    Range Trolls

Okay so I was the troll yesterday on the practice green. The last several weeks there has been a young guy, obviously a beginner, spraying his bucket of balls all over the practice green trying to hit basic chips. His dispersion pattern yesterday was larger than the practice green and this is an extremely large practice green. It was classic, he’s taking the club back far enough to hit a full shot and then decelerating. So I approached him, asked if he wouldn’t mind two very simple pieces of advice. He’s seen me chip for three or four weeks and so said - anything you’ve got man. First swing he was inside five feet and hit lots of them there. The green was safe again. My second piece of advice was to book a lesson with the pro. :) Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  3. Had time to kill while the woman did woman stuff and stopped at the local shop to roll some of these stroke labs. They just happened to have a double wide flow, in 33", with the oversized grip. Tried the #1 and #3 but didn't feel as good to me, I think the blade length throws me off? Maybe it is something I could get used to, but I was more successful with the double-wide anyways, so I brought it home with me [emoji41]. Also grabbed a couple GP Tour Velvet +4 to try. How'd you play?

I shot a 39/41:80 today with two Birdies! I had 11/14 FIR 5/18 GIR and 30 putts with 7 one putts. Man was my putter hot! Gamed my Bellum Winmore blade today. I also had one sand up & down and only one double bogey(1st hole).

  5. Insert meme of the most interesting man on earth: “I don’t always hook my drive out of bounds, but when I do, I hook the second one out, too, then duff my 5th, hit my 6th to the wrong side of the green, and then finish with a three putt.” Sigh. [emoji17] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Incredibly proud of my oldest daughter, who just got notified of her acceptance to William and Mary! She may still break my heart and not go, but the Tribe wants her.

    How'd you play?

Played 9 and used it to hit a LOT of shots, and test some balls. I had the two new Mizunos, ERC, Z Star XV, and the AVX. I’m still a HUGE fan of AVX after today, and the ERC ain’t too shabby, although I’m not the biggest fan of its feel off irons on full shots as it feels too soft, but it was pretty long off the driver, and pretty comparable off irons. The Mizunos were nice, but not significantly different. The AVX is the leader in the clubhouse for now. Best shot was my final iron shot. 154 into the wind to the center of the green. I grabbed my HM Pro 9 iron and I thought it probably wouldn’t get to the green... Boy, I FLUSHED it! It felt SO good! Dead on line, landed pin high! Wooo! Unreal! How'd you play?

I actually got out today and played 9 holes. The score didn’t at all represent how well I struck the Ball. I shot a 47 that could’ve easily been a 41. Putting was terrible. I really really felt I could’ve turned 5 bogeys into 5 pars. Bad judgments and being overly aggressive on the first putt season looks promising

36/41 at Mesa Del Sol today. It was my best round of the winter season. My only double came on 18 and it was my only 3 putt of the day.

  11. Played 18 today, 3rd time since October. Hit the driver better than I have in a while. Didn’t have one 3 putt so happy about that. Iron game was hit and miss, but with Bermuda fairways this far north, you pretty much have dirt to hit off of. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  12. Was finally able to go outside to test my swing speed this afternoon. Started the program at 104mph, 23 weeks later I hit 117mph on the radar. If anyone is on the fence about SuperSpeed do yourself a favor and buy it. For the money there isn’t a better way to gain speed. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  15. after 2 great lessons 4 weeks ago, and never hitting a ball since then, expectations were high. Played badly, really badly, pulls, thins, fats, heels etc. It's as if I've gone backwards. quick chat with the pro afterwards and he said you need to practice what I showed you before another lesson- wise words. Feel quite down about my game after today, will get some practice in this week as the forecast is dry. This game just rips the guts out you one day then brilliant the next. Consistency and playing more is key. anyone else experienced this kind of slump when you know you can play great one day then like a novice the next?

oh yeah, and what is it about golf that AFTER you played 18, all you want to do is talk about it more? I just can't stop chatting about golf, my wife and daughters are going crazy listening to me ramble! that is all .......... (i think)

  20. Thank gawd for golf carts! My unpopular opinion might be for those not keeping a handicap and or not playing in USGA golf tournaments, pick ya ball up after a double or triple bogie. Don't keep hacking the ball around the greens and move on to the next tee. You're only ticking off the folks behind you waiting to hit their approach shot and not doing anything for your game except frustration.......

  23. I recently received my new Toulon Indy and Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour Pro 104cc grip. As I said in my witb, I did some modifications to it and have only carpet rolled so far, but the grip fits just right in my hands and the Indy looks great. Today I purchased a new Mizuno ST190 9.5* driver head which is suppose to be here Thursday. Will post pics when it arrives. With the weather they are forecasting this week, my local range should finally open for the season and I CAN'T FLIPPIN' WAIT. Finally some full swings. Go down to the river and find your best rock, get your handicap ready! Most of all keep a lookout for me. I will be making announcements as we get closer to June

  29. So I figured it is about time to do a picture what is in the bag now that I know for sure 1 club that will be in there to start the 2019 season! So this first installment is the putter. The putter of choice to start the year is a Toulon Indianapolis playing 32.25" with 45g weights installed. I removed the shaft and reduced the length before the single bend to add some more toe hang and lessen the offset. I then installed a Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour Pro 104cc grip. Loving the look and feel of this bad boy! Here are some pics of the putter. More to come as I work to finalize the bag before the season starts! How'd you play?

Shot a 10-over 45 on the red course at Saskatoon Golf Club outside of Grand Rapids for my first real round of the year. Never played there before, though my brother-in-law holds this course in high esteem. We had absolutely beautiful weather today, wish I could have played more. Hit one fairway all day, and only two greens. Going over my GAME Golf stats, I can count seven strokes I could have cut. Hopefully with a little practice I will get rid of those strokes. Really only hit two bad shots today. Snap-hooked a five iron on hole three that thankfully stayed only a little left of the green. On the only par 5, I chunked my second shot with my 4-iron and only advanced it 35 yards or so. On an interesting note, leaving the pin in cost me one stroke today. I didn't notice the pin was leaning slightly on a three footer on No. 7. Hit a nice putt that would have dropped in the right side. Instead, it brushed the pin and lipped out two inches past the hole.

  38. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? So I first started playing golf about 4 years ago now and have been more of a weekend warrior up until now so my handicap hangs around the +15-20 generally. Hoping to bump that down this season. What do you love about golf? Honestly, it’s one of the hardest sports I’ve ever attempted and that’s what drew me in and now I just love having a reason to get some buddies, go out and play 9 or 18 and just have a good time. Literally nothing to worry about other than nature and water hazards. What brings/brought you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I believe I initially joined MGS in 2015 or 2016 when I saw they were looking for testers for I think a new driver. I stuck around past that and the rest is kind of history. I’ve never met any other Spy in person, but I’ve communicated with several different spies, including some living in the same area. Where are you from? What is your home course? I currently reside in Fort Wayne, IN and don’t have any particular “home course”. I just play any public course around my area from Whispering Creek to Eagle Glen to Raccoon Run or Chestnut Hills. Wherever they have an open tee time. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Obviously being from the Midwest, golf is a March-November sport if you’re lucky which stinks, but there are countless courses around the area. I can think of 10 off the top of my head within at least 25 miles of my house, so the choices are a big perk to my area. What do you do for a living? I am currently working as a home hospice registered nurse. So my patients are terminally ill, and my job is to ensure they are comfortable during the end of their life. Being able to provide that care in the comfort of their homes is an even bigger perk to the process, and I love being a part of such an important time in my patient’s lives and their family’s. How’d you pick your username? Okay so this isn’t a very fun question, but it was the username I was given when I started school at IU Bloomington (first three letters of first name, middle initial, first four letters of last name) and it just stuck for me as a username. 45. Well then…count me in! I just so happen to have a few candidates available... Most will find their fate being sliced off to oblivion, shattered on the tee or simply chucked by hand into the woods...What could possibly go wrong..? Er...notice the proliferation of "Top Flite's"...NOT an accident!!! Based on last year's trials, I actually am looking forward to hitting the MOJO...not bad for a brick to be fair, but I am a bit reluctant about the Volvik Crystal in the middle...Somehow I vision myself looking like this after striking it... Oh, and this season, I shall be equipped with better gear since I am umpiring for my daughter's softball league and have gotten new protective gear! I have a new set of under-shirt chest armor and new shin protectors to show off...the mask though (the same one I wore throughout Babe Ruth, High school & Sr. babe Ruth ball) will be the same... For a reminder, here is last year's submission taken from the 10th tee which was our #1 for the day I took the challenge-It just so happens to be my current MGS profile pic... Safety first!!!!!!!

    Cooking

So as some of you know being a firefighter and being one of the new guys means cooking occasionally. Tonight I cooked about 6 or so lbs of sausage for sausage and peppers. Started it this morning before taking a nap. So question is have any of you guys ever had sausage and peppers in oil and red wine or is it always in a tomato sauce?
