  1. DRAFT NEWS FROM LAST NIGHT So last night was the first of our four drafts, and all things considered it went pretty smoothly. Only one real incident where I needed to step in and pause things, but as always we continue to learn and evolve to get better. So here's where we're at going into my draft on Sunday as next one up. 1) First, let me introduce @Shankster as the newest team owner in the Stud division. Last night led to one owner quitting the league and walking out midway through the draft due to an unforeseen issue. Luckily we had a guy who was willing to roll with the punches and we're happy to have Shanks aboard. 2) As far as that owner, I'll say only this. We are doing this primarily for fun, this isn't a million dollar contest or something along those lines. We as commissioners understand frustrations, but showing an inability to roll with punches isn't going to bode well for your chances at winning fantasy football or friends in real life. 3) Something we learned in the chat quickly is that if you have some things checked off in communications, you're going to get an email of every pick in the draft. Here's how to change that. First, click here. This will take you to your contact page. Scroll down to the send email for group and uncheck draft status updates and when i'm on the clock. Then click Save Franchise Info. 4) In a effort to minimize the chance of a missed pick or bad auto-pick, fill in your work list, even if you plan to be at the draft for the whole draft. You can do that at this link. Hell, if you're feeling froggy, you can pre-pick players for your draft if you want. 5) After seeing the Fantasy Shark's drafting coach in action last night for a couple of teams, you should feel safe with them if you're going to autopick. Also, if you know you're not going to be available, go into the live draft room and click the I'm Away option under the player list, so that way we can move quickly through your pick instead of waiting the full 2 minutes. 6) How much time should you factor for the draft. Well, last night the Stud division, with a pause and a few autopickers took 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the 14 rounds. Maybe we can be faster now that we know a little bit more about how to make things work better, who knows. But factor at least 2 hours. 7) For ease of access in case things go wrong, a fellow commissioner will be shadowing the other drafts just to make sure any things that need to be done as far as pauses or tech issues can be resolved with as little controversy as possible. So that's it. I look forward to Sunday night for my draft, it should be a fun one, especially as today and tomorrow are cut down day... gonna learn some things about roster construction this weekend!

    #COBRACONNECT Challenge 4

Unfortunately, I’ve not had any AHA moments with my Cobra’s like my fellow competitors. That said, I’m in the middle of a swing “rebuild” and I’m starting to see signs of improvement. So I’m very hopeful for the future. The bright spot the last few weeks has definitely been the 3 wood off the deck. I have a lot more confidence going into par 5s now!

    How'd you play?

My wife and I made a conscience decision to not play at our course on Saturdays until it gets colder and fewer people show up. Saturdays are very busy and slow. We always played on the weekend because until last October, my wife worked at her business, and the weekends were the only time she could play 18 holes. Now that she is "retired", we can play any day but we were still playing on Saturday and Sunday. Sundays are not very busy, so we will keep that day to play with our working buddies, but we decided to play today instead of Saturday. We were joined by two retired guys from my company who were very nice (had some common acquaintances), so the round was enjoyable. I didn't start off very well, bogeying the first 4 holes and ended up +6 on the front nine. The back nine was a little better at +3 for an 81... all bogeys, no doubles. Couldn't make a putt!! My wife played very well, except for three holes where she had 2 triples and a double, but still shot 90.

  6. Appreciate the insight and follow-up @Berg Ryman You are a very fine commish. Just want to reiterate.... this is for F-U-N ... no money involved. Please keep that in mind if you don't get 'your guys'. If you want to play competitively there are loads and loads and loads of options; we've been doing it on here for years and guys always have fun doing it. If you're not that type, that's fine; no hard feelings. We're using this to continue to bring the community together - especially as winter sets in and golfing opportunities for some of us are harder to come by. Now - let's have some fun and get after it!

    How'd you play?

Not well.... One of my higher scoring rounds in a looooong time. Put myself into trouble off the tee, had trouble on the second shots and most disappointingly had a lotta trouble putting. There was a bright spot, though -- had a few punch outs and recovery shots, and one short approach, with wedges that I hit pretty well. Have another lesson scheduled for tomorrow!

    How'd you play?

I was a guest at the club and my member buddy told me to give him a hundred bucks so I did. I think the going rate for the caddie is $70 so it was a $30 tip. I had to fix my divots as well which I kind of expected him to do but I guess my expectations are established by what I see on TV watching the pros. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Tell me... how much do you tip a caddie who gives you wrong information about distance AND makes you rake bunkers that he was responsible for you being in? Inquiring minds want to know.

  15. Alright guys, I'm back. So after that day I reported there was some soreness in my shoulders and hips on the lateral sides, but nothing like it normally is after I play that much. In regard to the gummies, I definitely feel like I go to sleep easier but the side effect is some crazy dreams. I'm not normally a huge dreamer or can remember what my dreams are but since I started taking those gummies at night, my dreams have been highly vivid and outright strange lol. I also typically wake up in the middle of the night for whatever reason, and again right before my alarm goes off but I've been sleeping until my alarm goes off now. The dreams though, crazy. As for the cream, I haven't experienced the same measure of heat that I did with the initial application. It's more tame than the first, not exactly sure why though. Any of you other testers experience the same?

  16. It was a pretty quick change i'd say. Within minutes. I mean, i'm usually a relatively calm guy as it is, but wasn't really tired last night. I was going to not take the full recommended dose, but figured, I'd go for it and tweak it as I go along in the testing. Took the dose, which helped stop my mind from racing and relaxed me. Closed my eyes and next thing i knew my alarm was going off. I've been waking up 1 or 2 times a night recently, first time i slept all the way through in a while. Either that or my wife didn't kick me in her sleep last night

  22. After not getting to sleep till late into the night, thanks to playoff hockey OT, I took a full 1ml dose to see if it makes any difference in tiredness the next morning. Woke up at 630 this morning to get ready for work, after falling asleep around 12-1230. It's only one night, and can't say if it attributed it to anything per se, but I feel like I'm the most well rested i've been in a while. I don't have any apps or fitness bands to get solid data, but I do feel better than I have in some time. I'm going to keep using it for a week, see how productive I am, and then take a week off, see if my body points me in any direction. Also, 2 side notes. Kanibi definitely nailed it on the flavor profile of the choco mint. Delicious and no real aftertaste which surprised me. And did we all end up picking different flavors? Looking at all your pictures, I think we've got every flavor covered, no?

  26. Going in later today for the second lesson with my new coach (the one I started with retired) ... and what was most interesting about our first lesson together was he quickly focused in on a few basic fundamentals, that either I'd not been properly taught before or had totally forgotten about / moved away from (the more likely scenario LOL!). For example, he showed me a still frame from the DTL vid cam showing my setup and asked me where my weight in my feet was -- and (even I could see LOL again!) it was clearly back in my heels, with too-straight knees plus a hunched-over back ... all in all a pretty bad combo for trying to make good contact with the ball. Showed me a good trick to use to help set up more consistently, too. We also worked for a bit with a rubber kickball between my arms (larger than a Tour Striker Smart Ball; which I have and am now practicing more with!) to get the feel of using the body relatively more to power the swing and to reduce the "hit" on the ball with (relatively more) arms, wrists and hands. Yes - they're important also but he wants me to get me to improve my transition and weight shift before even thinking about more power (Tim Allen har harr ). Had a good range session earlier in the week trying to focus on these things - setup, balance, better arm "structure" - and had some good results but I can see it's gonna take me a while and a lot more work to apply all this good stuff out on the course...........

    Maltby MPF Scoring

I am undecided on MPF. I really like the idea of being able to compare clubs based on the fundamental geometry but think there are some flaws with MPF making assumptions of what makes the best parameters are. The fundamentals are around helping golfers get the ball airborne like @Hook DeLoft mentions. Center of Mass is everything to MPF. Having a long blade with more weight on the toe side and low COG is optimal. Since the hosel is heavy and is not the club face it pulls a lot of weight away from the center of the face (where most believe is the center of mass) Use it as a basic guideline but comparing one of the most visually SGI irons the Wilson Launchpad irons are 518 MPF and MP-33 blade is 419 MPF both fall into the Better Players Only Category. Ralph Maltby also mentioned most wouldn't be able to distinguish a 100 MPF point difference.

  29. The effects seemed to last several hours for me yesterday, but I'll continue to monitor as the review moves on. I'm keeping a journal to document which product I'm using, dosage, and timing, etc. to get a clear picture of the results. I did the same thing during my 10-day baseline period including golf rounds - how I felt/feel, time stamps for each hole so I can try to match Whoop data to certain shots and so forth.
    3 points
  30. Kinda figured that would be the case. Through saliva/bloodstream is quicker with pretty much anything. I think I'd also like to compare if the delayed release by digestion would compare in overall feelings. Curious if there's a difference. Truth be told, I dabbled quite a bit in my college years into my mid-late 20s in the other part of the plant. And eating/smoking were definitely two different effects.

  31. Night two of using the gummies. While I did feel more tired and ready for bed generally, I had mild discomfort in my back and legs that made it difficult to sleep. Not a knock against the product, but if you're looking for a silver bullet to help you with sleep you need to temper expectations. The early results are about what I expected going into this review process. Still plenty of data to collect and share with you guys in the official review. I also used the sports cream on my calves yesterday. I did one pump per calf and massaged them for about 2 minutes each a few hours before working out. I normally feel my right calf trying to cramp up after a few minutes on the elliptical at my apartment gym and it seemed to do a bit better yesterday. Muscle soreness post-workout was also improved. Compared to the other topical cream I have, Kanibi definitely has a stronger scent due to the inclusion of menthol (would be my guess anyway). The menthol does seem to aid in its effectiveness though. The other cream does not list menthol as one of its ingredients and while I have experienced some pain relief, the results are considerably better with Kanibi right out the gate.

  32. @HardcoreLooper@ballplayer002003 @BMart519 @dlow206 Alright here is the final tally of my 31 days of swinging something 100+ times per day. 1st of august, I did 50 swings in the morning, 25 with different clubs and 25 with the Skiz gold flex.Played 18, shot an 86, it was a par 60 course, so it does not count on the breaking 90 category. Overall during this experiment I played the best golf I have played in a long time. I had a great ball strike, my scores for the month of august I realize that the scores don't tell the whole story, I felt that I hit the normal full swing shots way better than before, I also felt that I started getting more confident specially with the wedges. What worked: I got much more flexibility, I felt that I gain yardage specially off the tee. My shot path and plain felt much more consistent. Things that didn't change: I was not able to pull off shots that I did had on me from before. It did not help me make better shot decisions, I still made pretty bad mistakes, I should have broken 80 on the later rounds, but I choose to "go for it" and failed miserably with shots I had no business trying. My putting felt a little more sloppy than before. I think the next part of this experiment is to get my self a home simulator, where I can get instant feedback on a controlled environment and I am able to try different shots. I still found great value of this experiment.

  37. Nice range session today. 106 heat index so not a long one but every 8 iron was at and past the flags at 136 and 138. 6 iron was a bit short of the 172 flag. 5 iron remains the crap out club for me. When I hit it well, it went past 172, when I hit it poorly, it really sucked. 9 woods would all have been on the green, all right around that 172 carry but where they hit, they stayed. The key was getting my left hip open right after I put my left foot down. When I do that, I hit the ball beautifully Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  38. Got in a full loop with the half set this afternoon. Top-to-bottom: Cobra S9-1 Pro 3-wood; Ben Hogan ICON 5/7/9 irons; Cleveland 588 49*/56*; Bobby Grace NYC Tour. 12/14 Fwy; 16/18 GIR; 32 Putts (-2) The breakdown on the other 38 shots: Hit the ICON 5-iron (7) times today... (8) counting my second shot on the opening Par-5 that directly smacked the high tension transmission line crossing the fairway and nearly landed at my feet. But I only hit one chippy 7-iron into the breeze from 150. (5) 9-irons all solid and inside 2 feet from 155 on the 18th. (12) 3-woods, all tee balls. (11) wedges all outside 80 yards. Plus one chip and one putt from the fringe. Pretty even mix of knock downs and high hard ones to cover the gaps and the ICONs performed more than adequately. Only missed GIRs were both stepped on gap wedges and one of those was less than a foot into the collar. It was interesting having fewer options to consider throughout the round and the setup definitely demanded a more decisive swing in several scenarios. Intentionally worked the 5-iron hard in both directions a few times. Surprised to only have one blemish on the card. Didn’t have any expectations standing on the first tee and it ended up being a stress free day. The two biggest takeaways: 1. I love these ICONs more and more. 2. Pleasantly surprised how much less energy I expended shouldering the sub-10 pound single strap quiver compared to a fully loaded push cart. Had you suggested that I could have a below average day on the greens and still notch an easy red number with a half set, I probably would have rolled my eyes. Well... to the contrary, it was an eye (the third one) opening and very satisfying experience. Perhaps it’s time to upgrade the Sunday bag?

  42. ...and in an even more club ho move, I read your post last night about 1130pm. As if it was meant to be I had a tee time today at True Blue, where the Dresser Academy is located, and he's the only PXG fitter within 100 miles of me. A normal person would have gotten there early and gotten fitted before ordering... not me though. I placed my order (5-GW with the MMT regular over the phone after talking with the salesman first thing this morning... THEN I went and hit them. Turns out the PXG guy and I got it right. 2* strong worked great at the range (it seems these have similar specs to PING G irons and I wanted the equivalent of their Power Specs). At the price PXG is selling these ($89.00 per club), heck, the MMC shafts sell for $60 each at Golf Works. I'm so glad my demo with Sub 70 didn't work out (I'would've only been able to hit them in the KBS steel). I got a set of PXG's which will hold their value 10x better, I'd imagine, and I got to try them in every shaft!. Thank for the heads up! If we ever run into each other when I'm back up on the Island, the beer is on me!

  43. Shot of todays round was just a simple flop shot out of absolute crap patch grass, over an alligator filled lava river onto a 2 sq ft landing pad, that would fall off the side of the planet if hit a foot too long. I was so amazed that it worked that I dropped another ball and did it again. Probably couldn't hit that shot again in one hundred tries.

  47. You'll find a lot of disagreement on this. Many find Maltby's ratings to be useful. Many don't. The forgiveness ratings do put a lot of emphasis on the vertical center of gravity. All else being equal (of course, it never is), a clubhead with a lower center of gravity will be rated as more forgiving. If you hit down on the ball with good clubhead speed and get plenty of height, a low center of gravity may not work for you, even if you tend to miss the center of the club face. Lot of factors involved.

  48. One thing to consider when taking the oil this way is that it will likely take longer to work. Placing the oil directly under the tongue allows it to be absorbed into the bloodstream quickly thanks to the considerable number of blood vessels located there. Whereas, consuming the oil via coffee or tea will require it to be digested before entering the bloodstream. You may know this already if you've been reading up on CBD like I have, but in case you haven't Kanibi has some helpful blog posts on this topic specifically. https://kanibi.com/blogs/all/what-is-cbd-coffee https://kanibi.com/blogs/all/how-long-does-it-take-for-cbd-oil-to-work EDIT: Not to discourage anyone from taking the oil this way, but something to consider in regards to timing if you're getting ready to go out and play golf.

  49. As someone who plays about 99% of my rounds on a single, quirky course, I'm convinced it matters a lot. So not only do we have tiny greens (that's going to skew my putting and approach numbers), but we have a bunch of dogleg holes, several of which are full 90° holes. Consider the 2nd hole, a short par 4: At under 270 yards, this is a tiny hole. But it is heavily forested on every side; cutting the corner isn't a real option (it's sometimes done for fun in scrambles, but you're lofting an iron over tall trees completely blind). So you end up hitting a wedge into the corner (didn't quite catch my PW properly on this swing). I have to assume that every single time I play this hole, Arccos marks me down has having lost strokes driving, because I'm (at best) looking for a 130 yard "drive" here.
