posts, I wonder what does everyone do for a living? How many golf professionals are here, who is in the corporate world, who is retired? Just curious and figured for some this could also be a good tool for other, this can be an area to get other advice or networking opportunities. I love the atmosphere here at MyGolfSpy, I don't get the feeling of being inferior or looked down upon by people in the golf industry. Thank you all for that! I hope others feel the same! I am a middle school science teacher. Yeah, I work with 12-14 year old kids that most people just scratch their heads at. I can tell you that everyday is an adventure. I coach football and baseball (the golf job is a hard one to get), and I also work in the summer at one of the areas golf courses and coach a childrens league there.

Heading out this morning to walk several dogs at our county shelter. It takes away from my gym time however it is more than worth it to see dogs come out of their cages with a smile on their face. Oh yea and it's plenty of exercise! Have you ever harnessed up a 50+ lb pit bull who has to pee like a russian race horse and poo poo like a chicken running from a fox?! Trust me those doggies will give you PLENTY of exercise! You begin to feel like a farmer behind a stud mule who just had his butt attack by a killer bee. Yea I have to hook up my big boy pants today and get ready for the rodeo... lol

  16. I have always tanned very easily and quite dark so I live with tan lines year round. I have a couple of pair of BiiON golf shoes and even get tanned dots on my feet from the little holes on the top of those shoes. Some of the ladies I play with wear flip-flop golf shoes so their feet get tanned and racer back shirts for tanned shoulders. But they still cannot avoid tan lines where clothing and shoe lines stop. Because I've had skin cancer, I use the best sunscreen I can find. I like Neutrogena Dry-Touch suncreen with a 85 or 100 SPF. I find that one benefit of a higher SPF is that lasts longer so I don't need to reapply it after 9 holes. I also always wear a hat and good sunglasses to protect my eyes. Often in the summer I carry my silver 50 SPF sunscreen umbrella onto the green with me. It also happens to lower the temperature about 10-15 degrees. My best advice on your tan is to own it. Always keep your skin moisturized to compliment your tan. Then when you walk into a room, hold your head up and wear your best brilliant smile. Love that you're a lady golfer and golfers have fabulous unique tans. Absolutely no reason to hide what you enjoy doing.

  21. Incremental Gains With The Jaybird RUN XT That’s a funny phrase: Incremental gains. On one level, you are improving, but maybe not at a level that is significant in the short run. Incremental does not necessarily mean insignificant though. Folk who have succeeded in weight loss, and other fitness programs, know that all gains (or losses) are incremental, and that it is the summation of these small gains that really add up over time. If I lost just a pound a day, I'd weigh -165 pounds this time next year! I’m not trying to lower your expectations of the Jaybird RUN XT that I am reviewing for you today, but perhaps trying to get out in front of those that say that the new model is not that different from the last model. That is actually very true, and it is perhaps the greatest compliment that I can give this new incarnation of Jaybird’s wireless headphones. The Jaybird RUN XT headphones are incrementally better than their predecessor, and that’s a big deal since I once claimed that the Jaybird RUN were the best wireless headphones that I have ever used. Still Running With the RUN Thankfully, the Jaybird RUN XT are proving to be just as solid a headphone choice as the Jaybird RUN. I’ve had quite a few sessions with the RUN during the past sixteen months. They have proven time and time again to be the best headphones at the gym, on the range, in the living room, and on the streets as I rack up the miles. The RUN have never disappointed me with regard to fit, or sound, or battery life. They just meet the needs. So what then has Jaybird improved with the RUN XT? IPX7 Waterproofing I didn’t know anything about waterproofing before diving into headphone and speaker reviews. I just assumed that if something was waterproof then that they could be wet. Well that’s not quite how it works. Since this is the biggest improvement in the new version of the RUN, let’s take a look at the waterproofing scale above. The last version of the RUN was listed as “sweat proof and water resistant” so this update to full IPX7 classification is significant, especially if you intend to use them during rainy runs or rounds. Obviously, you may not see this as a huge feature, depending upon your usage, but for a certain subset of users, this improvement will definitely be welcome. Personally, I would like to see an IPX8 version that I can use while swimming. If anyone has a good suggestion for IPX8 wireless headphones, please let me know. Keeping the Good Although the new waterproof rating may not be an attractant for you, the new Jaybird RUN XT headphones still feature the specs that I definitely appreciated with the RUN. Super easy to pair to your phone out of the box, and to pair to other devices after that. Battery life is excellent, both in terms of music playing, and from the battery-containing case. The charging case has allowed me to have working headphones when I would have otherwise gone without due to forgetting to charge them. The quick charge ability (one hour of music in five minutes) is great if you leave them out of the case for a while. 4 hours of music in the headphones, plus 8 more from the case is definitely doable. Sound quality is excellent, and is definitely improved through interaction with the Jaybird app. I spent some time customizing the equalizer settings and couldn’t be happier with the resulting sound. The RUN XT also features multiple options of fins and cups for finding the ideal fit in one’s ear. I’ve never had one of these fall out, regardless of activity. The charging/carrying case is very portable, and stays closed. I toss this thing into all kinds of bags and pockets, and I have yet to have the latch pop. Simple controls mean simple usage. Though the ability to alter volume from the unit is annoying at times, it was actually something that I didn’t care about as often as I expected to. Pause and skip were the real choices most of the time, and one-press vs. two-press responsiveness was right on. I have had some issues here and there with the left earbud ceasing to play, but holding down the left button to turn it off and on has quickly fixed the situation, and I would not characterize this as a common occurrence. NOTE: No Video Lag Issues For Me One of the things that some folk have reported is that they experience deal-breaking lag when using the RUN headphones to watch movies. To be fair, most of my movie watching on the iPad is accomplished using wired, over the ear headphones. I want the larger sound, and my need for immobility on the couch is not inhibited by the wires. Regardless, it seemed wise to watch a movie or two with the RUN XT just to see if lag was happening. Maybe I’m just not that perceptive, or I have a hot internet connection, but I didn’t experience lag with Netflix or HBO Now apps. I’ve not tested this at the gym, because the gym is music only for me, but perhaps the difficulties come from decreased bandwidth in that type of setting. I'm not sure that this is the style of headphones that I'd shop for if I wanted to watch movies anyway, but if your are looking for an all in one solution, be aware that some have reported the video issues. Two Dave’s Up I should probably come up with an official ranking system for things at some point, but until that happens, I’d go with a rating of “buy” for the Jaybird RUN XT. If you are looking for portable wireless headphones that deliver a sound larger than their size, the RUN XT should suit your needs. Though they may not represent a huge improvement over the previous RUN model, that waterproofing upgrade may prove invaluable if it starts to rain on the range, or if you fall victim to a toilet drop. I don’t think that owners of the RUN need to go out and grab the RUN XT, unless, again, waterproofing is key for your activities. But if you are looking to make the move into a first pair of wireless earbuds, the Jaybird RUN XT is a solid choice.

  22. You're not the only one who struggles with that, which is why my stuff goes in the left pocket. The issue isn't getting a grip on stuff, it's the glove turning the pocket inside out pulling it out.

  24. I'll ask you, but this applies to a few others in the thread here: how do you get things out of your left pocket while (presumably) wearing a golf glove on your left hand? A recurring pattern in the thread is that righties put most of their stuff in their right front pocket, and lefties in the left. This makes sense, not simply because of the strong hand, but because digging a tee out of your pocket with a glove on is a total pain. Or does no one else struggle with this?

  25. Hey all! How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing for about 20 years. I'm currently an 11 handicap and I'm usually shooting in the mid to low 80s with the occasional 70s round. What do you love about golf? I love how it mirrors life. You could play the same holes 10 times in a row and it would be different in some way every time. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I've been a member for awhile, but have primarily come to the site to read reviews. As of late I've decided to take advantage of the forum to discuss this awesome game with like-minded people! Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm originally from Northern Cali, but currently reside in Hawaii. My home course is Navy Marine Golf Course in Honolulu, HI. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best - year round golf. Worst - the golf scene in Hawaii is vastly overrated. What do you do for a living? Active duty Navy officer currently in my 19th year. How’d you pick your user name? It's my last name with a 'ta' on the end. I added the Mr to class it up some, haha!

As I'm typing this, I'm either forgetting what I put in my left front, or I have an entire pocket that I need to start utilizing!

  32. My club is the only place where I’ve ever played where a number of holes register longer on GPS than the card - always. It’s because the made errors in measuring some holes when the course was laid out and it’s never been changed on the signs - the handicap team adjusted course ratings for it when they were here 3 years ago to reassess the course rating and slope from all tees. Of course the inaccurate holes are the long par 4’s 1, 8, 9, 18. And yes PMookie is correct that many people over estimate their distances by simply going off the card and failing to account for tees being moved up or doglegs. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    SC200 Swing Caddie

Glad I rarely deal with hitting off of mats - I've never used my Swing Caddie off the mat - I also find that I can move it very far back (5 or 6 feet) and it will pick up my ball flight and speed just fine - Nice write up - I've not noticed an issue with higher swing or ball speeds - I use it on the course regularly and have had my son - whose driver swing speed is north of 120 and a mini tour player whose swing speed is right around 120 and ball speed in the high 170's use it and it registers for them just as it does for me - well - their 290 yard carry might be a tad longer than my 220 but you get the point.

With my M3 I average 107mph club speed and Max out around 110mph. I swung the TS3 @ 115mph with the same shaft. Seems like everyone's drivers this year really are going further. 39. There is really only 2 ways to avoid golfers tan. Completely cover up everything to keep the sun away, or do enough other things aside from golf to tan the area's you can't while golfing. I try to wear sleeveless shirts and flip flops or bare feet when I mow the yard to cut down on some of the tan lines. We also got a pool last summer so now there is plenty of time in a swim suit to help alleviate the golfers tan. Bottom line though is that if you play golf often you will end up with tan lines. A few little things you can do on the course as well. After a shot take off your glove, just remember to put it back on as you are approaching your ball instead of after you get there. Helps speed up pace of play. If you wear a hat or visor you can also take it off for a couple holes, then put it back on for a couple holes.

  41. This is one of the issues that people encounter when switching from a set wedge to a specialty wedge. The set clubs generally spin less and travel farther; specialty wedges spin more and travel less distance. You may need to change the loft on your wedges to get that comfortable distance.

  44. I've had the unpleasantness of meeting Shiels. He was an absolute *******. Got paid ~$5k for a corporate golf day (clinic, 3 holes with each of the groups we've had and produce a video from the event). Clinic was ok. Then during the round he didn't want to play - just wanted to hit drivers as he was 'going through swing changes' in his short game and it was 'off brand' for him to play badly. Never released the video to his audience as it wasn't good enough. Him and his agent ghosted the company after that. What a disgrace. Crossfield is fun/funny to watch. I have a funny story about him too Well, one of his students. I used to be friends with a guy that went onto his 'journey' and puttling lessons with Lockey. 6 months of lessons and all. From a Mizuno fanboy he went on full titleist as 'Mark said theyre the most consistent for me'. He claimed in those 6 months he went from 9 to 4hpc. Last round I played with him he 'didnt feel like a 4' on the day and asked for 8 shots After laughing at him for a bit that that's now how handicap system works I gave him 6 shots (being the generous guy that I am :)). Then he complained that we're playing from the back tees (as he said now he can hit as hard as he wants and not reach the bunkers so he doesn't need precision). Landed in 4/5 bunkers on the fairway and TOOK HIS BALL OUT and placed it before the bunker without saying anything to anyone when asked for a score until my playing partner called him out on it Also when he missed a putt he would pick up straight away if it passed the hole, even tho it would end up further than it started and called it a 2 putt He lost the match on the 11th hole and walked off without saying goodbye and we're not friends anymore So I think maybe a coach that would teach rules and etiquette on the course would be also very popular on YT ;-D Oh how fun life is.

First, because some of you may be interested in, did you know we actually have a "naturiste" golf course here in France? (A golf course for naked golfers...) I am pretty sure it is "La Jenny" golf course, apparently a "not so good" 6-hole course on the Atlantic French coast. But I have never been there. As I told you, I protect my exposed skin with appropriate sunscreen (30+SPF), that let me slightly tan without annoying my dermatologist nor being all wrinkled (I am only 31 tbt) (BTW, without turning my post into a commercial, if you can find "Vichy Solar protective water" in the US, you may want give it a try. Good protection and because it is "water", no greasy effect on your grip) Bonne journée ! MA
