    How'd you play?

Coronado Municipal Golf Course on an absolutely GORGEOUS San Diego day 89 (45/44) - 1 birdie, 5 pars, 8 bogeys, 2 doubles and 2 triples. +10 on four holes will kill any round . FIR 2/14 (14%) - I lost a lot of strokes off the tee today. GIR 5/18 (28%) - MEH . Putts 33 with 5 one putts and 2 three putts, SG putting -3.170. This was my fourth round since last Friday so I'm still working some kinks out, but there were a lot of positives from today's round. I'm excited to be back on the course!

    How'd you play?

An absolute disaster of a day on the links! I only hit 2 greens in regulation, birdieing one hole with a 25 foot putt and 3 putting the other one from 18 feet. Only managed to get up and down for one par, but did manage to bungle 2 holes for doubles. Shot a wonderful 89...good news is that it was only 8 over my handicap since I was playing the back tees with some of the younger guys. Oh well...better days ahead?

  3. it will take some serious courage to play golf on Mother's Day weekend after 'mom' has been cooped up all this time. I'm not sure there's a doghouse large enough for that one.

Birthday is next week... thinking about treating myself to a new club. The PXG sales right now are hard to pass up. Didn’t want to jump on that band wagon, but overall the quality and performance of the driver isn’t bad at all.

  6. I finally played in league yesterday. I had three triple bogeys in 9 holes...lol. I shot 49. I can see this is going to be an interesting season. On a good note... I did hit the TS3 fairly well. This is going to be an ongoing struggle with this club, I think. Next time out will probably make me want to ditch it again.

    How'd you play?

I blew off work Monday afternoon since it was beautiful outside in Rhode Island. By the time I got to the course it was cool and windy. My Garmin watch didn't save any shot data but I know I shot a 90. I know I missed a lot of fairways. I know I 3 jacked 7 times. Which leads us to my heavy input in yesterday's "what have you bought lately" thread.

    How'd you play?

Beautiful morning for golf in NE Ohio! Played a city course that, as I understand it, was designed by the same guy that did Firestone South. I really like the course but don't know if I could play it all the time. It is very penal if you miss the fairways. Hell, there are a few holes that you can be in the fairway but blocked by trees if you are in the wrong spot. I didn't hit a fairway until #11, but scrambled fairly well and got plenty of practice at punch shots with a variety of clubs. Could not make a putt, though - burned the edges all day, but fortunately no three putts, 34 putts total. Only one disaster hole on #2, a shortish par 5. Pulled tee shot, tree kicked it hard left to almost the 1st fairway. I wanted to play up the wrong fairway, but I would have had to wait for people in that fairway and there was a group on the tee, so I tried to punch back to my fairway. Did not go well and ended up with a triple. Two doubles, 5 pars, and the rest bogies. Ended up with a +17 88. For your amusement, here is a screenshot of #2. Yeah, it sucked. Pretty sure I made contact with at least 5 trees on that hole. Hindsight: I should have waited. 2:42 round which was awesome. We were being pushed a little bit, but uncomfortably so.

  9. ... I went to Whole Foods a week ago and there were about 10-15 people not wearing masks. More than a few crowding others without a 6 foot separation. I had to touch the cart and everything I put in it. OTOH I played golf yesterday and got out of my car and met the starter outside the clubhouse. He took my name from 10 feet away and waived me to the first tee. I met my playing partner, a stranger, and we easily kept 6 feet apart the entire day. I touched nothing but my ball and my clubs. At the end of the round I waived good bye to Kevin and got in my car without touching anything and drove home. ... Clearly I am much safer on a golf course and did not risk spreading Covid but not as safe in WF's. Thankfully Gov Baker finally caved to pressure from citizens and opened Mass golf courses. Congrats gentlemen.

    How'd you play?

The last two nights Ive shot 39/39, but im lurking on the edge of big numbers. Not getting off the tee box very well and my main miss off the tee is left which I dont love. Been getting lucky with finding openings in trees, balls in bound by inches, and getting up and down. Finding a birdie here and there is saving me as well. Im either playing the hole by hitting fairways and greens, or Im playing from the trees.

    How'd you play?

Played a super consistent 43 today! 3/7 FIR, 1/9 GIR, 14 putts, 43 (+7) I had a bit of a mess on the first hole (tripled) and then a silly last hole (double), and other than that was as all-around consistent as I've ever been. Had one lucky break off a tree, but plenty of "unlucky" near GIRs right on the fringe. If we include the fringe on that tally I'd have had 4 instead of just one. And I putted really well too. Top it off with 60° weather and seeing some good buddies (from a safe social distance of course) for the first time since all the virus stuff kicked up, and this guy had a pretty doggone good day.

    How'd you play?

Badly, very badly. First 18 in a while. 44 front, 46 back. We haven’t played this course in a while since Green’s were switched to Tif Eagle Bermuda. I could not putt at all. Driver and most irons we OK, I even hit a hybrid well a few times but the PUTTING[emoji33]. Interesting COVID19 shot. My Buddy got a great Tee shot on a Par 4 (blew by me by 20 yards) and had a shot 115/120 to pin. He sculled his second shot and went screaming at the pin never went more than a few feet off the ground and went smashing into the PVC collar. There was no way that ball would have gone in. The PVC kept the bell from going to Ocala. He looked at me and said what’s that ? Told him a COVID Eagle, what else[emoji12] He felt guilty, right...... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    Newish Recruit WITB

I have been playing off and on for a number of years and now that I am semi-retired my goal for this year was to play more and I joined the Veteran Golf Association but the virus. I have updated my bag to take advantage of the PXG for Heroes program and picked a new 3 wood and irons. I had a Taylormade M1 3 wood but struggled with it. The PXG 0341 3 wood is a rocket ship. I moved from Ping G25 irons to the PXG 0211 irons for the increased distance. I also swap between my Ping G30 hybrid and my Dyncraft Driving Iron which I just got reshafted from steel to graphite. I game an Evnroll putter thanks to MGS. I also decided to add some flair to my bag with some Rose & Fire headcovers. I gave the MaxFli balls a try after the MGS article. I use a Bushnell Neo iON GPS watch, not sure I my game will benefit from knowing my distance down to tenth with laser (LOL). I love my Clicgear 3.5+ cart. 20. If I'm playing for fun, I'd do just the same. If I'm playing for any money, I'd declare my second second shot a provisional. It sounds like your ball may have been found before you played from beyond the original ball's probable location, so you could have been perfectly justified in playing the original ball. Assuming you can positively identify it, and I always mark my golf balls, even for casual play. But if I'm playing for even a dollar, we generally play by the actual rules, and that's what I'd do.

Shot another 41 for 9 holes today. I was testing out the Ben Hogan driver with mixed results. Had some good looks at birdie but didn’t make any of them on 2 and 7. My putter was not my friend. I just did not feel good with it all day and it lead to a couple 3 putts.... I’ll just blame it on still being early in the season and not being able to hit practice green before Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  32. I will second @ChasingScratch on raising the PRGR device to the level of the driver swing. Got nervous when I was seeing low 80's but once its up it is fine. Going to be using a tripod since it has a screw mount on the back, and when I start swinging the SuperSpeed sticks they suggest 8" above the ground.

    Evnroll Putters

Since I posted, I found the answer. Not "owner" but seems like exclusive distributor for the US market. Maybe Dynamic Brands gets some sort of equity though in Evnroll. https://www.dynamicbrands.com/blogs/news/evnroll-appoints-dynamic-brands-as-distributor-for-u-s-market

  34. For me, you made a conscious decision to abandon the original ball, and the 2nd ball is now in play. In my group, you would not have been given the latitude to play the original ball in the case you mentioned, but they're a bunch of cut-throats when it comes to a dollar. However, you're not playing a tournament and the only one affected by your decision is you. If you're okay with whichever decision you go with, then fine.

  35. Just an FYI for anyone considering getting the SuperSpeed system with the PRGR launch monitor. This is a big factor in getting the most accurate readings I’ve found. When I played around with the PRGR the first time in my living room and backyard, I could never get a reading higher than 100mph. This was very confusing because whenever I hit in Foresight GC Quad, my ball speed is upwards of 169mph. Soooooo You need to set the PRGR up with absolutely no grass, carpet, etc interference. Period. Also, it seems as though it needs to be raised to the level it would be if it were a ball on a golf tee. When I did this, I got swing speed numbers like I was expecting. 44. Well, this is the first new iron set I have ever purchased (been playing 50 years and currently a 2.8). I buy used sets that are several years old. As a result, I cannot compare with newer models. However, I currently play Cobra S2 forged cavity back, which in comparison to the ORKA, are extremely heavy. I've also played Srixon i701 forged cavity back and the ORKA (at least the 7-iron) is far more forgiving than the i701's. The ball come off the clubface very soft; not a firm feeling strike. I was fit to create more clubhead speed and get the ball higher in the air. As a result, my ORKA build is 1° flat and extremely lightweight at 60g and C-9. It is far easier for me to draw the ball than with my current Cobra S2 set. Sorry for the length and probably didn't answer your question. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Played late Sunday; haven't played in a few weeks. My goal in my mind was to break 90. (Kind of a cool George Cobb design here in SC, if you're an architecture geek. I try to be...) Stumbled in triple/bogey for an 89. Had to make a breaking five footer for that. It was a beautiful day, a bit windy, and we had a blast! Score, like age, is just a number!

    How'd you play?

Finally got out at a short 9-hole Par 35 course (last Par 3 round was a month ago and last 9 hole round was just under two months ago). Finished +7 which I'm happy enough with considering everything, and am encouraged by seeing some progress from the series of lessons I took over the winter -- although, of course!, there is still MUCH more work and more practicing to do!! It was a `just good enough to keep the ball in play` ball-striking day as I had a mix of good tee shots followed by not-so-good second shots, and then had some not-so-good tee shots followed by good second shots. On approaches, twice I thinned the ball over the green and three times I came up short and in a bunker; got out each time but then left the ball short in the rough between the bunker and the green each time... I did manage one chip-in birdie from about 10 yds out from the front-right of the green (flag about another 10 yds in); and one 1-putt birdie where I left it about 5 feet left of the flag from about 60 yds out in the right rough. So overall... 2 birdies 0 pars 5 bogeys 2 doubles (nothing worse) - no penalties, no 3 putts
