  1. Week 4 Recap Our competitors got a chance to feel what it's like to be Bryson and overpower courses as they flexed the woods and wedges from the new Cobra lineup. The scores across the board were lower CCNet than last week's irons only challenge and it appears they had more fun doing it too. The young buck @GB13 brought home this week's win and slid himself to within 1 of the lead locked in a dead heat by @B.Boston and @daviddvm. Each week has brought a new winner so will this week finally be @edingc's chance to bring home gold? For those keeping track at home, ties will be broken by 1) number of golds 2) silvers 3) bronzes. Right now, that still doesn't separate our top two so I'm hoping that sorts itself out before we get to the finish. CCNet Scores: B.Boston - 70.0 daviddvm - 69.5 edingc - 76.1 GB13 - 68.3 HeadHammer - 69.4 And our competitors continue to prove why they're in this challenge by smacking down challengers left and right to the tune of a 7-3 record. B.Boston was the most challenged and completely dominated going 6-0 in his matchups. The shining moment for our challengers was @jddaigneault shooting this week's lowest CCNet overall. And the wheel spin for a prize: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Week 5 - 14 in the Chamber Competitors: You guys been dying for your full set back? Sure...with a twist. Some of you may have seen this challenge in the Euro Tour highlights. We're going to take the formula with a tweak to make it work for this challenge. Each competitor will be shooting with their full bags but they're going to have to be creative about it. Each time you use a club, you can't use it again until you've used the rest of the clubs in your bag. The overall rotation up and down is up to you, but you need to "reset" the bag before you can bomb driver again. In this instance, putter acts as a freebie club that doesn't take up a spot in your rotation; however, you can choose to putt out with another club if you'd like to reset the bag faster. Whichever club you begin putting with must be used until the ball is holed. As in the past 2 weeks, lowest CCNet wins. Fans: Here's your final chance to challenge a competitor. You play by the same rules as them but you pick which one you're challenging. It must be someone new that you haven't challenged yet. Entry = 1 ticket in the spin and win to get 2 more. To enter submit your HC, Slope, Rating, and Gross score. Good Luck Everyone!

  5. Cobra SpeedZoneONE and KingONE Wedges My set of wedges consist of a SpeedZoneONE G (48*) and S (54*) wedges and a King Black ONE (60*) wedge. These are wedges I ordered but I was sent a MIM 60* standard length wedge because the King Black ONE 60* was out of stock. I really believe in the one length setup can improve my consistency, so I found a used King Black ONE 60* online for a nominal price to complete the ONE set. I think most of you probably would think that the ONE wedges would be the most difficult transition in the set. But I have found the SpeedZoneONE wedges to be quite easy to hit just like the less lofted irons. The King BlackONE 60* wedge has made all the shots I am used to making with my Vokey 60*. Full shots with the SpeedZoneONE wedges launch higher and travel 10-15 yards farther than my Vokey G and S wedges. They stop as quickly due to the higher loft. Using these wedges around the green is different from a Vokey. They are hot and you will not get the same spin and check on shot shots. The King Black ONE 60*wedge will perform like a Vokey for every shot around the green. I don’t use a 60* wedge for many full shots, it is more of a specialty club for me when I’m needing avoid hazards, bunkers, and rough around the green. King BlackONE 60* lob to 4 feet. Looks 3.5 of 5 stars I am not going to kid you that the SpeedZone wedges are as sexy as a Vokey wedge, they look like a GI club. The King Black is damn sexy though. 3 stars SpeedZone 4 stars King Black = 3.5 stars Sound and Feel 4.5 of 5 stars I get excellent feedback from all three wedges. The sound is muted with the SpeedZone wedges and the sound od a nice “click” with the King Black wedge. Basic Characteristics 4.5 of 5 stars The common thread with these wedges is they are ONE length and my setup are basically the same on full swing shots. Shots requiring opening the club face have been no problem at all. Some of the touch shots around the greens have been a little hot with the SpeedZone wedges. On Course Performance 5 of 5 stars Statistically I have improved distance and accuracy with wedge play since putting these wedges in play. Miscellaneous 4 of 5 stars I love the one length of these wedges but long term I may consider all three wedges being the same model club head. Play It Trade It 5 of 5 stars I’m all in on ONE length clubs! Look at my trends in handicap for approach and chipping and sand after 7 rounds with ONE length. Total 4.5 of 5 stars

  6. Same for me this week except I’ll have 150 kids in my classroom each day [emoji107] so much for social distancing Even though I’m still smarting from the beat down @b.boston gave everyone last week I will also call out@daviddvm. That is, if I can get to the course! Good luck everyone!!! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  8. This morning, Arccos updated on my Android phone (I would guess this update is already out on Apple as well). And it's a major revision in how stats are presented: so far, I'm massively impressed. My analysis here is as one who just started using Arccos this year, but had been a devoted Game Golf guy for the previous five+ years. Having using both (I'd love to check into ShotScope at some point as well), I've been struck by how differently the apps present essentially the same data. Chatting with the other mods recently, I voiced my desire to see all the major shot trackers merge, just so they could take the strengths from each system and combine them. So far, I'd say that this Arccos revision has now added virtually everything I liked about Game Golf. Let's start with the topline information. One of the features I missed most from GG is comparing my current performance to various handicap levels. This allowed me to see not only how I was losing strokes to a scratch golfer, but where my game lagged compared to a 10 (for my goal of getting to single digits). Arccos now has this feature: You can now choose to compare your game to anything from a Tour Pro to a 20 handicap, in increments of one. Massively impressive. The topline page for Arccos now is much more like GG. Instead of giving the handicap equivalent of each aspect of my game, it tells me how many strokes I'm losing to scratch in each aspect: Immediately below that, it takes stock of those numbers and suggests three elements of your game that demand the most attention: Turns out, I drive the ball short and not straight, and that seems to be a poor combination. Go figure. More surprisingly, I lose more strokes on approach shots from the fairway than I do from the rough. Must be all the practice from the rough. Arccos then has a separate page for each aspect of your game, and these have been entirely revamped as well, with a ton of useful information. For driving, for instance, it tells you how many strokes you're losing (or gaining) because of your distance, your accuracy, and your penalty strokes: So it turns out that I'm not crazy wild off the tee; I'm just wild at very inopportune moments. It also breaks down your tee game by hole shape; this is not something I've seen in any other software: My guess here is that the hard doglegs on our course demand something less than a driver, so they tend to reduce the big misses for me. On approach play, you can see your strengths and weaknesses from different lies: Arccos here is not telling me that I'd do better to hit my drives into the rough. But it is saying that I recover better than some others, while I'm not at all taking advantage of the times I do find the fairway. That is a striking and motivating statistic. You also get a breakdown of your strokes gained by approach distance. Clearly, for me, my iron game needs a ton of work right now. The short game stats are equally interesting: I'm actually getting slightly closer to the pin on average than a scratch golfer on short pitches. But at both distances, I'm still missing the green entirely way too often with a partial wedge (another indication of the tiny greens at our course is that my average distance to the pin is near scratch level, while my greens hit percentage is far worse). On putting, they've now broken down strokes gained by length of first putt (previously, they had make percentages): Overall, my putting is the strength of my game, but it's clear that I'm a better short putter than I am at distance. Another evidence of our course's small greens is that I have no putts longer than 50 feet. And then there is the 1, 2, and 3 putt percentage chart, which is now presented as a comparison against the handicap you've chosen: All in all, I'm really excited about this new version of the software. My golf gadget geek credentials are pretty well established, here, and just scanning through the app this morning, I think I've got a better understanding of aspects of my game that need work. That's the point of the data, so I'm impressed.

That's a good idea. I was also thinking stickers on the soles. Hit shot, put sticker, put away. Once you make it through, take the stickers off one at a time. Make it through again, put stickers back on....hopefully as few times as possible. 14 max. Be as creative as you'd like. You thinking of doing Phil's 2 driver technique? Note to competitors: you guys still have to stick with your challenge Cobra set.

  15. After picking up golf again in July 2019 and joining MGS in November 2019, here I am a golf addict, an equipment addict, and a forum addict. I have enjoyed interacting with all the folks on here and feel like I have gotten to know a lot of you. Most of the people that I meet in-person at my club are not really into equipment. One guy I met was amazed about the fact that drivers are now adjustable, LOL.

  18. Congrats @Peaksy68! Enjoy your swag! I’ve been looking forward to this challenge since I first heard about it. The last two weeks have really gotten my creativity up to par for this week. Just as long as I don’t end up having to chip with a 4 iron... I’ll be okay. Now, who wants to challenge me this week?!?

    How'd you play?

38-38 76 today - Learning the D7’s and hit several really nice iron shots with them including 5 irons. I’m a solid 1/2 club longer than with my G30’s. Hit some squirrelly ones and it took a few holes to settle into driver lofted down but as I settled in I made 3 birdies Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Played Friday morning and was +1 after back to back birdies on 13 and 14. I finished bogey, bogey, bogey, double to shoot +6 76. Combination of bad luck and exhaustion. Driver was on fire and wedges were good. Just putter was up and down which was unusual.

  30. Old school for me! Similar to @B.Boston I'll just mark the column with hole used number as I go, and when a column is full, I can start over. I do think I'll be putting with an actual putter, however, but that strategy could go out of the window if I really need to.

  31. I am printing out a paper from excel. I am a little more organized with a printed sheet. I have a pre plan for each hole....we all know that sh!t is out the window though after I duff an 8 iron on the par 3 I intended on hitting the green on though lol pretty sure I have the yardage book from the course I’ll be playing need to double check

  40. Congratulations @Peaksy68! You're gonna love the Puma swag. This week's challenge sounds like a fun one, I've seen something similar on Crossfield's channel and it looks challenging. I doubt I'll be able to get in on it, we're working six days this week and I think it's going to rain Sunday. I'll just have to wait and see. This is coming down to the wire and it's been a fun, phenomenal Cobra Connect Challenge.

    How'd you play?

Final round of the club championship wound up today. I struggled on the front 9 (we started on 10) playing the more difficult course and shooting +7. Front side much better and came in with a +2 on that 9 for an 81. I "think" I'll wind up taking 2nd low net for First Flight 65+ Division. Temps did not reach the 102 forecast, but they got close. We were much more humid than usual for this area and we had a 10 minute fairly hard rainfall during the round.

... I would say too funny, but ironic would be more apropos. Started off today with birdie, par, par, birdie, par, par and hit 9 iron on every one of those holes LOL. 20 mph winds so rode it or hit some knockdown shots into it and clearly I would have been at a huge disadvantage without my 9 iron! I hope yours gets fixed soon!

Not sure how many on here are familiar with “Les Miserables”, but my son plays the lead character, Jean Valjean, and my 9 year old daughter plays Little Cosette. Their opening night was last night, and I was literally moved to tears. So proud of my son’s performance in such a HUGE role at just 16. So proud. Sadly, my daughter’s mic didn’t work so we couldn’t hear her first ever solo. Was a great night!
