  5. I met Ken when he was playing the Sunbelt Senior Tour a number of years back. Quite a character. He was involved in a horrible vehicle accident about 10 year or so now. His motor home blew a steer tire and actually hit a guard rail. His girlfriend at the time and his pet dog were killed and Ken lost an leg. Glad to see he wrote a book

  6. The latest issue of Golf Digest includes an extended article detailing Tiger Woods's ball testing procedure with Bridgestone: Why mention that here? Because Tiger's testing was done without knowledge of the intended characteristics of the balls Bridgestone put in front of him: And that's exactly what twelve(!) MyGolfSpy Forum Members get to do now! Bridgestone will be shipping out a couple of sleeves of balls these members. What are they? What are they supposed to help with? We don't know! And that's the key: this is a blind, unbiased review, without coming in with expectations of performance based on the OEM's claims. I'm excited to read our members' thoughts on these new Bridgestone balls. Who will be playing the role of Tiger for our community? @dalejbrass @daviddvm @DrMJG @FiveGs @gbtrsc @GSwag @jddaigneault @mr.hicksta @Shankster @Smellis745 @Trial&Error @yungkory Congrats to these members, and the rest of us can read up on their testing when we're not shoveling snow!

Good thing the President's Cup isn't played in front of the Waste Management crowd. Do they (in Australia or US) really need to sell beer first thing in the morning???? Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

Nice comeback. I like Ernie, but I thought Ernie was pretty cocky during his interview after Day 3 when he told Tiger that the fans were similar in NY... get over it. He also smirked when Tiger said that he was optimistic of a comeback. I think it pi$$ed off Tiger. Except for a few great putts by a few of the US players during the week, I thought the US team putted extremely poor. They seemed confused by the line and had the speed wrong a lot. Putting was better in the singles, but even then... some poor putts by Kuch, Rickie, Webb, Finau, and Thomas. Lots of 3-jacks.

  11. Yesterday I went to the PING Demo at Desert Hills GC. I arrived a bit before they started and hit a bucket of balls. I had a great ball strike groove going - hitting everything well. The newly acquired G400 SFT 5w, like the 3w, worked great and should fill the gap between my 4i and 3w. For my demo session I wanted to hit the Blueprint, i210, and i500. The fitter configured each with the same AWT 2.0 R, +1 shaft on my G410's and we captured data. I started with the I500's and was hitting them well. They felt like they were jumping off the face (definitely a different sound/feel), but yardage and ball flight was only a yard or two better than the G410's. The i210's offered no advantage on yardage. To me, they felt and sounded very similar to the G410's. Mishits on both were slightly more penalizing than the G410's. So we moved onto the postage stamps, the silver dollar on the end of a shaft Blueprints. Wow, are these ever small! As well as I was striking everything, this was a really good session to see how I could handle a Players Classic club design. The results were dramatic. While I was still hitting close to center (ball marks), yardage dropped off with most hits barely equallying the other irons. The flush hits yielded as much as +12 yards and ball flight was lower. To be honest, I did not like the sound or feel of these irons. On all of these, I attempted to draw and fade shots towards the end of the data gather. The Blueprints were most dramatic but hard to repeat. The i500's worked best but only marginally better than my 410's. I suspect it's principally my lack of skill set more than the irons - but I have lost some workability since changing from my PE2's. Maybe in time and continued practice I'll get some more out of the G410's. At the end of the session, the fitter said no doubt the G410's are the right irons for me. That left me with a good and disappointed feeling. Great that I'm using well matched clubs but disappointed my skill set cannot take advantage of those much talked about "Butta Sticks"... at list those offered by PING. As suggested by some of you, there are a few others to try... so perhaps the quest is not yet over. Since we had a little time left, I asked him about the Glide 2.0 wedge... specifically "why can't I hit the damned thing?" I hit the PW and UW with ease and with repeatable yardage. He set the Glide next to my UW and asked "did you not want the +1 length on this club as well"... Gafaa...WTH?? He then set one up with the +1 length shaft and had me hit it... problem solved. So now I either go have it extended or sell it and order a new one. The "extension" route sounds like a hack job to me... especially on a brand new set of sticks.

  25. This was a great read so happy that I took a little time for it. Thanks! Kenny Green was a nice player BTW. Not great but capable of winning an occasional event 50-100 type guy. He was also a character. He was in a terrible accident of some sort a number of years back - lost the use of some of his limbs. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  26. Wow... I never even really knew Ken Green but his stories about the Masters are great! I might just have to pick up his book... https://www.golfdigest.com/story/ken-greens-wild-ride-at-the-masters I didn't realize that he started both the kid caddy for the par 3 or the skip the ball on 16 ... that's pretty cool.

    Got Problems?

Was going to buy a new truck today and all the guy at the dealership had to do was find the one I was looking at that was supposed to be on the lot. Wasted my time and theirs with phone calls this week to set up a test drive. Since it wasn’t actually there I am assuming they thought they would do the bait and switch to get me into something else. Didn’t work, hopped in my Hellcat and went along with my day. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  32. I'm slightly strong. I used to be strong+, but I would have a tendency to hook/pull a lot of shots on a bad day. Weakening my grip slightly has proven to be the ticket for me.

  41. That has to be the Indian Wells in California right? I know it ain't the Indian Wells here which is my home course because the sun is shining in your photo and it is cold and raining here. And BTW next Saturday is the last day for my Indian Wells because it is closing to put yet more condos on. You can tell your irons are soft forged because of the chatter marks which IMHO adds character

  42. I'd agree. He has enough experience dealing with jeering crowds but there's always going to be a line for anyone. His caddie's line was obviously crossed yesterday, which doesn't excuse the violent response though, but I think we all can understand losing one's composure when faced with constant negative comments towards one's character. Muscleback Iron Review

A few months ago I had stopped for lunch and was pursuing eBay and saw Mizuno MP 5’s 3-P 8.5 condition for $24 with less than 24 hours to go. I bid $124 and moved on. At the time I had some fairly new Hogan Ft Worth 15’s that was very happy with. I expected to continue playing the Hogan’s for some time. I was shocked the next morning to have won the bid at $107. These MP5’s are so easy to hit. To the point that the MP5 3 iron has replaced my MP FLI HI 3 iron that has been in the bag for 7 years. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

    How'd you play?

6 over playing off 8, pretty unexpected after not playing for a couple of weeks due to work and back issues, and having my work Christmas party last night. Drove the ball well, irons were the best I've struck them in a long time. For a change my problem was hitting the ball too far with my irons. Putted pretty well. Highlights were a Sand Wedge to 3 inches from 94 yards, and a 330 yard drive after hitting the perfect line to catch a steep slope and then roll a long way. Ended up winning A grade. Really pleased to put a good round together.

  49. Not my best, but I was in a rush. Don’t hate! Terrible launch angle. Little high on the face and a little towards the toe. Interested to see how Bridgestone factors this in to the ball we are testing. Not far off from the trackman numbers I have from a recent fitting, pretty impressive from a video submission. If you haven’t used this tool on the Bridgestone website, I highly recommend it!

    Can we feature YOU???

I was deployed to Iraq in 2005-06 and our brigade suffered heavy casualties during our 16 month deployment (including a 4 month extension). We had 26 soldiers killed in action and 381 soldiers wounded in action. When I came home I was diagnosed with severe post traumatic stress disorder and spent the better part of a decade in a very dark place, including, multiple times, staring down the wrong side of a 12 gauge. I am not proud of this but it was my reality. 2 years ago while on a long road to recovery I discovered golf. This game has saved my life. Regardless of what my state of mind (luckily much better these days) I can step onto a golf course and everything else in the world no longer matters. I owe this beautiful sport so much!
