  3. Well I was just about to pull the trigger straight from PXG for the Lucky D putter until I noticed the 4+ week time frame. Thankfully I found a great deal on a used one that arrived today. I wasn't expecting to get the full PXG shipping experience buying second hand but I got it. I'm big on the little things OEM's do for their customers and this is by far one of the best. The putter was pretty sweet too! I can hear my golfing buddies now. "A Proto X driver and a Gen2 putter, what a snob!" Lol

  7. Maybe hide the persimmons under some modern matching Ping head covers too, really throw them off. [emoji16] Yes, I’ve become a classic golf aficionado in the last few years. I really love refinishing old persimmon woods and bringing them back to life. And yes, the collection is always evolving. I have probably about 400-450 persimmon woods in the collection now, most of them boxed up and stored. I do keep a few sets out to be played regularly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  8. Well folks it has been a while. Frankly I forgot where this thread was at I finally got the brain kicked into gear and figured out where to find it. I started my shoulder PT 2 weeks ago yesterday. The ortho doc told me where it was cracked that there was absolutely no way I could re injure it unless I fell backwards on it again. The PT place is right behind my house and if I went by the way the golf ball flies if you hit it straight it is a driver 5 iron for me ( driver wedge for some of you young flat bellies) . Real nice people. They have stretched my shoulder pretty well while limiting my back movement. I have at least 11 more sessions on it. The doc is letting me exercise it on my own too. Have therapy every other day during the week 45 minutes a session. I do 3 or 4 sessions at home 15 minutes or so at the time. My shoulder is feeling great. On the painkillers they had given me 20 hydrocodone tablets in the beginning. I had cut myself off after 15 taken as directed. I did have to take 2 after they ran the test deal on my shoulder where they inject dye with a big long needle. The procedure itself did not hurt because they inject nova cane first. But the doc did tell me it would hurt that night and wanted to know if I needed pain meds. I told him what I had done and he said good a couple in like 24 hours would do me fine. The muscle relaxers for the back I have not taken any in 4 days now. They relieved the pain and numbness but I hated the side effects-- They made me ill mannered and high at the same time and also made me dizzy which all are listed as side effects. My back seems to be better. The Neurosurgeon said I would have bouts on and off as my disc goes back into place pushing on nerves but that is part of it. Since I started the PT on my shoulder somehow it has transferred to my back some. The last 3 days it has rained on and off and I have been somewhat stiff but regular Ibuprofen helps that. I had built me a broomhandle putter to practice some with to basically keep my feel up. Today I had a real good session and my back was loose and for the first time since April I could putt with a conventional length putter. I did several sessions for about 15 minutes or so then sat for 15 minutes or so smoking my cigar. The whole deal was about 2 1/2 hours and I did not over do myself. Putted with an old Macgregor IM-5 that a friend of mine gave me. I had been dying to try it because it met 2 criteria it is rusty looks like it has been in a fire or a war and after all it is a Macgregor All in all I am doing pretty well and feeling better both physically and mentally. Have PT 3 times next week and go to the Neurosurgeon for my back on July 15 and from there we will see about therapy on my back. Have an Appt with the shoulder doc July 29 and fully expect him to cut me loose.

  9. ... On the par 58 executive course, southwinds golf course in Southgate. 7 over, 65 not too bad I should say. Took my son for a little outing. Had a lot of fun, I had plenty of up and downs to save par, and the putting was great.

    Putting Statistics

If you look at official statistics, it has nothing to do with the club you hit; it is all about where the ball lies. Unless the ball is touching the green it isn't a putt.

    How'd you play?

Well, our first round of golf for the 2020 MGS PNW outing at Circling Raven GC south of Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho didn't go as well as I had hoped. Beautiful day on Friday, temp in mid-80's with a breeze. My wife and I with @Thin2win and @fixyurdivot were delayed off the tee by nearly 1/2 hour. Resort golf, I guess. I'm on the 1st tee showing Chris and Bill how to hit the fairway after they didn't. Unfortunately, I wouldn't hit another one until #8. LOL. I scrambled around the front nine shooting 42 that included a triple on #4; not a hard hole, but I made it hard by a bad tee shot. Missed the native area, but not by much!! The back nine started great with a par on #10, but that was the only par; had 6 bogeys and 2 doubles for a whopping 46. So, a round of 88. I was better putting; 30 putts with no 3-putts. I got a lot of bunker practice in; I was in 6 greenside bunkers, but I was able to get a couple of them up and down with tap-in pars. We are playing here again on Saturday. Supposed to be 10º cooler and winds stronger; hope I can hit better drives.

  12. Alright as a meme junky I’m jumping in on this capturing of the competitors...Zoolander theme why? Because it’s underrated @GB13 Comes in hot and heavy but we all know he’s not going to do anything @Headhammer every once and a while he pops his face in and gives us some gold @daviddvm watching on soaking it all in and lastly @edingc & @B.Boston really the only 2 that matter here either one May Pull this thing off Or is it more like?

    How'd you play?

Had an interesting round this morning in the Saharan dust, with 3 doubles and a hot streak in the middle (double, birdie, birdie, eagle, birdie, double, birdie) Shot 74, but made a lot more money in wolf this way than having 16 pars.

  18. The worst part is there’s no way for us to hide the stats with arccos. So far I’m seeing a scarily low fairway hit percentage this year. Even counting the 4 or 5 that has been a few feet off don’t make it any better. Haha

    How'd you play?

5 over 76, including a triple bogey. Ball striking was good again, 10/14 fairways, and the misses were small and didn't hurt me. Irons were solid. Chipped the ball well, had a few tap in pars. Putted ok, using a putter that was my daughter's as mine is in getting the shaft reseated. The triple came after a run of 1 under through 11 holes. 10 consecutive pars might be a record for me. 5th round in 15 days is helping my game, unfortunately not playing next weekend.

    Happy thread

Happy and sad, my oldest son “Graduated” from preschool today. With the closures and such they couldn’t do a real ceremony like they wanted to but the center’s owner came out and presented Jackson with his diploma and little gift. Not sure where the last few years went, but he will be starting Kindergarten in the fall! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  37. @Getoffmylawn - both things can be true - kneeling swings can really hurt especially if you don’t have the proper cushions. When performed correctly though, they truly help lots of people’s all striking. Great for sequencing issues. So I did my first morning workout this SuperSpeed go round. I learned the first time that I’m faster in the afternoon than the morning. True to form I was about 4 mphers slower with the green and blue but wonder of wonders the red decided to join the party today. I had a jump from 106 to 110 with it. The other thing that I noticed is that this workout seemed effortless - perhaps because the heat index hasn’t reached 100 yet - it’s been North of 110 all week here hence the reason for the 8 AM workout. :) Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  38. I think you’re the first person in the history of MGS to say they’re excited about kneeling swings. [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] Realistically they don’t both my knees, but I can see why they would be bothersome to many. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  39. This is one of the big reasons I'm excited to get to Level 2 (one more week of Level 1!). Kneeling swings are purported to be a great drill for fundamentals alone, never mind speed training, Golf.com Martin Chuck article about it at the link below. Granted this is with a ball, but i think it bodes well for the value of the SuperSpeed protocol in improving ball-striking. https://golf.com/instruction/driving/practice-swinging-on-knees/

  40. @tony@CIC thanks for the feedback. Definitely not necessary to increase the speed of the backswing. Just a test to see. Probably best to stick with your current backswing

    How'd you play?

80 40/40 1 birdie / 11 pars 8 GIRs / 9 FIRs 33 putts (only 1 3 putt this time) I got to play Craft Farms Cotton Creek golf course down in Gulf Shores, AL while on vacation here at the beach. I played from the tips (7127 yards) and very happy with the results. I usually play around 6500-6600 yards. Hot and humid today, had a tough time gripping the club at some points. I still missed 3-4 putts around 6-8 feet. Shot of the day for me was an 8 iron from 160 that landed and stuck right next to the hole (a inch or two from sinking it). unfortunately a yanked a drive into the woods and had to pitch out. Saved a par at least.

  44. Me too. There are actually times I swear I can feel myself starting to pull down on the grip before I have fully set my body in the backswing. It almost always ends up being a hard pull-hook. Presumably my hands are so far out ahead of my body, that's about all that can happen? I finished the first week of Level 2 tonight. Blue speeds seem to slowly be creeping up and catching the green speeds. Green and red have basically been flat for the entire time. I actually am really enjoying the kneeling swings so far. I feel like it is going to help my core flexibility since my hips can't rotate too much. Dominant swings were 106 (green), 102 (blue), and 99 (red). Left-handed? Strangely, my fastest kneeling LH swing to-date has been with the red stick at 97 mph. I have no clue what that means.

    How'd you play?

Playing lots of golf while on vacation, which is my idea of a perfect vacation. I was thinking about it during my last couple rounds, I can't recall ever having this much fun on the golf course. Taking lessons this past fall and the result of having some sort of control over the golf ball is such a wonderful feeling. Thursday 18 - 40/41 = 81 (+9) - 6/15 FIR - 10/18 GIR - 35 Putts (1 3-putt, 15 2-putts, 2 1-putts) A really solid round for me again. Feeling much better with the putter than I was a few weeks ago. Had a few first putts come up just short, but the lines are so much better now. I made a few more strategy changes to how I play a few holes and that's helped me get off to better starts on the back nine, and in the process, lower scores overall. This was a 70s round in the making until I pulled my tee shot OB left on 14. Friday 9 - 39 (+3) - 5/8 FIR - 2/9 GIR (1 birdie) - 14 Putts (5 2-putts, 4 1-putts) Played the back nine this morning since I played the front nine only on Wednesday. I've committed to a new to me chipping technique for the past few rounds and today it was working really well, so despite not hitting a ton of greens I still scored well! Driving cooperated reasonably well with me today, but two of my five attempts still were not great. Pulled left on No. 16 and then sent the ball onto No. 18 fairway on No. 17. Luckily I was able to recover well both times. Hit a really nice push draw drive on No. 18, stuck my 54 degree wedge to about 10 feet and sank the birdie putt to finish sub-40. Nice putting round for me again.

  48. Learned somethin' today: Callaway Pre-Owned not only sells on their own site, and not only sells on eBay, but they sell on Amazon as well. So if you're looking for something on CPO, it's worth checking the other sites as well, because the prices vary considerably sometimes. Ever since my driver fitting, I've been trying to get something similar to the Mavrik I tested without having to shell out the big bucks for a current 2020 driver. The obvious closest parallel to the Mavrik SZ was going to be the Epic Flash SZ. CPO was selling that driver with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 70 X-flex shaft in good condition for $254. The same driver from CPO on Amazon was $185. So I snapped that up! If anyone is looking for a 10.5° Rogue SZ head in OK condition, I'll be looking to move mine.
