  1. @B.Boston, @daviddvm, @Headhammer, @edingc, And @GB13.. You all have done an outstanding job, Kudos to you all.. Clearly it is a 2 horse race to the Finish unless someone can pull a rabbit out of their Hat.. I like others have not followed along as much as in the past, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of smack talk from our resident smack talker @GB13.. the level of BS from him has clearly dropped off, is that a product of humility?? Hmmmm Any way you all have done great, @B.Boston and @daviddvm nice Summer..

  2. ... OK, I was pretty sure the P770's would challenge the T100-S for my bag this year. And they still might, but I had such great round with my Titleist irons yesterday. One of my problems is the gapping at the bottom end. With a 44* pw and adding the 48* wedge meant I could not play both my UDi 2 iron DI and my 19* hybrid. I have had several rounds where I chose the wrong club for that day, really needing the one in the trunk of my car. But I got a good look at the Taylor Made DHy today and it may solve my problem as a combination of a DI/Hybrid in one club. I have so much confidence in my T10

  3. Man have I missed this thread and how life has been busy. @daviddvm I absolutely love my OL F9s! Massive kudos to Cobra for overnighting the clubs to me from California just before our Maine trip, as well. Seriously ... one super happy customer and they've likely won this customer for life. The 5i has been a hard adjustment and it’s not the length, but the lie angle is much more upright than one is used to. With CL irons, the 5i is much flatter ... but the rest of the set, heaven. The OL 4h is optically very difficult to adjust to ... feels like I’m swinging my daughter’s driver. I’

  4. at a minimum 4 bucks a ball losing one of these hurts. I'll stick with the more affordable Srixons. If there are 3 brands I "trust" for consistency that seem to 'own' the process from beginning to end it would be Titleist, Bridgestone and Srixon. Snipped from the 2019 ball report.... TONY COVEY There’s quite a bit of difference when it comes to who makes what and where. I may have covered this before, but since I happened to see this comment pop-up. Titleist and Bridgestone differ from the rest of the industry in that they make their own rubber

  5. ... You probably already know this but chipping is one of the easiest shots in golf. Chipping close is a different story of course but hitting decent chips should be easy. The trouble is almost always focusing on the result and not the process. If you can shift your focus to the chip itself and not the results, you should be able to replicate your practice chips. With practice chips, you really don't care about the results so if you can hit good practice chips you can hit good chips when it counts. I know, I know easier said than done for some but that is the mental side of golf that is as imp

  6. The ball lab report for ProV 1 is on the home page, here is a link to it. As expected the ProV1 scored very well in every category across the board. Share your thoughts below! https://mygolfspy.com/ball-lab-2019-titleist-pro-v1/

  7. Needed some good and comfortable waterproof kicks and these seemed good... Always been intrigued by center shafted putters and this one seems to be a decent one... Reshafting my irons with a set of these... can't wait! I have a hard time finding gloves that fit 'decently' and don't fall apart after 5 rounds. I have had one of these Zero Friction gloves in white for a long time and it is always in great shape. I really like the way this fits and my first round with it I shot 78.

  8. So, as a way to put a bow on this fantasy season, I guess it's time for me for put together the closing post. First, a congratulations to @Apolloshowl for his victory. It was tight there at the end but having 4 guys seemed to be the way for him to get it done. Having been involved in a review opportunity with him in the past, I know he'll make great use of that golden ticket and put forth an incredible review for all of you guys when he gets his choice. Second, I want to thank all of our players for this season. Thank you for being flexible with us. Obviously 2020 has been a battle

  10. I can't wait to actually hit them, didn't pick them up until 5 today and had food in the car and needed to get home. I'll definitely post up my thoughts on them as soon as I can get to the range and the course. I think I'm starting to have a problem, I've bought twice as many clubs this year than I have in my life. I'll call that the @Golfspy_CG2 starter kit.

  11. I might have done a thing.... These are not super old clubs, coming out in 2002/2003, but they are sharp! I got a better look at them today and they're the Hogan Shafts in a 3 (regular) flex. Haven't had the chance to hit them properly, but did hit a couple of small chips in the back yard and they feel nice. They are the Pro model. The 5-E clubs have Release by Feel Golf grips and they feel like they have a reverse taper to them, the grip feels bigger the closer you get to the shaft. The 3&4 have normal grips.

  12. @Nunfa0I know you had asked a page or two ago if we would have done anything different with our set makeup... For me the only club that hasn’t earned a full time spot is the Hybrid. Once the challenge is over I’ll get out with my old Titleist 818 Hybrid which has a flatter lie angle and the fade weight in to mitigate the dreaded left shot with a hybrid. It’s not a slight to the Cobra, I think it’s just too upright for me (my irons are 2 flat, but we cannot adjust or bend the cobra hybrid). It flys great when I hit it correctly, but there’s just too much left in it for me to be really c

  14. Wow. Impressive indeed. And it shows that Titleist isn't messing around when it comes to quality control. They do back up their commercials. Good on them. And thanks to MGS for all this info. Next ball up is the Bridgestone Tour B-XS. If b-stone's are just as consistent as Titleist, then it will help me sleep better. Side note: Callaway still isn't on that level yet. Even after committing $$$ to QC, they're still a ways off from Titleist.

  18. Found this mess when I finished the demo up this week. Yea that's the bottom of the rubber roof and that's old shingles. Someone had an old chimney in this section and never put anything under it to make sure there was wood to support the roof. There's a ton of old water damage that doesn't look like it has happened for a while. I will have to get the rubber roof taken care of in a year or two and I will try to remove any bad wood from below and frame then put plywood on top of it to support the rubber roof. I HATE people who don't know how to do things the right way.

  19. FREE TO A GOOD HOME: every golf club I own.... Ok, it was bad, but maybe not that bad. Driver was mostly good - almost everything started a little left with a baby fade. The two that didn't were penalties (one pull into unplayable lie, one high flare into the woods). That happens to me occasionally and I can deal with it. What I can't deal with was how atrocious my chipping was and I haven't a clue what I was doing wrong, especially since I was chipping well around the practice green. Just chunky and bad. Putted ok, irons were longer than they should have been, so I'm still adjusting to n

  20. Yeah. Vinyl planks. I’m cheap, so it took me a while to find something. Got this from BestLaminate after reading copious amounts of reviews. Ended up being $1.89 a square foot, with the pad attached with the Labor Day sale. My wife showed me some stuff she liked... but I could have bought a Ferrari or two... As for the driver... I am going to leave it to the fitter. My only requirement is that it is not a Callaway. Even if it is 75 ok maybe 7 yards longer than the next thing.

  21. Finally was able to get back on the course. 3 club wind, but darn it...I'm playing. I didn't really keep my score, but looking back, thinking I shot around 80ish. Hit some bombs downwind....and a couple of 138 yard 6 irons...LOL. Fire broke out not far from the club and we could see the billowing smoke. Turned out to be a wildfire about 20 miles away. Still burning, but they have the main fire contained. Meanwhile all southbound exits of I5 north of Ashland are closed, as well as the 2 Ashland northbound exits. Winds were steady 20-35 mph with gusts higher.

  22. Been playing really well of late, thanks to the Hogan combo set. Got a SIM Max D, and it was good, right in the middle every time. But I just wasn't any longer than my Ping g400LST. Soooo, I took that back and got a Mavrik SZ. It was decent, but then I adjusted the shaft up 2* and today hit a bunch of drives longer than my old averages, by 10-20 yards farther. I honestly couldn't believe how far they were going. I messed with the settings on the SIM a ton, but never got any real gains. But this Mavrik was Crazy long. wow! Its going to be impossible to not get the 3-wood now too, as my Ping g40

  23. I've been practicing on a nightly basis putting on a 48" metal measuring stick. I'm working on keeping the ball rolling on the stick and not falling off side to side. I know if the putt was off based on the roll. The stick is flat too. Just in case someone asks. I've had a large problem putting the ball on line so getting a consistent stroke has really helped.

  24. Reading through the Instagram and blog comments makes you realize why so many golfers struggle to improve. Also, our expectations for consumer sporting goods are WAY too high. Thankfully, some of the manufacturers have equally high expectations, but there is little to no reason we should expect the level of quality we get. As an example: I earned my certification to train for IPC J-STD-001 a year ago. For those unfamiliar, J-STD-001 is a standardized specification which dictates how electronic components should be joined together via soldering (among other things) and is broken

  27. Good plan. It sounds like it’ll be an adventure. It is amusing to see how some people’s brains work when it comes to wiring and plumbing. One of our first projects was to redo our master bath which meant move the shower 3’ into the closet so we could add a double sink and vanity. Popped up the floor and what did we find? Yup, a double P trap for the shower

  37. I have had a combination near sightedness- astigmatism all my life. Few years ago I was 20/650 in right eye and 20/450 in left. I then developed a catarac and had the most powerful astigmatism lens implant along with cornea 'slits" done. Wow! I used to not be able to recognize my own wife if she got more than 6 feet away. They were able to get me to 20/30 in both eyes. I still wear glasses since I need them to read and I have worn them over 70 years. But I can drive and play golf with out them. Love it! 41. Had to get another mole removed. This one was smaller so I got it done in my skin guy’s rooms. Waiting on the results, but my surgeon is very confidant of a good outcome. He was pretty pleased with himself for even doing the biopsy, and it was a level below the 2 I had removed last year. The man does know how to sew things up nice and tight. My posture should be improved

  43. @Nunfa0 I'm exactly the opposite of @edingc, I would have swapped out the my 4 hybrid and replaced it with the 4-iron. Based on how long and how easy it was to hit the 5-iron I think the four would have fit me better for short par 4s, tight driving holes and long par 3s. The challenge really taught me that I'm much better with an iron in my hand than a wood.
    4 points
  44. Yeah, after going 4hy I'm never going back to an iron. It's just so much easier to hit, almost feels like cheating.

  46. I would have replaced the 4 iron with the 21 degree 4 hybrid. That is the only regret of my club choices. Based on the gaps I'm seeing now, I have nice a progression of distances from driver, 3 wood to 2 hybrid, but then there is very little difference between my 4 iron and 5 iron. Some of that is because I rarely hit the 4 iron, but I so rarely hit the 4 iron because I've really struggled with it. The 5 iron is much more consistent and I can carry it upwards of 200 from the tee when struck well. The 2 hybrid is a 230 club from the tee when I hit it well, I think the 4 hybrid would

I have been playing golf on and off for about 10 years now. I first got into golf when my older brother started playing for his high school team and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. It has always been an activity for me and my two brothers to bond on a Saturday morning and that is the thing I love most about golf. I currently shoot in the upper 90's but I am starting to play more as I get older so hopefully that will improve! I just recently discovered
