  1. The Ben Hogan Company started in 1953. It was well known throughout the company that there was nobody that expected perfection more than Mr. Hogan; to say he was iconic is an understatement. Today, I hope you are as excited as me, to watch these gents make Mr. Hogan proud as they test the newest clubs with his name on them. Testing the Icons will be: @Erik-M @downlowkey Testing the combos will be: @joen @deejaid @bens197 @Sluggo42 Hit 'em well gents! Just like Mr. Hogan did, we expect perfection.

    How'd you play?

I played all 27 holes of our course today. Played my regular game on the regular course and shot 42/40 with only one double (no birdies today). Then, we had men's night and we played on the inside 9 (par 35). The format was individual play with net and gross skins, rabbit, and KP. Shot 4 over (39) with a double. Alas, again I went without a birdie, so it's unlikely that I picked up a skin.

    1000 posts!

Hard to believe this is my 1,000th post since joining a little over a year ago. I certainly got here much sooner due to Covid-19, which has given me a little more time each day with no commutes. It’s been great to get all around the forum and be exposed to even more of the great members here. I want to say thank you to the moderators here. You guys do a great job letting us be us and only occasionally gently letting us know we’re out of line. You guys also start countless thread and discussions, polls, news articles and really provide a lot for the members to build on. And I don’t think enough can be said about all the work you out in for testing and reviews. Thank you mods! I also feel like I’ve made real friends here and enjoy talking with members on here. There’s a real sense of brotherhood around here that’s rare on the internet today. Here’s to 1000 posts, and 1000 more! Cheers boys (and gals)! [emoji482] Hit ‘em straight! How'd you play?

My wife, Brother-in-law and I went out after the rainstorm passed through this morning. Grass was soggy and had to take casual water relief several times, including the greens. None of us played well, and I never got into it after the triple, followed by a double. My BIL has only played once this year and was fighting his swing; that was distracting. He wanted to play the senior tees, so I did also. I think I was +8 on the front nine (might be off by a shot or two). I managed a +3 on the back nine even though the wind picked up to 15-20 mph. Funny how I shoot the same scores from my regular tees or the senior tees. My highlight was the drivable par 4 #14 risk/reward hole. I have never been able to drive this green in 5 years I've played this course, and I never even try from my regular tees. The senior tees are just enough closer and with the tail wind, I said What the heck!! If I hit my normal shot to lay up, I would have been in a soggy fairway. This is the wettest fairway on the course normally. I carried the 50 yard long bunker short of the green, landed into an upslope of rough and the ball hopped onto the green. I had an eagle putt!!!

    Home "Improvement"

I’ve spent the past week cleaning up the mess of 8 stumps being ground, building and mulching a garden and growing grass where the stumps no longer reside. Needless to say I could use a new back. On the bright side of things, not only do I have the worlds best helper but my Azalea bushes are starting to pop.

  10. If it means anything my back issues started in my 30’s and if anything have gotten better, not worse, in my 60’s. And I have a disabled child who weighs 125 and requires lifting and shipping several times daily so that is a potential back stresser. Just a reminder of all the things that you know already - stretch before and after, proper posture and perhaps you are a person who needs additional warm up prior to starting SuperSpeed. While they offer a one size fits all process they are off the charts good with customer service. I’m sure they’d have recommendations if you reached out. I had knee issues when we started the kneeling swings. They recommended protein (in my case a handful of mixed nuts) pre protocol and a variety of things post - I went Greek Yogurt and cherries - it really helped. Good luck and hang in there. 12. Yeah.... I once played an entire 18 hole round with a punch swing because anything over a waist high follow through caused my back to seize. It made for an interesting round. I’m hoping it’s nothing too bad. I’ve been massaging it with my lacrosse ball today. Hopefully I can catch up and get all three session this week still. I remember sleeping on the floor as a kid at friends me houses with no issues. Couldn’t imagine that nowadays and I’m still in my 30’s. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    How'd you play?

I played Cottonwood Hills in Bozeman, MT today. The threesome I joined played from the blue tees and I opted to do the same - my pride ya know. 71.5/130/6678 is a bit more challenging than my usual. I shot a 47/38. My fortunes on the front nine were not good. While I struck the ball well, I did not hold my aim points and found a handful of those pesky fir trees whose branches just simply wanted a piece of my passing ball. Several found it necessary to pass the ball to its next door neighbor - leaving me with another opportunity . Got a little mojo going on the back with some great approach shots - two 5w lasers on back to back holes that gave me birdie attempts of which I only converted one. Sure nice getting out and back in the groove.

  14. I hit 108 last fall with my Swing Caddie. Because of COVID, I have not been able to get to a range this year yet. In my first round on March 1, I had three drives top 275 total on some pretty firm ground. Regarding the green club, I recently have been sitting just above or below 130 MPH on the swing speed radar. So it was refreshing to see just a little bit more from the heel stomp. I'm forever making tweaks to my swing, and I hope to have a better idea in a few weeks as to where I am these days. I typically do not generate near the speed with my driver as say, my 7-iron. I mentioned my ball speeds last week a few posts ago, but my Mevo recorded an average of around 95 MPH club speed with my 7 iron.

I was looking for a spot for this topic and figured it's pretty random so this should be the spot. I'm really proud of my daughter as any father would be and yesterday was the day that her junior high was to announce the Cheerleaders for the coming school year ( if there is anything to cheer for). Since schools are currently online only in Texas she had to try out with a video of her cheering to a script and send that to the squad leader. My daughter had only tried out for one other thing before and that is the tennis team last year that she did make but, has been privately coach for at 6 months prior to try outs, but they only got two matches before the covid 19 shut everything down. Seeing how she hadn't been a cheerleader since second grade my wife and I were very nervous about the result ( only 8 girls out of 30 make the squad and she would have to beat someone from last years team. The announcement was to take place been 6 and 8 o'clock yesterday. About 6:30 we heard a police siren out in front of our house and we all ran outside to see a police car escorting the squad leader to the new cheerleaders homes to break the news and Gabbi made the team ! I thought that was a pretty cool way to reward those girls that made the team, but today I have to feel a little sad for those kids and parents that didn't make the team. I'm really proud of my daughter!

    How'd you play?

First full go around for the year at the home course today. We had a ton of rain over the weekend, and the course had been closed since Sunday, I think. Most of the fairways were as long as the rough and pretty wet. Everything was all carry. - 45/47 = 92 (+20) - 3/15 FIR - 3/18 GIR - 34 Putts (2 3-putts, 13 2-putts, 2 1-putts, 1 chip-in) - 2:45 Round Time (Love being the first off...) I'm starting to hit better shots, but right now everything is either pretty good or just awful as I work through the swing changes from my lessons. It's one thing to put them in place on a range, but on the course it's a whole different ballgame. I still really struggled mightily today getting off the tee for the first 15 holes. And unfortunately it really carried over to some shots from the fairway where I had my fair share of clanked tops and even a few dead shanks. Ugh. Looking back on the ShotScope data and it's pretty ugly. Putted really well on the front nine, not as good on the back. Chipping was pretty good all around again. So there are some bright spots. And on the last three holes my driver started to wake up a little, finally registering a 245-yard carry on No. 16. Hoping to play a few times over the long weekend, and hoping more swings continue to work the kinks out.

    How'd you play?

Because of sun spots or food poisoning, starting playing driver games again, last Sat. at range out of boredom changed ball position for driver, moved ball way forward and was hitting some stupidly high bombs with TM M2 74 gram GD Tour AD. Suddenly decided to abandon TM M3 9.5 with Accra X455, why? (to try hit bombs) Then the next two days was monsoon weather so had no chance to dial in this experiment. Golf league on Tuesday I'm in limbo so I start with TM M2 10.5 w 74 gram GD Tour AD and hit 1st drive off 1 and 2 '"ok" then proceed to hit weak, putrid flares on 4.5.and 6. There is a backup on 8 so I get out the wrench (the league is pretty loose with this kind of stuff, like rules) and swap out the 74 GD Tour AD shaft for the Accura X455, shaft 65 gram) which now feels like a feather and then on a short par 5 I hit an g-ball 40 yds. down the hill into a small meadow, with the geese and snakes. Note to self, never swap out shafts, especially heavy to light, during a round again. Besides, it might be against the rules. Yeah, it is. Couldn't get up and down all day to save the royal bacon, I was full of self-loathing and despair. Shot 6 over for nine holes, stink, stank, stunk. The worse part, no 19th hole therapy or sympathetic beer cart girls. I love this game. See you next week.

  22. I'm going to have to completely agree. I believe you can do the protocols without a radar, but I don't believe you're going to see the full potential of the program without a way to measure speed. As @B.Boston said, knowing the difference between a perceived fast swing and a true fast swing helps you to learn what you need to do in order to swing faster and not just swing harder. Plus, if you are a competitive person, it's a great motivator to try to be faster on the next swing.

Hit my first drive of the day straight down the middle... about 30 yards..but thank goodness it’s a par 5, and I was able to scrambleBack with a smoked 3-wood, and a 6 iron. Almost sank the birdie... almost. Made some really good shots but just couldn’t score today, things like 3 putt from 10 feet..., granted it was impossible pin place on side of hill, and my approach was left and above the hole... or 10 feet off the green and lay a little chip that I thought would be inside 3 feet, somehow ran 20 feet past, or a 106 yd gapW that hit 1 foot right of the pin and somehow bounced and rolled 40’ uphill! still managed a 79, but dang what a day....

  24. Hello All, My first WITB kicks off with an anti-climactic "it's not actually in my bag because it's getting a new shaft". My current driver is an Adams Speedline Super S 10.5 cranked down to 9.5 with a soon to be 60 gram X-Stiff shaft and tour velvet grip. What is currently sitting in the bag holding the SuperS's place is my Taylormade R580xd 9 (non conforming now i believe....oops) with the stock stiff shaft that I got back in high school second hand. I have special place for this bad boy, and it still holds up pretty well on the tee box even thought its 17 years old now. My 3 wood and 3 hybrid match up with the aforementioned SuperS, both in matrix 65's. 3-PW are my ready to retire Taylormade Rac OS II's in the stock stiff shafts. I plan on going through a full iron fitting this year and replacing these, some people tell me that a 15 year old set of irons couldn't possibly keep up with the technology of today....how dare they ? 52 and 56 wedges are my Calloway MD3's both in S grind with stiff true temper golds, the grooves are still fairly sharp but they may go along with the OS II's when I get fit. The putter and probably a most embarrassing piece of the puzzle is the Wilson BlackJack 206 but it's one of the best areas of my game and if it works...I'm probably going to keep with it. I've been playing a Calloway supersoft recently but I'll be throwing a box of TP5's in this weekend at the recommendation of a friend. I'm happy to answer any questions, or take a suggestion or 2 for the new iron set! -Conner

  30. Putter arrived a couple of hours ago and since I am working from home I quickly opened the package and rolled some putts on the carpet. I like the looks and feel of the putter, just not sure about the shaft. I guess seeing nothing really noticeable about the shaft isn’t a bad thing. Definitely going to need to get it out on the course to see if the shaft has any magical properties.

  36. @Nunfa0 I can tell you that a smooth flexible swing will benefit you all day long over being tight and trying to "muscle it." I thought about the regimen before as well and decided to try to see how it felt ton two different days with and without the pre-work. The first thing that I noticed was how "bad" my flexibility is (everything went down hill after back surgery and I have never gotten back to where I was before that; follow up with shoulder surgery a couple of years ago and man have things really changed). Personally, I found that swinging after the warm up is much like a run after the first mile or so or a swim after going through a few steady laps; MUCH more smoother and flowing. ChasingScratch talks about the biomechanics and technical, kinesthetic aspects of this from his education and professional background and everything he says is sounds based on my experiences and education. Take it for what it is worth, but if you have flexibility issues, like I do, you might consider a) making sure you are warmed up a bit before you do the routine, b) doing the routine before the swings. Even if you don't experience these issues regularly now, working out after a warm up will help stave these issues off later in life. Best of luck to you.

  37. Oh yeah! I’ve had a few days where you’re grinding for it and want some really fast ones to end it and also days where my First three are already in that upper range and then I’m thinking like hell yeah! Let’s bust some records. Without the radar I wouldn’t be able to get as amped up about it. It would just be a swing workout and honestly I probably would have gotten bored by now. With the radar you get the competitive juices going and it’s a lot more motivating.

  41. I'm only a week and a half into SuperSpeed so not an expert (yet). Can you use the sticks and work the program according to their protocols? Of course - it's fairly simple, at least the first protocol. However, what I found is that I can't tell the speed difference between swings - perhaps others can, so the LM really helps me. The other 'thing' the LM does for me is, it motivates me through data to swing harder on my next swing. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

  44. Really enjoyed the video - A couple of things jumped to mind from it for me that might a few MPH's - I'm not 30 years old so we aren't seeing any 120 out of me but to get from hanging between 93-97 on the course to 97-102? That would be huge. My teacher is a vulnerable guy so he hasn't been teaching since COVID started, I've seriously thought about changing to one of the young pros that I've been playing with a lot lately anyway (not that I don't like my guy but I think I'm ready for something a bit more radical and that's not him.) Stay tuned

  45. I have to hear you're having tightness in your back. Hopefully it'll let up soon, but the most important thing is to take care of yourself and get better. For those of you discussing the heel stomp, just wait until the 4th protocol. It'll be there waiting for you. I went into a maintenance mode right after starting that protocol then got lazy and put SuperSpeed to the side. I couldn't get much out of it, but after the TXG video I think I might have not properly timed it.

I asked the same question and they are allegedly "looking into it". The short story: they contracted with a glitchy third-party app to automate their tee sheet. After being encouraged to call-in for tee times instead, I have discovered some shop staff apparently suffer from similar glitches. Re: waitlist - if anything opens up for a single, I supposedly have first dibs (on 12 minute slots, we are 100% booked every day right now). Forgiveness keeps the heart light, so I'm not sweating the situation. Edit: apologies Spy fam - "got problems?" would have been a more appropriate thread for this mess.

Was a beautiful day out. Pretty hot, like 98 but hey that's south Texas for ya. Course was in great shape, and the greens were fast. Only got 9 in but it was an unexpected round. No warm-ups needed as it was so hot. I felt like my game is starting to really come along since picking the stick up again 6 months ago after a 5 year layoff. First bogey was my fault. tried some low punch shot to stay under the wind. didn't work out well but at least its not a double. The second bogey was a chipping issue, took an odd bounce away from the hole and left me with a long putt for par. final bogey was a missed 4 iron off the tee leaving me w/ 240 to the green and it in the green side bunker. Good out from the trap and a 2 putt. had only 1 valid birdie attempt and missed that, and none of my pars were scrambles. Playing from the blacks for the first time and it really made me focus on club selection and shot selection as well. used 4 Iron off the tee 3 times. Really feeling good and hope it continues to improve. Id hope I'm not a 10 anymore. Will wait to see after I set up the Arccos system.
